Reminder that there were a few shops selling hammers for Cid, to get him off bows. As for speeding up XP gain, it's doubled after finding 10 Key Items. Dark Knight Cecil has exactly 3 different swords, and he started with his best one. Dark Elf was indeed scripted; that's what happens if you try to fight him without the Twin Harp.

@Xarestrill6 ай бұрын
A few bits from my playthrough and how to get to that chest at the end.. 1. You're wildly off in the exp bonus you mentioned. For most of the game the exp gain is normal. Once you have a full party any member who's level is 5 or more below the median of the party gets x2 exp until they catch up. Once you have 10 key items the exp you get is x2. 2. Don't be afraid to grind, this isn't a speedrun. Go somewhere you can handle the enemies and fight them for a few levels, if necessary move to a higher level area and do some more. Better to spend a bit of time making progress than a lot of time failing against bosses. You're level 11-20 with almost no gear, of course the bosses are kicking your butt. 3. As a randomizer, do your checks. Go to areas where you'd get new party members, key items, and loot. More party members gives you more choices (and yes you can change party members in Mysida, specifically the crystal room and prayer room beyond it). Key items unlock new options, and loot will get you the gear you need to make your characters useful (and you may find some key items in chests). 4. Seek out the shops. You don't have much money now, but knowing where to find thing when you have money or need to buy something will save you time later. Also you're only going to need a couple of sets of gear (at most) for each character, so don't be afraid to sell the lower tier stuff to get some cash. Also go ahead and sell the cursed ring, they're mainly used to manipulate your party's speed. You keep going into an area, grabbing the stuff, dying to the boss and not coming back, so you're leaving all that gear behind when you could be holding on to the best bits for when you get more party members and selling the rest to buy what you need. Don't forget you've got the big airship, it has free beds and a fat chocoboo in it. You can't beat the magnetic cave boss until you find the twin harp key item (speaking of which, go to Toria castle and see Edward for a key item check). You could go to the moon, but the enemies there will kick your rear. Holding Y while in the airship will move slower so you can grab the hovercraft (or land) easier. Also yes Dark Knight has 2 sets of gear, but the chests usually give higher tier loot, so you'll only find them randomly in stores. To get to the left tower chest in Eblan there's a secret passage one space above the door (go through the right wall).

I think the idea is that if he was going to grind, he'd rather try to do it in later dungeons that give better experience. Whereas he'd rather just skip the battles in a lot of the earlier dungeons, because the experience points just aren't all that worthwhile when there exists other options.

By default in the rando, EXP gains are not split like in the vanilla game. Every living party member gets the full EXP, so a party of 5 will level up about 5 times faster than normal. If you get stuck, grinding for some levels shouldn't take too long. Also yeah forgetting the Whisperweed (TwinHarp) means the Dark Elf just decks you~ Left tower treasure in Eblan castle can be gotten through a passage right next to the door. There's three trap treasures in there, so you missed one more somewhere as well. A vase, perhaps.

With Free Enterprise the need to grind really doesn't need to happen till you are ready for Z. If you only fight bosses in most low tier areas your levels should be more than enough. Almost every boss is exploited in some way in this mode. Otherwise the races would take too long. Cash he would just sell the gear that he wont be utilizing like extras. Find all the items that affect bosses like casting slow and stop on most work. When he needs levels you buy sirems/alarms and go into the underworld and fight eggs in the upper left corner area.
@R0D3R1CKV10L3NC36 ай бұрын
@@YuroStyle yeah, but Jared - self admittedly - doesn't know FFIV very well compared to some of the other FF games, so likely also wouldn't be immediately aware of such exploits for the different bosses. Add onto that, the fact that he prefers to play these types of games with as little outside help as possible, so he would be unlikely to go looking for - or accept - tips on said exploits, outside of his own previously learned experiences of playing the game. For someone who tackles games the way that he does - and always has - I think that simply grinding up some levels, while continuing to check out other locations that he may not have checked out yet, would be a reasonable course of action to take, so as to hopefully be better prepared to tackle some of these fights when he comes back to them in the future.

Hey, Projared. It seems that you might need some help. I got some tips right here for you: Enemies like the ones you encounter at Eblan Castle, you might want to make use of the Hourglass and some of the items. The Hourglass lasts for a while and works on early enemies. Also, if power for each boss is randomized, two things: 1.) Areas that normally have really powerful enemies like the moon may have bosses that might possibly be a joke. 2.) Have you tried using a Phoenix Down on the Lunar Dragon bosses, since their power seems to be weak for late game bosses? And finally, I would recommend going to the cave of Eblan, Edge normally appears before the entrance of the Giant of Babil. This game is definitely going to have you do Trial and Error. Many deaths and few succession from the start. Make use of that save feature when being nearby bosses, so you can keep the loot and leave.

