Such a beautiful soul. And, can you believe this AWESOME man, didn’t know he could sing, even though he could sing the roof off any house. This interview was so pleasant!! It’s amazing how humble he was, because he wouldn’t allow the host to give him any credit on anything. And a great sense of humor😇!! Back in the 80s, I had an innocent crush on him 💗 . No doubt, he’s resting with Jesus!😇

Man, oh, man, oh, man (I could go on forever). Did the world win by the voice of this man and did the world lose by his death. I love James Ingram to the CORE! What a history, what a story, especially the bit about Sir Quincy Jones. The fact that James Ingram and a multitude of artists came from a gospel background speaks volumes about their success. Rest in peace, legend

This is an awesome interview, because James wouldn’t let the host give him any singing credit as though he wasn’t a great singer. That’s amazing, because James didn’t have no ideal how awesome he was, at least when he met Quincy. He thought he needed to get the rasp out of his voice. I respect James even more, though he’s with the Lord!!

Although he didn’t mention Rubbertown Sound which was before Revelation Funk, we here in Akron aka Rubbertown would pick James up from high school to go to our rehearsals or shows. We made a 45 record with him playing keys on songs I/we Lucky Charms girls group wrote. My brother James Helped fund the organization and created the record label logo. We who remain must now have to write the rest of the story to keep the legacy of Akron’s own playing. Regretfully we didn’t get together with James Ingram for a Rubbertown reunion. But we are proud of his accomplishments, honored to have known him, always lovingly remembered as our beloved music family and sincerely heartfelt missed. #onceuponatime #YahMoBeThere

I am a brother from the middle sixties and I was from the Richard Allen projects in North Philadelphia where Bill Cosby comes from and we were young men who had a lot of talent and we would go to the Uptown Theater where all the great groups would come to perform. All the performers from Motown and the groups would give performances for approximately seven days three times a day but one of the guys in our group had a photostatic memory so we would mix up the steps and redesign the steps to fit into our performance and there was a group called the Internationals a black guy a white guy a Puerto Rican guy and a Chinese guy and they taught us how to harmonize they taught us space harmony major key and minor key harmonizing and were planning to sharpen our talents by keeping our practicing private for two or three years before we would come out to do any shows and we were so good so there were some girls who were interested in learning how to perform so we roughs them in and taught them but they were beautiful girls and their boyfriends were drug dealers and they got pregnant so they taught their sons what we taught them and their sons turned out to be boys to men and this is the truth and the band was called Fat Larry's Band just a very good experience

KB was exactly right about the gospel guys vs the rest of the genres. Most gospel guys come up playing by ear. Other guys from other genres are more likely to take official lessons as youngsters which sometimes lessens their ear. Which is why they're not as good improvisation wise
