This has to lead upto the battle at morder. The elves vs Morder where Sauron comes forth with the one ring, and kills Isildors father. Where isildor claims the one ring.

Oh, that will have to wait, there is still the Fall of Numenor to attend to, Isildur has to get back to Numenor to accompany his father Elendil escaping the Fall, Sauron still has to poison Al-Pharazon's mind (I have a feeling the palantir will probably replace Sauron on the show or, better said, Sauron will influence him through the palantir) and then they will have to assemble both Elven and Numenorian armies, which will take some logistical prep! IF Season 3 happens, we might start to see all that starting to come together, but I have my reservations whether Amazon will fulfill their promise of getting four seasons no matter the ratings, given how poor the ratings have been! We will see after this season finale!
