Also religion and tax exempt status somehow makes suing churches themselves difficult because they move money around. Oh, and banks and hedge funds pay fines that are pennies compared to the money they make from their crimes. The system is broken, but yeehaw back the blue or whatever. Also cops have basically immunity from personal lawsuits for actions taken as police officers, called qualified immunity. RICO could probably end most of the crimes on Wall Street, throw hundreds of priests in prison for their heinous acts, and might improve the financial system overall. The law incentivizes snitching majorly, and is designed to destroy gangs and criminal organizations. But, powerful people tend to sway justice to their ends. Why prosecute powerful criminals when the local gang could be jailed. Weirdly enough, people with money and unfortunate ties to street gangs, like many rappers, are not exempt from prosecution. Like the group YSL, which Young Thug and Gunna are members, is supposably a gang. They have money for lawyers, and its possible they committed crimes, but even money won't help them much. Street gangs are bad, but their counterparts in the police, church, or bank often commit similar or worse crimes with no accountability. Its wack.

@key peele It is LA COUNTY. The City of LA is pretty liberal. The same cannot be said for the county as a whole. Simi Valley (known locally as Copland due to the high number of LAPD and LASD personnel that live there) is in LA County. That is why the Rodney King trial could get moved there. Valencia (where Six Flags Magic Mountain is located) also has a high percentage of Conservative voters. Malibu has a ton of them as well. This is also why the LAPD has done a better job at trying to deal with these gangs than the LASD. The LAPD had the Vikings as well as the various C.R.A.S.H. units, the most notorious being the one out of Rampart Division. However, those officers were fired and prosecuted. There has not been a single prosecution of a Deputy for gang involvement because our current Sherriff is allegedly a member of one of these gangs.

I grew up on 55th/Atlantic, not to far from Compton. Everyone seemed to be with one group or another even back then. I have had Skinheads try and get me on Signal hill back in the late 80,s. Was crazy times back then in LBC. Went to Highschool at Banning, Carson Ca. Welcome to the jungle folks. I moved at 18 to the deep South and lived happy ever after. I'm 50 now and go back to visit every 5 years and every time I do it saddens me to see the living conditions. Just too many people and the cops can't control the crime. Even when I was a kid the LAPD would just bang you up on the spot! It's street justice and is what happens when our system is failed. Remember ole Rodney King!?! Guys like him was bullies in the neighborhood, I been robbed plenty times, Stabbed twice and even got away a few times. The cops get tired of fighting the crime, making arrests, dealing with mental ill so they told Rodney to not worry about going to jail, we are going to beat you black and blue the next time we get a call on you committing crime on our beat. And that's what we saw then and we still see it today! The whistle blower cop is golden to me and wish we had them all like him. Two wrongs never make a right. We should be pushing for fixing the root of the problem not dishing out street justice.Growing up in L.A. was a trip for sure. I seen what has happened to the cops and see why they are a$$holes too, it is a WARZONE they work in. I wish I never seen some things I saw in L.A. just imagine what they've seen, I've heard stories. Corruption and lack of transparency is the root problem, the very top priority in a "troubleshooting" situation. Begin a training for 80k new officers to replace the existing force and Put them on the boarder to fight Cartels and human trafficking. Or retire them with s pension and send them home. Cops should be able to retire and do something else after 20 years of service. This shit ain't rocket science!

There's a documentary about California's law enforcement, can't remember the name but I have never found it again!
