@@920_Ly Of course I was referring to unmonitored foursomes. -16 is in the range of a believable winning score. I once played in a scramble with a +3, 2, 5 (myself), and a 25 handicapper. We won, on a short course, with -17. We had one eagle and 2 pars, with three 2-putt birdies on par 4's (our +3 could bomb it!). Yeah but this score of 46 is beyond a stretch. They aced a par 4, a double eagle, 4 eagles, and 12 birdies. I don't care how many mulligans they got the odds of them shooting a 46 is past the point of impossible. On top of that every other team could buy the same mulligans and none got remotely close to their score... They beat the next team by 7 strokes. Clear their name? They look more like clowns than before. The throwing of the ball and mulligans honestly doesn't explain how the score was that low.

Thing is, people are irritated by it because we have all been to these type of events where people come in with ridiculous scores and have clearly cheated, especially when there are good prizes to be won for winning. Exactly. This was a scramble that was local in my area. Lets be real, there is ALWAYS some kind of cheating going on in scrambles like this. And they too were heckled, I was sad because I know these guys and they wouldn’t even improve their lie when the rest of our group is playing it up. I believe these guys and think the haters should practice more and bitch less.

My dad is turning 70 next year and I wouldn’t be surprised if he shot 70 in a round. His drives go 210, he Carries Driver 3,4,5,7,9 wood he’s had 3 hole in ones in my life time I’m aware of. He plays to a 7 and he’s a big guy and you’d never expect him to kick your ass in golf

All I have to say about 'having a good day' is I have had 3 in my decades of playing golf. You just can't predict this stuff. Legit 16 handi - playing a very well maintained course, not long (6500ish) but plenty of trouble to be had and not flat or straight. This was my local tournament group who played tournaments together once a month - handicap determined from previous tournament play in that group only. I just felt good that day - pretty much everything went where I intended, and the putts kept falling. When you get in trouble and you have to turn your club upside down and chip one in from your wrong side, you know it's your day! Shot a straight up 75 and had never broken 80 before. They pretended to be pissed but they were pretty happy about what was going to happen to my handicap. :) oh btw - did I say I stayed and bought drinks until we all went home ? That was as much fun as shooting the score. My point is, why can't we be happy for people when they pull a one-time success out of their arse ???

I've played and won my share of four man scrambles, and I've won a lot of long drive contest in the scramble. Every time I'd go up to get my prize, people would be mumbling this and that. I'm six foot tall and at the time about 185. Some guy 6'4" would think he could hit it further. There's always people out there that aren't good at golf that can't phathom shooting 20-22 under par without cheating. That doesn't mean it can't be done. All of my friends are scratch golfers or plus handicappers. If you're making putts, there's no limit to how low you can go. You can hit it to fourty foot and make it or hit it to six foot and have four guys miss it. I think the guy is telling the truth, and golf is a game of honor. I feel he should have gotten the benefit of the doubt. Who wants to be ridiculed for a fifty dollar gift certificate? They paid more money than that just to play in the event and help raise money.

I stopped playing in these scrambles because I refuse to be a part of the cheating. It's all I've ever seen firsthand in every tournament. I was a scratch golf guy in my good playing days and every team including some religious based tourneys still wanted to cheat. Hard to believe the 46 but I guess this is also a pay to win situation on a short course.

@@jefepeeps4308 Yup, what a joke. Throwing golf balls is very difficult, like throwing a whiffle ball, no accuracy at all. They cheated, not slightly, but horribly. A disgrace really and this guy's defense is so unjustifiable and simply ridiculous. "All it takes is one good shot," whatever dude.

Great content. Couple of comments because I am still not buying it. - the older man said 2 of the players were +3 handicap. His story doesn’t back this up. - your telling me, they had 4 throws and all executed perfectly: not happening. If you don’t believe me, try throwing a golf ball 50 yards away and tell me how many you sink. - Steve play, even being scratch, doesn’t add up. Look at the match that was recently played and see how many times the pros missed the green or hit bad shots. I personally believe they probably shot 50 (or really close to it ) and pencil whipped a few holes to win and they didn’t need it.

To the scramble team... In my opinion, your team is handling this all wrong. Embrace it! You won with a 46... get some shirts and hats made and sell them online. Hiding in the shadows makes it look like you did something wrong. Own it!

We just played one where we lost to a group of 80 year-olds who dropped a 52. I know old men can still hit the ball, and they hit from the forward tees, but seeing them on the range before the event was what made their score suspect to say the least.

It's definitely possible for a HIO on a par 4 with a hand toss that doesn't count as a stroke. My team tossed in from the fringe (laying 2) on a par 5, which netted an albatross. We have some younger guys in our group that can drive over 300 yards, so it's doable to get on or around the green on a par 4.

They definitely took advantage of the "freebies". In most tournaments where I have seen throws, greens are excluded. And, never can you use them back to back. Also, in most scrambles that I play in, mulligans can only be for putts. But, Im not sure if that is helping or not. The rules have to be specific. I would like to see the posted rules for that tournament. It could have a 8-9 stroke difference.

You HAVE TO make a video where you and 3 other guys, use the same amount of mulligans/throws and tries to beat their score!!

I feel for these guys. I’ve been on a team that shot 44. It was an easy short course where we played one up and two of the guys on our team, one a single digit handicap, got to play even farther up because of their age. We had 4 throws that didn’t count as a stroke, 8 gimmies from anywhere on the green and more. On one par 5 I put on a tutu so I could hit from the ladies tee leaving us 80 yards to the green then we used a throw from 4’ to card a 2. We won by 7 and definitely got some grief there but nobody posted it on social media.
@Dirty14South Жыл бұрын
Yeah but they didn’t have all those advantages your saying there.. they had some but not all of those.. and they may have been playing it a little shorter then normal but that is one of the tougher courses in the state.. it wasn’t possible to shoot that.. this guy is full of shit

I appreciate you doing this. I hate that people feel like they can say anything online, that they wouldn't say to someone's face directly. I've played in multiple charity scrambles. If you use your advantages smartly and pair that with great players, you can shoot very low. The last scramble I was in actually had a handicap system to balance things out. They had 3 random holes picked that no one knew, that they used the teams scores on after the round to make a handicap adjustments.