Suffers from being the plot device job rather than a full fledged job, wonder if that's why in 14 dark knight seems all over the place like the devs are unsure of how the job should look or what abilities it should have since there's so little to go off of unlike other jobs. Kinda neat seeing the game from this perspective.

Hiya! Back at it again, round 3! I have more advice for you, Jared. This time it might be more "mechanical understanding" than "suggestions", so take it for what you will. As always, I'll spoiler them below. Hope they help out, especially now that you are asking for them: OBSERVATIONS: 1. In Eblan, that chest in West Tower you couldn't reach? You need to be RIGHT next to the door leading outside, then head RIGHTWARD. There's a hidden path there. Eblan is filled with ninjas. Hidden paths everywhere. Ninja's suck. (But I do like Edge, though.). [EDIT-1] I guess I posted this prematurely. You left Eblan before you cleaned it out! You can enter the main throne room to find some more treasure chests. Look around for some secret walls around the room. There's 6 chests within the throne room's "area". Eblan's a treasure trove. It'd be the first place I went for loot if I played this. Anyway, back to the pre-edit comment. 2. I don't know much about this randomizer, but I'll parrot what people have said so it aids in getting seen. With Dark Elf, you apparently need the [Twin Harp] key item to prevent Not-Astos from clapping your cheeks. Yay! More checks! 3. I do strongly recommend you do some leveling up, On or Off screen. Your characters desperately need some levels. Generally the levels are the make-or-break of a character, because your equipment isn't a problem... you always have decent gear going into a situation... you don't have solid gear going into your problems, so you NEED those levels... and the money could help you get gear... which leads me into.... 4. You should really consider buying some better gear for folks. I've said it each time now, but maybe take stock of what shops sell what, and get some upgrades for characters. Cid can get a Wooden Hammer in Village of Mist, and I believe a Silver Hammer at Mythril (the town of mini-folk, pigs, frogs; where you hovered over and needed the Tail). If you can't get him a Silver Hammer, get him a Wooden one, beats him missing over and over with a bow. 5. This isn't anything majorly important, just a quicknotes for who is where: * Fusoya at Kaipo - needs Sandruby. * Kain at Mount Hobs - defeat [Mom Bomb] aka Golbez. * Rosa at Baron Inn - defeat [Yang] aka Cagnazzo. ----- Keep going, Jerd! I have faith, man. You just need that one foothold. My thought process would be to work towards getting Cecil usable. Turn him from a Decil to a Pecil, and you'll clean house.

Ok first Thing I saw for the D. Lunar fight if you do no direct damage you do not start the Virus script things like Yang's Power and Rosa's Aim work well for this or using Wall on a party member and bouncing the spells off them. By doing this you stop reactionary scripts from going like said Virus script or even up to the final Zeromus fight's health refill. Next up for the Golbez fight if you go into that fight with a status condition like Pig or Mini the hold gas doesn't work because of how this game figures out how status conditions work. After that if one person uses a Starveil/Wall spell Golbez kills himself basically. As far as CPU is concerned for the higher level areas it is best to leave the attack orb and focus on CPU so it doesn't heal or use Globe199 which is one of the highest power abilities in the game an enemy can use. For the Magnetic Cave without the Twin Harp item it will just kill you outright. For that specific chest the way to it is in the hallway by the door of the tower. Yes you can multicast Cure1 its the left and right arrows when selecting a person. And my advice to you on where to next is Fabul or Baron Inn as that is a couple easier checks. Zot is unavailable as that requires the Earth Crystal to complete. With the items you have you can do all of the underground checks bar the final Tower check (not recommended veterans of FF4FE dislike hook route but it is doable). There is no checks available in the moon as that is turned off. You also have the Giant available but once again I advise caution that is one of the last dungeons of the game. And lastly the three Overworld checks you can do are Fabul, Baron Inn and Mt Ordeals. The selection isn't great but at this point its what you got. Finally if you wish to grind a few levels with your power level and what you have available to you I would say Lamias on Mt Ordeals is your best bet.

I'm a little surprised you haven't gotten a single Cid weapon in all those chests so far. This game has so many wrenches and axes, and you rolled two copies of Cid but no gear.

Do we just dislike playing most of the game now? This is more of a highlight reel than a real play through. Embrace the grind, Jerd! Or at least turn the random battles back on, and fight what you run into normally.
