This not Ghana, please, this is a small town in Ghana called Cape Coast. It's like something happening in some small corner of the state of Maine(in the U.S) and everyone keep saying GHANA GHANA is responsible for this?? Please people be careful! There are people in that same small town of Cape Coast who havent heard of this story, let alone the whole of Ghana being responsible for this, as diasporans sitting in America keep referring to! Leslie, you are not going to tear Ghana apart with your mouth. Watch Aleta Isreal, she came to Ghana with $3,000 and made it. Africa is a huge continent. Maybe Ghana is not for you. I am a Ghanaian. I live in America, and I am from Cape Coast. I subscribed to your channel. I loved your quest, but we will not allow you to destroy Ghana. When you had your land issue and the guy was disrespectful to you. All Ghanaians in the Diaspora and those at home were outrage. I wrote to Wode Maya to intervene, but demagoguery is something that doesn't sit well with Ghanaians. Ghana is peaceful and great, and we love GH. Gh is young, nothing to be compared to Los Angeles, but it is a peace of paradise and a place you call your own and your home period.

Ghana needs to make rules and regulations to protect the Diaspora from fraudulent schemes in the purchase of land and elicit strong enforcement against any such schemes against those wanting to come back home and give the Diaspora automatic citizenship to encourage them to invest without the worry of losing their land in purchase agreements'. There should be a formal process. Divided we are weak and their is strength in numbers. Both Ghana and the Diaspora living in America benefit from joint ventures. @@iAmLeslieJones the "recalled " used in that statement means reminded in this sense not recall as in withdrawal. Recalled as in remembering an event is what they meant. Remember Ghana used British English and there are lots of words that can mean otherwise but same word. That statement clearly means in a layman's words that they remember the incident on that location at that said date. Please don't get people misinformed because words can mean a lot. True Ghana is still developing and there are litigation issues. Back in the day you couldn't even own land in Ghana unless you let a local Ghanaians buy it and registers it in their names for you if you weren't a Ghanaian citizen or a Ghanaian passport holder. Businesses had to be opened with a Ghanaian citizen as a counterparts or partnership in order to get authorised. This was made to prevent the influx of people abroad coming in Ghana to buy most of the properties and lands with their dollars which supersedes the locals from acquiring properties. So these laws were made to protect the locals and prevent or deter people from the west not to takeover the properties from the locals with their money because this would in the long run get to be overpriced and people can't afford. When these laws changed and now anyone could buy a property look at the house prices in Ghana now and the monthly rent in Accra and some parts of Ghana. It's gone ridiculously high because they are renting and selling in dollars or it's equivalent. There are some neighbourhoods the buildings are still empty because of their high rate. And this was what the old rules was trying to prevent. Also when land is allotted for a certain amount of years same there has not been any further development as to what was initially agreed and the annual land fees are not paid over the years the agreement can be terminated at a certain period within the agreement made or may not be permitted to be renewed after the lease period ends. Most lands are sold as lease for 99 or 100 years to Ghanaians and 50 years to foreigners (non- Ghanaian citizens or non-Ghanaian passport holders). And there are termination clauses that people fail to read to understand what it actually means. I would attach a link on the bottom with a local who helps the diaspora relocate and is part of the Asebu Freeland for diaspora person, not sure if he works with the chiefs or whoever exactly but is a very core person in that project who dropped the video with details. Leslie, in your last video I watched, you implored people to wait and watch what Ekow Simpson was going to come out with his investigation and reportage concerning this issue, since you trusted Ekow to shed credible insight into the issue. My question to you: Did you follow your own recommendation before releasing your latest video? If not, go and watch his video so you may see/hear the other side. And please, for fairness sake, stop using words like "illegal demolition" before you know the whole truth. And it's also not fair for people to start painting the entire country with one (bad) broad brush just because of one unfortunate incident. It will be akin to the Whiteman wrongly branding all African American women as "angry". The Ghana bashing over this incident must stop. From here on, everybody should take a deep breath and wait for the outcome of the government investigation.

I believe the Diaspora should be able to purchase land without worry of schemes. There need to be a special task force in place in Ghana to make the process of land purchase simple for the Diaspora. The Diaspora is owed special treatment in land ownership and should be given special privileges' for those who want to create jobs and bring value to the people in villages and Ghana and Africa. The Diaspora, that have no criminal backgrounds should be vetted into Africa so the transition to the motherland will be like it was always their home, that is as if they never left and free citizens. Africa as a hold need to lift all VISTA and give all people from the Diaspora a path back home. The diaspora is not buying land. They are buying leaseholds. Leaseholds are contractually a tenancy. Tenancy in respect similar to that of rental property. So what happens in America when you rent a house? If you break the lease agreement you are evicted. That is what makes leasehold property that is vacant land so risky. If for any reason you are evicted or cannot renew your lease terms, unless stated in your contract, everything reverts back to the owner of the land (including any improvements or structures built).

