Worked in restaurant before. There is so much animosity in most, favouritism and power struggle. As a waitress I was the football between the kitchen staff and the customers.

as someone who has been a line cook for over 10 years in the states this is very true unfortunately. i dont get close to anybody and just try to pay my bills now a days in this industry.

My son was an executive chef in Nantucket for yrs. I can tell you that the pressure is unrelenting, the work is unending, (think 90-100 hrs a wk), and any mistake, big or small lands on the EC's shoulders. The time in prison had nothing to do with it. It was over 13 yrs ago. He paid his dues for his mistake, how long is he supposed to pay for that? I'll wait to see but I would bet he was overworked, understaffed, disrespected (I hear the manager was sleeping with the EC's wife), and underappreciated. Not an excuse, just the reality of the restaurant industry.

Running a business here, frequenting the high-falutin North-Hills, this is indication of a bigger growing city getting big city problems. As a native to Raleigh the rumors I heard were the employee was dating a woman who used to date the executive chef and he was jealous. Just days later a police officer was in a shootout and over 100 officers responded. In a weeks period 3 murders occurred in Fayetteville NC just 60-70 miles away. Our state is undergoing more heinous crime unfortunately.

They had a beef I’ve worked in the back of a kitchen when I was 20 years old , chef and owners stay going at it , i remember once , the chef and owner got in disagreement and that Sunday chef cleaned out the restaurant out its meat and left a resignation email lol

Working in a restaurant is by far the most stressful job I've ever had, and I was in charge of childrens' lives (literally in my hands as a Gymnastics coach), worked in a run down pizza shop, got bitched at by nasty customers and worked in a dirty store, and picked 5,000 plants every single day. The entire industry has been ruined.

Detective Dan, THANK YOU for including the quote from Gavin de Becker’s excellent book, “The Gift of Fear”. This book changed my outlook on life and has probably saved me from harm countless times over the years. Intuition and situational awareness is key to staying safe for everyone, but especially the vulnerable in society. Everyone should read it. 👍🏻

Hiring felons is always a huge risk to everyone working in the building, I know, I was forced to work with them while working for the Rail Road. When you hire anyone you need to always do a background check looking for anything and everything. You owe it to all the other employees, it's your duty to keep them safe. This restaurant took the chance and it backfired in a big way.
