I know that after the camps were liberated, a lot of the guards including the females, were forced to pick up the dead bodies with their bare hands and load them up and take them and Bury them where the guards also had to dig their graves. One of the chief complaints of the guards at that point was worrying about contracting typhoid. Even then their main concern was their own well being. Both russian and american guards stood by armed and made them carry out the task. Irma's last word was , "quickly".

I was blessed to be the nurse of an older German gentleman. I adored him. He was raised in Germany during the 30/40s. His stories broke my heart. He told me how starting in primary class, children watched daily videos talking about the evil of Jewish people and how anyone consorting with them deserved to be punished. He remembers his father being taken to jail for not supporting Hilter,leaving his mother to care for him and his 8 siblings. His younger brother was taken away and murdered because he was mentally challenged and that went against Hitlers view of a perfect white country. 💔Familes were so poor because the men were either in jail,dead or in the German army. Neighbors turned on neighbors,often lying just to get money promised by the government for tips. My patient said the smell of burning flesh and hair will never leave his memory 😢 Blessedly he left Germany at the age of 17 and moved to Australia. He had a life of travel and contributed much to humanity..never forgetting the horrors of his homeland.

Sad. I have visited the Los Angeles Holocaust Museum to hear the stories from survivors. Sadly so many histories have been lost. As well, I have met Germans who lived during the bombings in Germany, and heard their stories as children during the War. One lady's father was a Mayor of one of the Berlin Cities. I am too young for WW2, though I have no prior ideas about Germans I got fed up with German customers in my business who quickly became enraged about some small thing, bullied my staff, tried to get special treatment for various reasons, such as, my wife is a senior nurse at the hospital. After what happened to the Jews in the Holocaust, when they said “Never Again” they meant it! If they are exterminated for the great sin of being Jews, they will go down fighting, because they have the IDF now. They fought in WW2, but they didn’t have the formidable IDF! They do now, and they will take the evil with them if they perish. But they won’t! They will win, and like the Americans after WW2, they will be magnanimous, and rebuild Gaza and offer peace once again. As Golda Maer said: “If the Palestinians lay down their guns, there will be peace; if the Israelis lay down their guns, there will be a massacre.”
