Many years ago I've played a Canopus set and to my ears was the best sounding drums I've ever heard
@johnrobinson83234 жыл бұрын
For many years I've been a metal snare kinda guy but after seeing many of your snare drum videos I'm starting to appreciate the great sound of wood snares too.

That black brass one would be mine right now if I had my stimulus !! And the walnut one was also my favorite wood one.

i was waiting and hoping for this one. the 14x6.5 solid maple and the black nickel brass are my favorites.

I've been a regular buyer of Canopus gear for several years now(Bolt tight washers and wires) as well as all three sizes of the Zelkova offerings, I'd say that Shane gives solid recommendations here. They really are the real deal. As do they consistently put fresh offerings out, without lowering quality from current trends. And their price point is competitive. Only the most elite custom builds from small essoteric drum builders, exceed Canopus quality but, you will pay much, much more for them. Canopus IS... money well spent.

They all sounded great! If I had to pick one it would probably be the maple black sparkle but tough call to pick just one!

🥇Black Nickel Over Brass - Besides the sound, I feel that in a world of great looking and sounding wooden snare drums (I’ve got a Yamaha Hybrid Oak snare), a Canopus brass snare really stands out among its competitors. What’s the deal with Canopus snare wires? Please consider doing a comparison video. Promise I’ll get a couple of sets if you ship to QC. Thanks guys! Stay safe :)

Thanks, George! Hope you're doing well. We've got the wires comparison on our laundry list!

I like the lower and higher tuning variations, but is it possible to also incorporate some moon gel on the heads? An on and off type of thing. Sometimes the ring of an open snare hides the real tone of the snare.

Someday I will get to own a Canopus snare drum. My favorites were the black nickel over brass and the 14 x 6.5 solid ply maple. The ebony Maple sounded great, too. BTW, what is the ride cymbal being used in the video? It sounds great! Nicely crashable, and a good mix of wash and definition.

Hey guys, I just want to know your opinion. I want to buy my very first drum kit and here are my list: Pearl export, gretsch energy, ludwig evolution and yamaha rydeen. What would you prefer and why? And any other suggestions? I would love to buy the stage customs but that is too expensive here in my country
