Another terrific day for hunting sea glass on my favorite beach. Plenty of exciting finds, beautiful colors & original glass examples in hopes to further enhance the beachcombing experience for all my friends from across the globe.
I appreciate & value your time. While this adventure runs long at 36 minutes I did my all to include only the best parts. The early edit was at the 86 minute mark and I felt the video was good enough to leave at this length. It wasn't easy taking so much out however I can't imagine anyone having that much time to spend without joining me in person!
Thanks everyone for your positive support & love, it means so much to me when I connect with kind hearted people from across the globe.
Please subscribe to my channel so you won’t miss any of my Beachcombing adventures & educational videos! (It only takes a moment, is free & lets me know I'm on the right track which fills my heart with joy!)

Fun Facts about me:
~ I’ve never owned a vehicle (Or Drivers license)
~ Smartphone either
~In 2008 I sold my home in Calgary Alberta & moved over 5000 kilometers to a place I’d never been after deciding life was too short & have been making things up ever since, living free and on my own terms connected to nature. (I'd never seen or heard of sea glass before moving to a road which turns to dirt, then falls into the sea, however its discovery was inevitable as its everywhere!)
~ My first 2 summers on Cape Breton were spent working on a farm, living in a tent next to a cornfield. We had to walk a kilometre to the farmhouse & back everyday for water, showering when it rains or the closest body of water (side note, I learned quickly soap won’t lather with saltwater!).🙃
Those experiences further enhanced my appreciation for life’s simplicities & the importance of living on ones own terms…1000 generations have led to these moments (Long days spent on my knees harvesting are probably why I’m such a good picker!)
~ I'm probably listening to the year"1993" (The music of my youth) although the years which surround it are awesome as well!
~ I’ve never had a resume
~ I'm Left handed (Teaching myself music everything was upside-down!)
~ I spend under $100 on clothing a year. ( Which you might of noticed)
~ I spend $0.00 on takeout food a year however do appreciate the tastes of each and every restaurant chain.
~ Everyday I walk my doggies (off leash by the sea or through the woods) a minimum of 10kms a day. Since moving to Cape Breton we’ve walked the equivalent of earths circumference together without leaving the island! 🌎
~ My 120 year old (one bedroom) home doesn’t have a dryer, or bathtub, or foundation. During the coldest winter chill I’ve gone weeks without running water. It’s “cottage living” year round. A small brook runs behind my home, it’s an ancient game trail once used by indigenous people and despite urbanization any animal imaginable can follow the stream past my window to my amazement…growing up in Montreal the largest undomesticated animal I’d ever encountered was a squirrel.
~ As a youth I wanted to be John Lennon & his words & message have always spoke dearly to me heart.
~ That being said, I live my life like a Beatles song & do my best to “Radiate Everything I Am” without fear & be the change I want to see In the world .
~ Born & raised Anglophone in Montreal, I speak French as well & learned enough Spanish, Croatian & Arabic to get myself into conversations which are over my head but good fun!
~ I don’t eat meat with the exception of when kind neighbors leave a food basket on my front step, then I won’t waste it.
~ In person my excitement level is greatly amplified, no matter the activity.
~ Mostly, If you think I’m passionate about sea glass, you should see me with my children & the special relationship we have. They are my destiny & life’s greatest gift!
~ If you've made it this far theirs's one more thing I wanted you to know however its not easy for me to say:
Every moment I struggle with the Symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome, which might help with understanding why I'm so passionate, have a great memory, a terrible grip & live the life of a sea hermit, safe for my children. (Also always have music on as it helps keep me "out" of my head).
I've such a deep rooted connection to the world around me. Each and every one of you mean so very much to me, I cant thank you enough for your love and positive support!
The world is a better place when we're able to treat a stranger like an old friend and make them feel good about themselves!
Oceans of love all!
Mikee

Hi there Mark! 🌅 I feel Beachcombing is the most universally inclusive pastime & while I’m blessed to do this for a living have always wished I didn’t have to sell my finds however this would require entering the real world & obtaining employment, which in return correlates to much less time hunting treasures. I’ve also been treasurer for the worlds most respected online global sales community “Sea Glass Auctions” for many years and while I’ve observed the values of global commodities & currencies fluctuate daily I’ve not seen the value of genuine sea glass dip since my first sale (December, 2008). Another great video. I always look forward to when you post something new. I got so excited when I saw the marble that I screamed at the TV multiple times. Apparently you heard me. Lol! I got my step daughter into searching for sea glass too. We both find it very therapeutic...and you can't beat the scenery. We have learned so much about our finds from your videos. Thank you so much! We absolutely love your passion and enthusiasm. As for the orange sea glass, just some random guesses: possibly part of a Jeanette Amberina footed candy dish or a hobnail from a piece of Fenton glass or a Murano fruit? I'm reaching and probably way, WAY off. Can't wait to find out what it is. We look forward to your next video.

