Great story. Well done Ken. The combination of diet and strength training is a much better option than the downhill slope of medication.

It is an awesome one off product for reversing diabetes minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cooworker after a lifetime of fighting got cool success with it.

I'm on medication and my doctor says the only way out is to go full vegetarian and aerobic exercise. I've lost body fat by cutting out sugar, and walking every day has been a healthy choice, but I am not on board with giving up meat. I'm going to try Starting Strength.

Great story Ken. I am very close to you in age and like you I had no activity for decades prior to starting. And of course I don't know you, but you remind me of many of the men I know who spent our entire work lives ensuring our families had the best, but did nothing to look after ourselves. But now is our time! Our kids are raised and its up to them now! I think you are making a wise choice in training at a SS gym. I wish I had access to one, but at least I have the book and watch the videos. All the best. William
@JB---4 жыл бұрын
I haven't been able to get a reply from the only two Starting Strength coaches in my area, and there are no Starting Strength gyms in my state. I have a book, and I guess I'll have to teach myself, with a little help from a family member who is doing great with this method. This video was very encouraging.

A1C down from 6.8 to low of 5.3 age almost 70. Starting program three set of 5. Also include lap swimming finishing 1 length of pool underwater which I count as a set. Of course have eliminated ultraprocessed foods with emphasis on protein one gram per pound of lean bodyweight. In a nutshell a combination of strength training. Cardio and HIIT. Oldest guy under the barbell, lots of cardioqueens and walkers no geezers sprint. Thanks Mark Rippetoe! 🙏🏻🏋🏻🏊♀️

Two things to reflect on here. Junk food will kill you; that’s an absolute certainty. Sodas, candy, and fast food are nutritionally awful and probably as bad for your health as smoking. The main message though is take action and change will happen.

@Frank Burjan no man, u are mistaken.
@MsCwebb4 жыл бұрын
As you get older, you need to decrease your volume (number of sets) and keep increasing the intensity (weight) on your big, compound lifts, to keep making progress. If you start lifting when you’re over 40, you won’t make as much progress as you would have if you started earlier, but you can still make significant gains. The best way to avoid getting injured when you’re older (and younger) is to learn how to squat, bench press, deadlift, and overhead press with proper technique.
@MsCwebb4 жыл бұрын
