Reminds me of when I was a kid and trying to do something my grandma past had set out for us. I couldn't get the hang of it, but liked watching others make these. My only, wee advice... try using a thimble on the end of a finger to use for pushing the pins in. :)

My cat got one of these off the tree and proceeded to boobytrap our living room with about 100 pins. Is there anyway to lock the whole thing in place to ensure this wouldn’t happen again?

Oh no, that sounds like quite the adventure with your cat! 😅 To prevent it from happening again, you could try hot gluing the ribbon to securely hold the ornament in place. 🧵🎄
