This must be part of the old Varsity line, Cambridge-Oxford, on which I did a return trip in 1965. I seem to remember that we were steam hauled.

I agree that the infernal chattering was a little off putting plus a few typos on the station names - one being the "d" missing on Woburn Sands, but apart from that this line needs promoting for better usage until it reopens as part of the new Varsity Line that's coming soon?

At bletchley that first station is all banged up and those bridges are so rusty! Yet once you get past that crap the rest is double track and in surprisingly good condition. Then it gets crappy again at bedford - that junction needs pulling up and completely rebuilding! Wonder why the bits at bletchley and bedford are single track and crap? Guessing those kids got out at st johns due to probably not having tickets and the man at bedford station comes close to being flattened.

There are two trains running on the line, you don't need double track right to the end. Bedford is a large depot, space is limited and a single track snaking by it is ok for a frequency of service going passed it. I would agree though, the Bletchley does look a big "banged up"

I wonder how many of those stations will get chopped when it becomes east west rail? Must have taken hours to get from oxford to cambridge on the old varsity line with all those stations. A good number of them serve nothing at all, yet that last bit that has houses and really needs a station doesnt have one at all.

Not once was safety or the RMT mentioned, and he's talking to children while driving a train, are you expecting him to start giving a detailed explanation of why "DO very bad" when the mood is supposed to be light hearted? As above, I'm not against Driver Only Operation and there are many good points for it, but your statement is just as dishonest as those who say "those who want DOO don't care about safety and only care about profit!"