Ghana needs to provide the Diaspora facts and circumstances. I will at this time not invest in Ghana. I will not buy land. I am hoping real answers are provided to what happened to these good people that came back to invest in the Motherland. What is going on here? This has brought me back to reality. Are these the same people that help the occupiers enslave the Diaspora. Are these types of people still there? Now my mind is thinking why would I go back their to Ghana, West Africa, when this is the same place that put us in ships and allowed the evil Occupiers to enslave our people brought there. I have always wanted to come back but now seeing this has made me think. Is Ghana ready to take us back. Are those evil people still in control there. Will we face problems far worst than what we have seen here in America where it is bad but now could we be heading back to unresolved problems facing Ghana. Is Ghana going to be like America. What is going on here. My eyes are opening. Ghana may not be ready for the Diaspora return. I see jealousy and hate is still there. I see how so many crabs are attacking other Africans in Kenya and other parts of Africa. My decision is now whether to move to Kenya or somewhere else. If I want to move to something similar to America, it would be so called South Africa. But that would be unlikely. Now I am confused. I have watched KZbinrs in Ghana attacking other KZbinrs in Kenya. It is crazy. They hate their own people. They are like crabs that do not want to see others do well. The government needs to put an end to youtubers in Ghana attacking other KZbinrs in Africa. It is so embarrassing that West African KZbinrs in Ghana attacking other people of Africa. These KZbinrs attacking other Africans makes Africa look bad. I see most of it coming out of West Africa and not from countries like Kenya. I have found that many Kenyan KZbinrs do not attack Ghana or West Africa. They do not show signs of Jealousy and hate like the Ghana KZbinrs. What is wrong with Ghana. These people make your people look bad because they are so envious and have so much hate against others in Africa. They attack their own people instead of the people that occupied their lands. My problem with Ghana and not Africa as a whole. I may have to invest elsewhere and buy land elsewhere. I live in America. This is a land that is not from where my Ancestors were born. It is a land in which my Ancestors were enslaved. I live in Georgia. I know we were enslaved. I know the stories that were passed down to us and the atrocities against our people that was worst than it is today. But Still I wonder. My parent have always told me things about Africa that I refused to believe, and now I am thinking are they right. I will not give up on the Motherland. Even though We built America. America is on a downward spiral. We see that. Now it is our opportunity to bring back our knowledge and experiences back to the Motherland. But still I wonder after seeing the bad news to my fellow Diaspora, makes me think is Ghana ready to take me and others back. Until their are answers, I will visit but I will not be investing at this time in Ghana. It maybe somewhere else in the Motherland.

@@medicineman3344 There are so many things wrong in America. I could write a book on it. It is a country that is called debt nation. It can just print money and live by the barrel of the gun. It is a 2 Party System corrupt system that builds prisons just to keep the minority population in check and to make sure that those who don’t follow the system be in prison. The prison is housed with people who cannot afford a lawyer and cannot pay fines or make bail. So, people fear the system that is made only for the so called white man which many call devil den. The occupiers have created a nation that have the most powerful weapons ever devised. The only thing is they are afraid the Trojan horse that they brought in ships are awakening and coming out. The fear the people that was brought over in ships and enslaved there for over 400 years. Many have awakened. Some of you this African Americans are really becoming a nuisance. It seems they never taught you fact finding before coming out to spew nonsense. There’s no damn compensation for anyone. First of all the land was a leased land for 50 years period and 25 years renegotiation period out of the 50. Now the contract they agreed on was breached. These Black Americans failed to honour the monetary aspect of the contract and the main reason for which the land was leased out which is to develop the place. After the 25 years period elapsed they were called to the negotiating table to see the way forward but they disrespected the authorities by refusing to show up. If it was just the aim of the authorities to demolish the land they would have done that years ago since they contract was clearly breached. But even with our little education we know how to respect agreement but the so called educated ones did the opposite because they probably thought we are fools here in Ghana 🇬🇭. The land is needed for better purposes and these people clearly have no intentions of honouring the agreement even after breaching it. I asked a simple question if this was America will they still be holding onto the land after breaching the terms of the contract? The fact that Ghanaians are seen as peaceful and welcoming people doesn’t mean any idiot can come here and take us for a fool. If you don’t know how to respect contracts we will teach you how to do so. And to those of you who don’t know, that place was a night club back in the days before it was later leased out so there were some buildings already in existence before one or two buildings were added by these black Americans. No development was made on the land ever since they took charge of it. And you this woman you are in the habit of lying. This was how you lied you were assaulted by a real estate agent meanwhile upon investigation it turned out that wasn’t the case. Ghana is not the only country in Africa if you know u can’t stay here get the fuck out with your bad attitude. No one is going to tolerate any bullshit here. Leslie you’re going to play such a key role in land purchasing for those returning - we have to be cautious about bringing the western construct of land rights and impose it on indigenous traditions - instead we should use our knowledge of that construct , extract only the good, study traditional land distribution and then seek to build a contemporary African version of land ownership- property taxes for instance is a no no - since one never truly owns the land -Africa is where all Africans can own - so let’s get to building with a 100 yr vision

He mentioned the history of the area as if that makes a difference. Stating that the diasporan owners never made full payment nor developed the area as promised. I doubt that not paying in full was the issue since diasporans are use to paying their bills for housing in the West. Unfortunately, these Ghanaians are getting a bad reputation for being fraudulent due to excessive greed.
