Tortillons are also really good for blended ing pastels and oil jpistels and shifting the colour to exactly where you want it. Very useful tools.

So happy your projects went well. The Dylussions journals are BIG with the art journaling and mixed media in journals community, they come in a variety of sizes and black cardstock too. I have to allow super wet media to dry and not overwork the paper, because it will peal if you forget. BUT, I love mine. Missed you, glad to have a video back! 💙

Birthday boy!!! You’re 12?!?! Wow!!! Girl, you rock! Teaching art is not easy, but somehow in the end it all works out. The strategy I have learned to use when teaching my high school students is to let go and enjoy each moment. The most important thing is to be flexible for any situation that may come up. Looking forward to listening to the interview. I’m sure there will be a treasure trove of inspiration. Love that huge painting on the doors. Still watching as I’m writing here. Will have to rewind and watch again.

Congratulations! Good for you all around, Sandi! I listened to your Sneaky Artist interview and it was just great, worth listening to again. I like the way he interviews, he lets you talk and he tries to relate his experience to yours but doesn't insist on anything, just let's it develop. I played some of his other interviews while painting. Very peaceful -- if you stop listening it's OK, just let it run again and see what you absorb the second time around.

great video. nice to have you back. Those white things are paper tortillons you just use them like a pencil and rub over your pencil/chalk/pastel, charcoal marks to blend them. Once they are dirty you can sharpen of the dirty part with a craft knife like you would a pencil or you can use sand paper to clean them up. Try them out they blend differently to using your finger and can get in smaller spaces.

Be kind to yourself, you DID IT!!!!! I can still remember my first live zoom workshop from March 2020. I went from in person to zoom workshops and was a big step for me, as I don't even like my photo being taken. Time flies by when you're teaching. And yes, it is so hard to paint when you're talking. I never seem to paint as well when doing a live zoom class, it takes some time to get used to it. I wish I had been able to do the workshop, as I adore you, but am in Australia, so time zones make it impossible. HAPPY BIRTHDAY COOPER!!!!! He's gorgeous

Sandi, The joy and fun you have while making art is contagious. You lightened my whole attitude toward art making. My art anxiety is “poof” gone. All the technical info you provide is incredibly helpful, but the biggest nugget for me has been discovering the fun-tastic part of creating. Just can’t thank you enough! PS. Those cigar looking things are called tortillons or blending stumps. You use them to blend graphite, charcoal, soft pencils rather than your fingers.