This is absolutely the correct video adventure Wendy! 🌅 I appreciate your insight so very much as community sharing is our best learning tool.💫 The “top-like” artifact has numbers on it ( not letters) and each opposite side adds up to 7, which is why I still feel strongly this is an alternative die or gaming implement (of chance). My life moves so quickly (and new finds are always abound) making it difficult find research time on these older artifacts however this one definitely deserves to be revisited.🌅 Hugs my friend! ❤️

Another great video Mike! Your orange glass immediately reminded me of the nose from the game Operation, *bzzzt*, haha. It looks like it's solid glass, not domed or hollow though.. Are some indicator lights made that way? (I am no electrician!). Maybe it came from something decorative, or jewelry? Your milk glass find is super interesting, like a teetotum but I have no idea what from. Thanks so much for the grey glass comparison and extra photos. I wonder if the tv glass is a darker grey because it's thicker or if it contains more of the colouring agent. Just wondering "aloud" really. The more I learn the more questions I seem to have. I can only imagine the hundreds of hours you must have spent researching your finds over the years. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Words cannot express how happy it makes me reading your thoughts on my videos, you’ve always got me thinking and I’m always trying to learn as well.🌅 With rumours of a “heavy garbage” event to take place on Cape Breton in the near future I’m hoping my children and I will encounter an old floor model TV or even battery jars to further shed light on these greys. I’ve also encountered big thick grey “privacy” glass blocks one might use either inside or as a small exterior fall off the doorstep. I believe there’s a bank in Sydney with a wall section of these blocks so the use goes beyond residential. I’m really interested in this milk glass find, it’s something I’ve not had the time to dive into...I’m almost saving it like a good book. Things have been quite challenging with the lockdown and homeschooling although I wouldn’t trade the extra time with my little ones for the world! Operation was something I’d never considered for the orange, I wish I could place it in your hands, the other 2 as well because the little extra “cylinder” bottom had me thinking it was anchored to a panel (kind of like the fella in operation, lol) however I’ve found over a dozen very tiny, flat & round clear sea glass shards with 2 even tinier wires remaining. These I strongly believe to be conductivity components for older electrical equipment (perhaps radios). I’m going to locate those and do my best to share them in a future video. Thanks once again for sharing your love and insightful thoughts, please keep them coming my friend! 💫
@oceanluvngal
@oceanluvngal 3 жыл бұрын
@@SeaGlassArchaeology I didn't even think about the fact that you are homeschooling too during this lockdown. I am amazed that you have found time to put together this video! Thanks for patiently answering my questions. Now that you mention the two tiny wires still present in some of your clear/orange glass finds, I am picturing LED semiconductors that are used in all kinds of things. Fingers crossed you will have that "heavy garbage" event, a chance to do a different kind of treasure hunting. I am familiar with the glass blocks you speak of; they were used in our local military base housing entryways, in some local public buildings of the same era, and I still notice them in place of basement windows sometimes. You've inspired me to dig out my meager grey sea glass collection for a closer look. I don't think any pieces are from those bricks (averages 2-3 inches thick) but I may have old tv glass that's 3/4" thick, and battery jar glass that is only 1/4". Happy hunting Mike!

Thanks so much for your kind words and sharing your thoughts.🌅 I value everyone’s opinion & different perspectives are how we grow and evolve in mindset.☀️ It’s ironic you mentioned the “pen” because it’s removal from the beach and talking about environmental responsibility was included in the 50 minutes edited out which I made mention of in the video description. I’m truly glad you brought this up as I never want to seem condescending with respect to rubbish (as a good example, although I’ve always wanted to cover “seeding” as well) and therefore leave these parts out. 💫 I very much appreciate your kind wishes as well! 🧡 Anything else please feel free to let me know! 🙏

Great question! 💫 Unfortunately I’ve always described my home as “An Alchemists Home”. In every nook and cranny I’ve stashed random jars, bag & containers, many unlabelled however when I do make a match to an original bottle the shard gets affixed to that particular bottle and goes into my glass cabinet in the back room, which is 100% storage, no heating. I also keep aside my “Historical sea glass display” which is always changing, and still have hopes we’ll have a tourist season this summer as I’ve been a permanent fixture down at the port since 2010. That marble was something else! It was absolutely insane how I was completely oblivious to its exposure and could of easily left it on the beach. Almost how that dark green bottle lip at the end disappeared on me for a while. Thanks so much for tuning in to this adventure my friend! 🧡🙏🌅

Hi there Sandy! 🌅 Thanks for watching my adventure and sharing your thoughts. 🙏 If you could point out where I’m “missing so much” I’d appreciate it very much! I’m not sure if you’ve watched any of my early videos where I would show my “bounty” & place it on a scale? The “human dredging” technique I employ speaks for itself in these clips. Unfortunately I can’t “change the spots on a leopard”. In life I’m an extremely passionate and emotional individual, every moment of my life is the most exciting moment. If you ever have the chance to meet me in person you’ll see this excitement is something which I cannot turn off. (Subsequently this zest and passion for life is also why I accepted the fact I’m destined to live out my days as a sea hermit, my excitement is difficult to tolerate outside of my children’s eyes...although most people gravitate to me excitement short-term). Hugs!
