Thank you David for another very informative video presentation! We're oner of JVC's factory direct dealers and we ar included in their very first allocation/shipment of the NX900 and NZ800. I'll immediately set them up in our new suite of 16 Cinema Demo rooms.

Were you able to see any content with the new NZ900? If so, is it also that much better than the NZ9?

You can get the NZ8 now while the stock lasts because they have dropped the price in the anticipation of these projectors.

@@DavidSusiloUnscripted ok, but I will wait, yet again! Seems the improvements you mentioned are significant and I do not want to be behind when I make the “decision”. Fall CEDIA is coming and JVC seems to like to be the oddball by making announcements when no one else is . . . So I expect they will do the same in July? We’ll wait and see . . . but great that JVC gave you an invite to see their latest improvements. Awesome!

What are you thoughts between NZ800 and NZ9? Looks like NZ800 offers the same contrast as NZ9 now
@DavidSusiloUnscripted
@DavidSusiloUnscripted 2 ай бұрын
Native contrast of the chip can’t and shouldn’t be the only parameter of quality. It’s the combination of all video processing, lens, laser control, motion control are parts of the overall image quality. The NZ800 is still slight but noticeably better than the NZ9 now. So if you’re buying a new projector, get the NZ800. But if you already own the NZ9, there is no real need to upgrade your NZ9 to NZ800. I have the NZ8 and seriously contemplating to get the NZ800

@DavidSusiloUnscripted I really can't understand why they don't work on some kind of masking technology. Blacks are still video black if there's any light being projected, the scene has a candle for instance and the whole screen is gray. If they could drop the black floor buy half even that would make a huge improvement in contrast

Hi David. Another great video. I absolutely love your content. It’s been very helpful for me as I am a new JVC nz7 owner. I have a quick question David. Yesterday when I powered up my NZ7 I noticed a greeny kind of haze in the middle of the screen. I walked out of my theater and came back after five minutes and it was gone. is this somewhat normal operation for the laser? What are your thoughts on this David? Keep up the great work love your channel.

You need to call your calibrator and ask your money back, those offset settings will totally mess up your near black white balance, you need to check the contrast and 1-2-3-4-5% ire gamma and grayscale tracking, its a typical ISF/ PVA textbook calibration clusterfuck that makes more harm than good. And no we cant see that the black is black on pop demo material like that, it makes even a DLP look black. Everybody opening up the JVC menu and finding Offset adjustments like that and the blue picture tone at -9 should have an alarm bell ringing, knowing that will not be worth looking at for evaluation. Lets hope someone will review multiple production samples and actually make objective useful measurements and include black uniformity measurements and paper test pictures, and not least test the white uniformity in max contrast setup -15 iris, to see if they have corrected the design flaw of the previous 4K models with low iris settings making very very bad white uniformity distortion. And has the issue with dust on the panels been solved, specially effecting those ceiling mounted.

LOL. Nobody check anything lower than 5% IRE on a projector. Even with TV you only calibrate 2.5 IRE and 5 IRE.

@@DavidSusiloUnscripted Really? so no contrast measurement ? Do anyone know what the offset adjustments do?, and what level is then measured when adjusting the offset? typical 20-80% ire balance? Every hobby calibrator i have trained know how to do contrast and low level ire measurements and calibration with a cheap i1display pro meter and free HCFR software, its simple, and as JVC typically have 1% ire around 100-300% elevated on a 2.4 gamma preset its one of the most important calibration points on a high contrast displays if you dont want washed out low level content like the Harry potter HD collection, and typically the offsets need to be balanced/ equal set, otherwise you make a massive color shift in the near black scenes, if you dont know how to calibrate ill recommend setting all offset to -4 and then adjust the gamma using the manual multipoint gamma tool for the 5% ire and up. offset is not a 20% ire grayscale calibration adjustment, it is to adjust the black clipping on each panel. Try the HCFR low end calibration they have a automated 1-2-3-4-5% ire generator and measure. Its a free software, or you can generate your own custom workflow in Calman, or ask others to share it if you dont know how.

@@DavidSusiloUnscripted Its a bit concerning having people review products if they dont know how they work, and in this case general calibration understanding, for a proper review you need to be able to document sample contrast, and measure potential bright corners, to see if the better uniformity claim is right, or we still can find up to 75% contrast drop in corners, like all the previous models. Ill be happy to teach you how so we can get some sample data from around the world as there is typically huge sample to sample tolerances.
