The man doesn't take himself too seriously. He came from humble beginnings. He is bold, decicive, practical, easy-going, intelligent, patriotic, and more importantly, he strikes me as being transparent. He is the type of leader that Africa needs, and it also helps that he is young. Botswana couldn't have elected a better leader, in my opinion. 🇿🇦
@rositascarborough5751Ай бұрын
Agree and societies deserve the leaders they get. Batswana have cultivated leadership excellence........from all telling Masisi was voted out because he began to demonstrate qualities that are anathema to this standard. The rest of us on the continent need to LEARN from this example. Retrogression accelerates when you normalize and tolerate mediocrity.

Lets wish him luck and give him our support, for sure. But we have to be realistic- we have seen too many false dawns around the world. Presidents do not have any power to make changes, in the scheme of things. The systems of government are set up in a way to maintain the status quo, esp if folks are benefitting from misgovernance.

Listening to President Boko for the first time gives me comfort that the Botswana people have made a choice for vision, action and advancement. What is most significant is that he understands that processing ( manufacturing/value add) is key to improving the life and returns to Botswana . I will follow him with keen interest bearing in mind that the Botswana people democratically joined the African revolution for betterment, transparency and the dawn of African leadership free, hopefully, of western influence. If my assessment is correct, Africans are awoke to progressive and patriotic leadership, similar to the revered Ibrahim Traorè. I am bouyed by the fact that a coup is not the only way for visionary, peaceful, patriotic and a sovereign people are part of thought process of my fellow African man.

Quite impressed by the thoughtfulness of President Boko's articulation of the thinking that is behind the proposed policies of his new government. Cold facts and solid evidence will guide his policies, always being alive and sensitive to Botswana's interests and the realization that Botswana is not and cannot be an island unto itself. Now we eagerly wait to see how the real work on the ground -- the implementation of these policies -- unfolds.❤

He reminds me of what they said about Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe, who had the same path, village boy, goes to missionary school, becomes student leader from primary school to varsity, becomes a lecturer and is fond of writing and debating.
