As a West Ham fan, the fact you guys got the owners of your club to sit down for 45 minutes to do a podcast with fans fills me with both awe & jealousy..! Wrexham have been blessed & are certainly my second team from here on in. Delighted for you, long may it continue..! 🍻

Another lifelong West Ham fan, here in Canada. Given our team's drop after two years of European qualifying finishes in the EPL I've been living precariously through Wrexham these past two years. It is the kind of story that we needed these past couple years. With their promotion to EFL2 I hope for more success for them. I think promotion is a lofty goal, but I think the best sign of success for them as a club will be more tournament qualifying by next season's end.

I guess it was about 6 weeks ago when something called "Wrexham" containing a photo of Rob & Ryan popped up unexpectedly in my KZbin feed. At that time I knew nothing about your area in northern Wales, the guys ownership interest in the club or its storied history, the "Welcome To Wrexham" series or, for that matter, much about soccer/football in general. However, that initial exposure piqued my interest to the point I've become a loyal follower of all things Wrexham AFC with hours spent watching KZbin videos. I happen to be a retired 74-year old man living in a rural area of Crawford, Texas just outside Waco. My heritage is English and Welsh from ancestors who came to America many generations ago. As my last name is Snowden, I suppose you can't be too much more Welsh than that (although I recognize the traditional spelling over there is Snowdon). Anyway, gentlemen, I enjoyed this podcast immensely and became a new subscriber. I look forward to many more as you discuss the growing fortunes of Wrexham AFC in the English League and its positive effect on your wonderful supportive community. Good luck to all!

Huge wrexham fan here in Florida. Let me please say this, the number one reason I fell in love with the team wasn't bc of the team. It was it's people . The love and passion and fight the fans have to protect their beloved team spoke so many volumes to me . There is just nothing really like that here in the states. I can't recall a single team saved by it's fans. Thank you to the people of wrexham for keeping that history alive long enough for rob and Ryan to help towards the future. Much love from Florida.

I don't think that's unreasonable. But, I would be shocked if he just sold his share to the highest offer-- if it ever happens, I genuinely think he'd only sell once he was sure he had found someone that would care for the team and the town as much as he once had.
@Red_Snappa Жыл бұрын
He sold those two _purely_ because he wanted to have more time to commit to his main interest...WAFC 😋 Seriously tho... it's obvious these two have become really, really close friends, and to just walk away and hand over to his share to someone else, would go against the grain - without damned good reason - for someone like Ryan. Two of the most honest, sincere men... We are SO lucky to have them!
@bereasonable8018 Жыл бұрын
I think Ryan will continue with Wrexham for quite a while, perhaps to varying degrees of active involvement. He’s clearly devoted to his family first and foremost. Wrexham is one investment that his whole family has gotten involved with. Blake does not drink alcohol, and he owned only 20% of Mint. He won’t commit to living anywhere without his family fully on board.
@jarent2652 Жыл бұрын
He has sold them but continued to help promote them.
@franciscofranco42 Жыл бұрын
The value is in Rob & Ryan being part of the product to promote it. Nobody is watching Wrexham football without R&R’s involvement. I could see them selling a 50% share in the club to some billionaire wanting to be part of the magic, but any deal without them on board is worthless.

