On a more serious note, I have often found that when designers and manufacturers in many product categories start paying attention to their too long ignored female consumers, the innovations they create are useful for everyone. I also think reviewing these products is an underserved niche. Thank-you.

Daily exercise is key to as healthy life. Ride a bicycle to school, work or for fun. Riding a bicycle is a great way to exercise. Ebikes are bringing many older adults back to cycling. Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan. Be healthier and happier. Ride a bicycle regularly. Make a bicycle your transportation option for short distance travel.

Arleigh, man here, in fact, “old” man (80) and I like that you intend to focus, in part, on e-bikes. I plan to do some cycle touring - probably mostly credit card type but may occasionally do camping. I have a step-through model so that eliminates that bar for storage. What I would like from you is ideas for packing an e-bike for long distance, overnight trips.

@ - specific trip I’m planning for August will be 115 miles each way (Hancock to Cumberland, MD via C&O Canal, then Cumberland to Rockwood, PA via the GAP, and finally Rockwood to Somerset on country road. RT to follow.). Hoping to do some shorter trips earlier in the summer to determine real world battery life (have a Velotric Discover 1 with promise of 60 miles but know I can probably only count on 40+). I have a Topeak rear rack & bag with fold-out panniers, which I think will work for the initial rides I’m planning, but if I decide to camp will probably need something roomier. Front of bike has mass of wires that make a front bag difficult so I broke down and got a front basket. TMI probably, but suggested this topic because e-bikes are a bit different than regular touring or road/gravel bikes and I can’t be the only one thinking of using an e-bike for touring.

I want quality gear, but I want it at a price. A lot of bicycling assumes I, the consumer, have thousands of dollars to pour out on gear, I don't. Most of the potential US market doesn't. If bicycling is to grow to the next level, I am the demographic they will need to appeal to. I would really like a good new helmet designed for riding my e-bike. I have a big male head, which is a size range often ignored or underserved. I might like a few lights, but I would want to avoid complicated electronics which are expensive, a chore for me to sort out and then break. Also, most helmets I have seen close to this description seem to opt to be remarkably ugly.
