Shivaji Rao Gaekwad (born 12 December 1950), known by his mononymous stage name Rajinikanth, is an Indian film actor, who works primarily in Tamil cinema. He began acting in plays while working in the Bangalore Transport Service as a bus conductor. In 1973, he joined the Madras Film Institute to pursue a diploma in acting. Following his debut in K. Balachander's Tamil drama Apoorva Raagangal (1975), his acting career commenced with a brief phase of portraying antagonistic characters in Tamil films.
After earning 26 crore (equivalent to ₹55 crore or US$8.6 million in 2016) for his role in Sivaji (2007), he was the highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan at the time. While working in other regional film industries of India, Rajinikanth has also appeared in the cinemas of other nations, including the American film Bloodstone (1988). As of 2014, Rajinikanth has won six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, four Best Actor Awards and two Special Awards for Best Actor - and a Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award. In addition to acting, he has also worked as a producer and screenwriter. Apart from his film career, he is also a philanthropist, spiritualist, and serves as an influence in Dravidian politics.
The Government of India has honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016 for his contributions to the arts. At the 45th International Film Festival of India (2014), he was conferred with the "Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year".

Teja , Let me try my best to narrate the important incidents mentioned in the interview.. Srinivasan And Rajnikanth first met when they both were students in a film institute (name is not mentioned). Rajni was senior to srinivasan there. Their first conversation was regarding the screen test part acted by srinivasan, where rajni came forward and appreciated the junior student srinivasan. From there onwards they developed a good friendship. Rajnikanth used to get so many(10-15) small amount money orders (1-2 rupee) every month from his friends, while he was studying in the institute. Then he talks about Rajnikanths love story from a time before rajni became a film actor. This story was originally told by rajni him self to malayalam actor Devan. The story...... When rajni was a bus conductor, a girl tried to enter through the back door of the bus, rajni told the girl to enter through the front door and girl was questioning that and eventually they ended up in a small fight. Later this girl and rajni became closer day by day (like in a movie!). Once rajni invited her to watch a drama where rajni acted. The girl on seeing Rajnikanths acting, was so impressed and amazed by his talent. After sometime she heard about the this particular film institute and asked rajni to join that institute to maximize his potential. But rajni was initially reluctant as his only means of earning was his job and had to take care of his family. He simply didn't had enough money to go to an institute. This girl motivated him to go to the institute despite his problems, and financially helped him. She used to send him money orders frequently. But suddenly her money orders (may be letters too) stopped coming and rajni couldn't contact her even after trying so many times. Rajni believed her family might have moved her to somewhere far away, even to another state, when they came to know about their love affair and to avoid her marrying this poor bus conductor!!!. Srinivasan says even till today rajni might not be able to find her or may be she intentionally decided not to find rajni when he became a star to avoid any problems in her family or his. Srinivasan praises rajni for his personality. He says rajni never forgot any of his friends from that time and helped each and everyone of them when he became a super star and rich. Many of his friends from earlier time who couldn't make it big on the film industry is now working as managers and staff in many of his own firms. In the very last part of the interview srinivasan says Rajnikanth might not like politics as he is a very honest and innocent man and don't know how play cheap tricks like many politicians today.

DR sabari DR sabari Alright, I'll give you a brief summary since you've asked so nicely. In this video famous Malayalam actor/scriptwriter Sreenivasan shares with us his experiences and memories of going to Madras film institute where he met Rajnikanth, who was one year senior to him. He says that Rajnikanth used to take the postman behind the building where nobody could see them, since he received numerous money orders of one or two rupees. Sreenivasan says that several years after they both left the institute, Rajini, who was already a famous star saw Sreenivasan walking by through a window of the make-up room in AVM studio, and rushed outside to talk to Sreenivasan. He also dragged him inside and introduced him to the director and producer. According to Sreenivasan, Rajnikanth never forgot anyone from his past life, before he became a superstar. Many of the people who went to the film institute are working as managers in his theatres, auditoriums and other businesses. The most important and shocking part of this interview is when Sreenivasan reveals the love story Rajnikanth told Devan(not sure who). Rajnikanth once had an argument with a girl when he was a conductor in Bangalore. But, eventually they fell in love. She went to see a play Rajini was acting in after he asked her to. Watching his acting convinced her that he has a future as an actor. She started persuading him to abandon the conductor job and move to Chennai to attend the Madras film institute. Although Rajini initially refused to quit the job because of abject poverty, she eventually convinced him to, and also financially assisted him for a period of time after he moved to Chennai. But oneday, money orders and letters from her stopped abruptly. Even though he searched for her for many years, Rajini has never seen or heard from her again. According to Sreenivasan, Rajini believes that her parents forcefully took her away to some far away place to make sure she did not marry a poor man like him. Even today, he yearns to meet her just once before his death. Sreenivasan concludes that Rajnikanth is a great human being. And adds that he will not enter politics because he is too innocent to survive in the dirty and treacherous world of politics.