Going to Las Vegas is a sort of superficial choice but it is part of the whole thing there, so it will be interesting what fans will accept to move forward. Some might say Las Vegas is a degenerate place. TikTok already, will be viewed as a very questionable sponsorship deal - but other than that, it is nice for Wrexham fans to be going up - the mantra of "we want to go to the PL" I wonder in the end how much pressure and expectation that produces and when and IF Wrexham are in League One or the Championship and are no longer a 'big club' but a small club, one of many, say maybe 3-0 down at half time on a December Tuesday night to a Bolton or a Sunderland. How many tourist fans will be interested in that scenario ? There are many clubs who have tried to go up the leagues, many have proved it is not always about money also. Luton Town are now the verge of the PL, or the top Division, for the first time in THIRTY YEARS -they were a National League side only ten years ago. They have done that with no real big investment and even this season, lost their manager to Southampton ( who got relegated ! ) and had to have Rob Edwards be manager as backroom coaching staff member. Leyton Orient just went up with no money after nearly going bust, Plymouth, sort of similar, no massive investment. Good to take some reality checks at some time. Though, good luck next season ! Also, look at clubs like Dulwich Hamlet and others, who do things in a different way, who want to be ethical and do creative and innovative things, Vegas is not that. Gambling addiction is a serious issue, one would have thought that is the last association that Wrexham needs ? Clubs have their own identity, some choose to take money from McDonalds, others would refuse that wholeheartedly - some get involved in mental health charities. Not long ago, Norwich had a botched miscalculation by the commercial manager, in getting a betting company as sponsors, fans protested and complained, they had to cancel the sponsorship. The commercial manager resigned.
@fearlessindevotion Жыл бұрын
There has been no mention or evidence of gambling by the squad. They took the opportunity for an all expenses paid trip - whatever and wherever it was they would have carried the club's name and reputation and ensured it did not become tarnished. You only have to look at who sponsors the league we're now in to get an idea of gambling culture in the UK. I'm not entirely sure of the many points you were trying to make but thanks for taking the time to comment anyway. Wrexham have had it harder than many in the past, so please don't begrudge us the time in the sun.
@callum1709 Жыл бұрын
What an absolute helmet you are
@brianeleighton Жыл бұрын
First, Wrexham went to Vegas because that is where the players said they wanted to go at the start of the season. The team wanted an all expense paid trip to Vegas, which the club was good enough to promise them if they won the league. Second the rest of what you said about gambling addiction, while serious, is being somewhat disingenuous. You clearly have a bit of an issue with a club getting outside investment to help their success. Seeing as you used a bunch of examples of clubs having success without that. Here is the problem with them. None of them are comparable to Wrexham. Those clubs didn't have owners who were actively trying to destroy the club to tear down the ground in order to develop the land. Wrexham did. How about instead of being jealous of their good fortune we revel in that they actually have good owners from America? I know Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea supporters wish their American owners would learn a thing or two from them.
@reeleyes466 Жыл бұрын
@@brianeleighton Hi Brian, thanks for the intelligent and reasoned reply ! A rarity ! I do not have an issue with Wrexham doing what they need to do - BUT I do think that things like sponsorship, the rampant corporatising over the lasts 15 / 20 years, have seen owners, sponsors, totally disconnected from the club. Of course in reality, it is a global world, so nothing wrong in that. Ideally, I think many clubs like to see a local sponsor where possible, if not for the shirt, for a stand, if not for a stand, then for a matchball or programme and so on. All the local characters in local business and so on is all part of a clubs makeup I think. Tiktok and North Wales are like Pluto and Jupiter to eachother I think. I am not at all being disingenuous about the gambling and alcohol addiction issues and I think it is a deadly serious issue that many clubs try ( with what little resources they have ) to engage with issues such as this. I was at a Southern League club the other day, who average maybe 500 in a game and they have some kind of co-operation with a local mental health charity, for example. It's also, ok to to go and see Las Vegas - if you are curious, like Americans see Big Ben - but it could have been say, Death Valley, Yosemite National Park and so on, a trip to native lands, ( for example ). Not saying that SHOULD be done but there are other things going on.
@reeleyes466 Жыл бұрын
@@brianeleighton Plenty of clubs have had incompetent, careless or even criminal owners. I can talk about Robert Chase at Norwich. On the one hand, a local and someone who did tons for the club and was massive forwarding thinking, bought up tons of land around the ground and also farmland which is now the training ground. He was utterly shrewd in laying the foundations for a top club in terms of infrastructure, facilities. However, he was very much a 'smooth operator', or basically, lied once too many times ! Sold players from the European era, weeks after he said he would not, the most famous of that being Chris Sutton, with whom he held a press conference saying: "he is not for sale" and a week later he as at Blackburn ! -Ok, he did sell players that helped break apart a great team and the club never really have hit those heights of the late 80s 90s. There was big trouble at Carrow Road after games that has never been seen before or since, as the fans felt cheated by his lies. He died a few weeks ago and is remembered as someone who did a lot to to modernise the club and move it forward ( at the expense of success on the field though ). Now that is hardly as bad as some of course but just saying ! Clubs go through hard times.
