Does Ford Transit wet timing belt disintegration and self destroying engine come as standard ?
@graantmnz6 ай бұрын
we have had two ford engines with this wet belt system , never a problem and I have not even heard of one failing here in NZ ...so maybe the odd failure is overblown and no different to dry cam belts breaking - and I have had one of those failures , luckily in a non interference engine.
@MotorhomeCampervan6 ай бұрын
Whilst this is an issue with some commercial vehicles, it doesn't yet seem to be affecting motorhomes. If you change the oil annually with good quality oil and change the belt way ahead of schedule (120k, I think), it appears you should be OK (some cars require new belt every three/four years irrespective of mileage)
@dwdrum114 ай бұрын
@@MotorhomeCampervanwe have 4 transits at work that have all failed at less than 90k miles all 1 year out of warranty and Ford weren’t interested, appealing aftercare, it’s down to overfuelling during dpf regeneration, fuel gets into the oil and degrades the belt. Ford have done an engine software update to help this, as you mentioned regular oil changes are the key. Shame as otherwise they’re a nice van to drive. We’ve replaced them all with 3 year old crafters and they’re in another league.

Evening Peter. Yet another great review of a fantastic Motorhome. Just when you think you've settled on a campervan/ motorhome along comes another one which changes your mind!! I'm probably a few years off getting one but all these great reviews narrows the list to what you actually need in a camper of your choice. always exciting videos to watch, great work once again.

Hi Peter and a great van. However we have ordered a new Bailey B64 on the Ford Transit. However there is a lot of complaints across all sectors of users of Fords at the moment due to using a wet belt system and the failure of the belts in very new vans. Further Fords response to this crisis. I am thinking of cancelling my order due to this issue. Are you aware of it? Thanks David

Hi Peter, I am writing from France. We love travelling in UK and for the time being we did it with our car, a Renault grand Espace. We plan to buy a motor home, but we are wondering about the width. Each time we've been to UK we had the feeling that the roads are narrow. So, do you think that a 2.37meters wide motorhome is manageable, in roads of Cornwall, Cotswolds, Scotland ? Thanks for your advice with this matter.
@MotorhomeCampervan3 ай бұрын
You could do it but there are some places that you'll struggle, especially Cornwall. However, I did see a 9m Swift Kon-Tiki on the NC500 in Scotland when I did that last year. A van conversion would be easier...

Almost a carbon copy of the bailey adamo 69-4. Although it is slightly longer at 7m.
@MotorhomeCampervan6 ай бұрын
There are a number of models with this layout, not just the Adamo. It's the Voyager 540 that's a rival to the Adamo 69-4, as both are 7m. The whole point of the 510 is that it's considerably shorter.
@williamhurley84076 ай бұрын
Mmmm 6.19m just over the 6m length which will mean more expensive ferry charges. There are other manufacturers that have produced similar vans at 5.99m

Surely the action to take after customer feedback, would be to introduce a quality control system?
@andrewstevenson65406 ай бұрын
That's a 2-berth. Why bother with rear travel seats and the drop down (heavy) bed? Could probably save 100+ KG and £5,000 off the price.
@MotorhomeCampervan6 ай бұрын
The only saving would be the travel seats, you'd still want the drop-down bed. There are loads of models with similar bed/travel arrangements and they are big sellers. Make it a two-berth and you lose the "grandparent market" and reduce sales
@daletinsley29546 ай бұрын
This is an ideal layout for me and my better half. Not wasting space on a double bed when there's the drop down bed. I like the benimar range also that's a similar layout. @@karlospappy8908 I'm comparing like for like here . A brand new branded conversion van with the same facilities as this will be far more expensive and 100k is certainly in the ball park for the bigger brands because they take the mickey out of gullible buyers . I full time in a very large vintage motohome and I cant count the number of miserable couples I meet who regret buying a brand new conversion van with their pension money only to realise they cant move inside and have to compromise on everything. They are designed for young people not people in their sixties !! who are the only ones who can actaully afford their insane price tag . met an older couple yesterday who'd spent 120K on a brand new VW California and hated it !! and the GRP rHi top roof leaked like an old whaler and they couldnt move inside
