I have good memories of Dragonstone, but the hitbox in the combat was so frustrating, especially if an enemy was up screen from you and you were facing them, timing any sort of strike was extremely difficult, especially for me as a young lad. It did look beautiful though.

Worst thing I remember was when you got hit. Cause you can't hit back while getting hit, so being drawn into a receiving end of a hit combo was possible and often deadly. xD

I'm not sure "work" fits in that sentence. He eats, that's for sure. I've seen him sleep, more than once. And I think he's in the toilet at least 3-4 times per day. But working? I don't think so. He didn't even add a drum roll to a video once when I asked him to.

Hybris will always be a masterpiece for me, the sound and music and gameplay. the pseudo sequel battle squadron will never be as good. never understood back in the day why the bigger ship wasn't the one send to decimate the aliens and they send the puny player ship. if you press space you can use the smart bomb, holding fire and moving joy counterclockwise you get to separate your power up to shoot independently

Rajd Przez Polskę says a lot about late 80’s Poland & has a real charm to those of us that weren’t there. I think it deserves extra points for the cultural story it tells with the choice of cars available. Don’t discount it for the thing that makes it so interesting to outsiders. I love defender so will probably love Overkill? Nemac IV: Director’s Cut shows what a late, powerful Amiga can do much more than it’s achievements on lower end Amigas, in my opinion. Never played Odyssey but I will give it a look? I could have sworn Dragonstone came out for DOS? never played it but from what you’ve said I don’t think I’ll bother? Borobodour is quite a name! Genuinely a hard to pronounce name (for English speakers) can kill a game & in this case it may have because it’s another I don’t know? Airtaxi is so much more fun than the… “home made” graphics suggest & I enjoy it 1 player & 2. Forest Dump Forever!!! Is again new to me but there are more than enough good platformers that it doesn’t sound like it needs checking out? Hybris is a great arcade shooter, especially for 1988, that never came out in arcades & is well worth a play, if you love shooters. Great video. Once again a good mix of stuff I know, suff I don’t & the odd game I don’t need to bother with, thank you.

It really does say a lot about it (RPP about Poland). The country started opening up towards the western influences, and people began to have more and more money. Perhaps not a lot by any modern at the time standards, but much more than before. So, naturally everyone wanted a car. But since even they had more than before it was still hardly enough for a new BMW, Mercedes or Toyota, the country had to find a solution. And it was licensing simples, less expensive car models from other manufacturers and then making them and selling for cheap(-ish). So, there were just a few you saw everywhere with these better and more expensive ones often being a symbol of status. Things changed now, but it was an interesting time. But the game... It still sucks. ;) Nemac was interesting for many reasons, and also such a missed opportunity for so many others. But by then, whomever still had an Amiga, was just happy to have another FPS, even if average games in the genre on PC where usually much better and faster. Odyssey is loved by most Amiga gamers. So, chances are that you'll like it too. Not because it's common and I'm so special, none of that, it's more cause I'm an odd gamer, and often things that other don't mind frustrate me, and those that other don't like, I don't mind as much. I'm weird that way. And it's not only games, it goes for TV shows and movies too. Also, why I so love incredibly bad movies. Not those that failed a little in their hopes of grabbing audiences, but those that from the get go were so bad, that noone even hoped that they would ever reach the theatres. Dragonstone never came out for DOS. But don't discount it because of what I said. It's a good game. It's just an early Zelda with better presentation, so not really a deep RPG experience. But if you like those, you'll like it too. If not, then good call, don't play it. ;) Yes! I mean YES! Borobodour's name could've been a reason. At least partly. I mean would I buy the next, let's say, Raiden, a well known name and game, or something that I would never be able to pronounce when talking to friends? Makes sense. Especially in the 90s, when hardly ever you got to learn about all games you came across before trying them out. Not all were covered in gaming mags after all. OMG! I don't know if it's intentional or not but Forest Dump is literally that the game should be called. ;) Oh, the next video while not about Amiga, will have quite a few big and fun games. :)

@@OldAndNewVideoGames And still I would be ashamed to release RPP so late in Amiga life. I saw images in Secret Service (or was it Top Secret or Amiga Computer Studio) back in the day and I was not even tempted to pirate such a crap :/. Crazy Cars 3, Jaguar XJ 220 or greatest one of them all - Lotus series was way ahead in term of playability and graphics.

Gawd, its a shame I never had an Amiga. They were ahead of the curve for a really long time. This is all eye-opening to me. I expect that Amiga shovelware was generally better than early DOS shovelware. Anyways... Overkill LOOKS beautiful and plays really smoothly. I just wish it did one original gameplay thing. It was a mistake in Rajd Przez Polske to make the camera angle jerk up and down to that mad degree. I'm English and I've only EVER come across "lido" in crosswords.

You can still play some of these gems through emulation without the need to invest into real hardware, which I must add, is extremely expensive now if you wanna get it in good condition. I have an older video on how to emulate Amiga on PC on my channel. It's a bit old and rough but all the concepts in it are still up to date. And shovelware stuff on the Amiga was same as on PC, there were some good ones, and some really really bad ones too. :)

@OldAndNewVideoGames
@OldAndNewVideoGames 8 ай бұрын
@@EvilStreaks Yeah, while it's not difficult per say, having to figure it out first few times, especially if someone never had an Amiga can be tricky. But after few successful attempts it becomes a second nature. A good short summary of the configurations would be this, I suppose: 1. Amiga 500: kickstart 1.3, 0.5MB Chip + 0.5MB Fast RAM, OCS Chipset 2. Amiga 500+: kickstart 2.04, 1MB Chip RAM, ECS Chipset 3. Amiga 600: kickstart 2.05, 1MB Chip RAM, ECS Chipset 4. Amiga 1200: kickstart 3.0 or 3.1, 2MB Chip RAM, AGA Chipset There are some changes you can make to these to make them run faster or for extra compatibility reasons if something fails, but generally speaking most games should run on 1, and those that don't will on 4. Oh, and for best compatibility it's best to keep drive emulation at 100% speed. I usually go for 800% or Turbo, and if that fails drop down to 100%, but if you want a hassle free albeit slower loading configuration, 100% is the speed to have set there.

I never had an Amiga but I've been curious about its library for a while. I'm especially curious about Dragonstone. I love action adventure RPGs and I've been playing the ones I missed. I had a lot of consoles growing up, and a PC, but never an Amiga. So it's a big gap in my videogame knowledge and I'd really like to become more familiar with it. There's another Zelda clone called Speris Legacy and another action adventure RPG called Darkmere I'm also curious about but I think Darkmere is on Atari ST too. I've heard there are a couple more games that are somewhat Zelda-like but I don't know how close they are

Well, Amiga had an incredibly vast library of standard games and another one of these of Public Domain titles. First of all, thank you! Especially that your comment is much nicer than the last I received about it. It literally said "Your English is shit, bye." ;) We are taught foreign languages in all schools, primary, secondary, high school and then in uni/college. It's more often than not English, and then German, with other languages being less popular. But at least in my experience teachers really either don't have a working knowledge of the language, or know only what's covered in their textbooks. I grew up in a small town though, so perhaps it's not the case in bigger cities. I however learned English by playing video games and watching movies and TV series in their original undubbed versions. And later on by reading books. Today, I consume all my media in English, and really don't watch anything in Polish. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just there's much bigger choice of it in English, be it on YT, Netflix or whatever, and often of higher quality, and only as many hours in the day. :)
