Actually getting leaner means higher testosterone production, testosterone is produced because the body wants a certain amount of estrogen, because fat cells produce estrogen, when you're fat the body does not neet to produce a lot of testosterone to convert into estrogen because your adipose tissue produces enough by itself. When you diet down and lose fat, the body starts to produce more testosterone so that it can be aromatized into estrogen.

Very well explained. Dr Jason Fung has also explained it similarly using a 'basement freezer' v/s a 'kitchen refrigerator' analogy. It would have been nice if the video provided info on how much glucose liver and muscles can store for a typical male/female (before being stored as fat cells) and how long the glucose stays in the blood stream before it is shuttled to the 'parking lots'.

So when the liver and the muscle parking lot is empty, does that mean the adipose tissues come in to provide more energy, thus losing weight.?
@GLUCOSEZONE8 жыл бұрын
Yes!
@psylee86878 жыл бұрын
I remember reading Jason fung's blog saying that during a fast, your body has about 24 hours of glycogen and glucose. So for a 24 hour fast, speed up burning the rest of your glycogen/glucose reserves by doing some jump roping or other high intensive exercise. Exercise increases insulin sensitivity, fasting increases insulin sensitivity. Glucose/glycogen gone, adipose tissues come in to fill the void in the last hours of your fast.

I am 52 yrs young, 5'6 1/2 wt 145. the only carbs I have is only 15-20% per day which is only veggies. I exercise every other day for 30 minutes and I take supplements and vitamins. Since I've been eating this way for 3 months now...my blood sugar was awesome. Within a month of eating like this my a1c went from 7.4% to 7.0%....yaaaaaay.....but wait....I am and have been eating the same diet and in the last 2 weeks my blood sugar have gone up into the 200's. Exercise...Does it open the parking lot even when insulin is around?
@GLUCOSEZONE7 жыл бұрын
Great question! It does! The only thing is that insulin prevents the use of fat as energy, so if insulin were present then the use of fat wouldn't be available but the glucose would be the energy source-mainly from the liver.

@johndoh10005 жыл бұрын
I’m still not clear on how this affects insulin resistance. This is just a guess, but insulin resistance just means your cells are less efficient in receiving insulin. They still can receive it, but they don’t take in as much. So if you work out, increase your muscle mass [muscle cell count] then you’ll also produce more cells that in turn can utilize the same amount of glucose provided. Thanks for providing the analogy this helped me work out my own view on how insulin should work.
@GLUCOSEZONE5 жыл бұрын
Insulin resistance means that the insulin that is in the system is not effective at opening up the cells to receive sugar from the blood. Think of it like a lock and key-the key doesnt open the door. If you workout, you change the shape of the lock (and there are more locks) to better fit the key (insulin) and open the door for the sugar to go!

Diabetes is a very difficult thing to deal with and we are here as you support and partner in this journey so welcome to the GlucoseZone! Do you live with type 1 or type 2 diabetes? Either way the chair based exercises would be the best for you to practice as a first step for a while and make sure you are testing your blood sugars as well but please ask your physician about the best exercises for you to do so that your treatments are not affected at all and you have proper guidance and clearance.

No trouble at all! Your answer is YES :) Anything that gets the blood sugars in a lower range will help with weight reduction because remember insulin (present when blood sugars are high) prevents fat loss. You're saying that the body cannot utilize fat for energy as long as there is insulin running in our blood, however I've heard that walking utilises fat stores without even needing to deplete the glycogen stores. So what am I to believe? Say for example I go for a walk after a hearty lunch when my insulin levels are pretty high, will I still burn fat?
@GLUCOSEZONE Жыл бұрын
No. Your body will use the energy from the food first. That is not necessarily a bad thing. It is better to burn the energy from the food than to store it as fat.
