CT isn't using mud tires, it's AT tires. The Hummer is 3 seconds 0-60, near half a second more than the CT, but in the video it wasn't in the launch mode (WFT), what can be confirmed by the suspension height. It also appears to launch considerably earlier than the Rivian. CT don't need any of this to be superior.

It'll get stuck going off road, which is why they reviewed a pickup truck on a race track and gave no towing or payload information. I like Jason, but he needs to stick to cars and suv's. It'll be just as off road capable as most half tons. Basically dirt roads. I do not understand why they compared this to the Hummer EV.

I heard a Tesla podcaster today say that "Hagerty is maybe the best KZbin editing he's seen." That's a gross understatement. This is the best video editing, ever. The special effects are constant, and sometimes subtle, and the audio is constantly being edited and spliced in, and there's so much editing that it's basically a Hollywood level production every single time. Today I heard Jason say that it takes them about 4 months to finish a single video, because of the planning and post-editing involving. The Tesla Plaid vs. Lucid Air video has some of the most beautiful video editing I've ever seen in any video period.

19:54 There was frontal crash tests at the point of release for this video.. which were quite shocking due to the hard structure not absorbing any energy. Basically making the passengers take all of the impact.Kind of makes me question other praising facts of the video
@dennisstaines8005
@dennisstaines8005 3 ай бұрын
This happened to Volvo many years ago the car was too stiff and all the energy is transferred to the passengers and they die due to massive internal damage to internals organs that smash into the rib gage. Another car that made this mistake was the Smart car which also drove straight on in corners if you went too fast. The deformation of vehicles is a science and is usually done by very complicated computer based program, as Elon thinks he is be manurfacturing expert in the world, he probably skipped this as he knows better about crash ability as well.
@andrasbiro3007
@andrasbiro3007 2 ай бұрын
@@dennisstaines8005 Seems like you are he one who thinks he knows better than Elon and all Tesla engineers. For starters, Elon likely knows more about manufacturing than anyone else on the planet, but that doesn't even matter, because most of the work is done by other engineers. Then, as they video also explained, Tesla makes the safest cars in the world, so why would they make an exception now? And of course Tesla has an in-house software for crash test simulations, which they showed to be extremely accurate. And someone compared the CT crash test video to an F-150's, and both stopped in about the same distance. And that's just one component of crash safety.

Its sad and frustrating because this one video really tainted the integrity of what was once a great channel. There have been a few questionable reviews, but none that were so blatantly void of any 'true' journalistic intent as this was. Having said that, Henry, and even Jason, still do great and informative reviews. Its just that now, what Jason says is taken with the proverbial 'pinch of salt', even if it is true and unbiased. The recent Piëch review is a great example of this because it captured true facts and unbiased opinions of the rise and impact of one of the most influential people in the history of the motor vehicle, but I was sat there still uhm-ing and ah-ing even though I knew the story already and was thoroughly clued up about Piëch and what he did/was.

9:30 you can't double dip on the higher voltage advantage. Either you make the cables smaller or increase the efficiency. If you decrease the cable size then you are decreasing the resistance and therefore increase losses. There is still some overall advantage to both but it isn't just the best of both worlds. Also with EVs, higher voltage is not always more efficient. All of the switching components, e.g. your inverters, have higher switching losses at higher voltages. In general, the only main benefit of higher voltage comes with charging since charging has the highest currents and charging cables are mostly current limited. 10:15 48V isn't as common because it is just not that easy. Most car electronics don't even operate on 12V but on 3.3-5V (microcontrollers, CAN, logic gates, etc). Switching from 12V to 3.3/5V is relatively straight forward, but gets much less efficient and bulky at 48V. Additionally, higher voltages = more magic black smoke if you put the wrong voltage in the wrong place, so you need larger protection circuits and more caution as well. 11:25 what about the Lexus RZ 450e? Pretty sure that came with steer by wire first.

If u got the money the hummer EV really does look a million time better espicially in black or orange. And it does 0-60 in 3 seconds while weighing 10,000 lbs. Speed of a truck doesn't really matter IMHO, looks and height is what makes it cool.

@@kopkiwi08 470 miles really is close enough to 500 to call it good. Saying that the truck hasn't reached its promised "performanc" is a bit of a stretch, clearly the shortfall there is in the energy density of the 4680 batteries, so tesla put in an optional extra trunk-mounted bank of them to reach that higher range. If you want to complain about the fact that, with or without that option, it's a way more expensive product than promised, fair and total agreement from me. But to call the whole thing bs is a bit.... wel.... bs.

I'm impressed. I watched this thinking it would be yet another example of vaporware not living up to hype, but fair is fair. They actually delivered. The in-house battery design and manufacture was a particularly interesting and laudable achievement, as well as that very practical turning radius, the ultra-slippery CD and of course, the crazy accelerattion stats. Hats off to Tesla's engineers. You definitely stepped up.

I saw the intro to the E Hummer and thought the concept was so misguided as to be a complete waste of materials. I wish I could hear the design team discussing the features and getting amped, and not a single spoilsport in the room had a voice to question power to weight ratio and charging that monster at an Electrify America for an hour and a half at full juice. Each and every person involved with the design, from the idiots who conceived it, to the bean counters who green-stamped it, to the goompers who service the equipment involved in manufacturing it need a swift kick in the groin.
