Glad Jarvis was on John's side because obviously we can't assume anything, but he read as autistic, based on what was shown (this coming from someone who's autistic). The fact that people associate those traits with being creepy really sucks, because if you look at the things he was actually saying, he was very nice and respectful. He just seems to have a hard time with tone and expressions, which is why he might give an unnatural vibe, compared to an allistic, or an autistic who masks more. It's good to unlearn biases that make you think that traits of neurodivergence or mental illness are signs of danger. And of course, always look for real red flags that someone actually could be a danger to you (manipulative/controlling behavior, inability to accept criticism, not listening to boundaries, not keeping important promises, shifting blame) One thing to know about interacting with autistic people is that we may say or do something that makes you uncomfortable, without knowing or intending to, because social ques are hard for us. But most autistic people will listen to you if you set a boundary and explain why something made you uncomfortable directly. We will work things out, we just need to be communicated with. The red flag comes when someone (autistic or not) refuses to listen to your needs and try to understand your feelings, and instead invalidates them or expects you to cater to theirs with little to nothing in return

John doesn't even need to be neurodivergent to speak like that. He could just be nervous. I've done almost the exact same thing in the past and if the person you're with is not part of this stupid chat, it's not even that much of a big deal
@metallboy258 ай бұрын
Well, women find nervous men unsettling, weird and creepy. While when they are nervous its called being shy and cute. You are simply not allowed to be nervous as a man.

Cut looks like they have uncomfortable chairs. Only a few people looked comfortable. Even in the area where everyone is gathered. The chairs that are provided look old and hard. The chairs on set look like they have no support for the butt and back.

Ive spent so much of my adult life surrounding myself with other autistic people, that sometimes it shocks me to remember how other people perceive our behaviour. I dont necessarily think its neurotypical/allistic peoples faults though (at least some of the time); i think its partially just the nature of being neurodivergent, and partially the media for so frequently depicting neurodivergent people that way.

@@jijitters when did i say anything about 30 being old? if anything the original person made it seem like 30 is old by saying that music was from their youth as if they arent young/mid adults.

chat speedrunning the experience of meeting someone who MIGHT be neurodivergent (or just awkward) and going from "ew he's probably a serial killer" to getting called out and immediately switching up, armchair diagnosing him, and babying him-calling him a "sweet soft boi who needs to be protected" is expected but still deeply unbearable to watch

A common comment about John is that he is on the spectrum and I am unsure how to feel about it. I understand where people come from saying that as I know many people and have some friends who are on the spectrum and they act similarly, but it could also simply be social anxiety. However, his very informative and knowledgeable delivery of things that lacked the "flare" (or personality some would say but it seems much more insulting to people on the spectrum to phrase it that way) that people commonly have when talking also CAN imply hes on the spectrum. The point? ITS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS DOESNT MATTER AND HE WAS A VERY KIND AND NICE GUY!!! Edit: i would only like to say it is none of our business because he himself did not bring it up. Nothing about any sort of autism is negative or has any downside to being brought up IF the person in question brings it up themselves. You never know how comfortable someone is with discussing it, especially with someone they dont know, ESPECIALLY online, that is the reason i posted the comment in the first place.
@princessofhell46392 жыл бұрын
Hi, as someone on the spectrum I just wanna say it could really be either way like I can definitely see why some people would think that. Also saying that we "lack flare" is one of the funniest way I've heard of phrasing it lmaooo 😭😭I think the word you were looking for is monotonous
@sethg21792 жыл бұрын
@@princessofhell4639 IT WAS SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU I'VE TALKED TO MY FRIENDS ABOUT IT MULTIPLE TIMES LOL Edit: One of my friends was insulted and told he must be a skeleton without a personality and his response to the guy speaking was he must be an explosive with all that flare😂

I totally get where you're coming from but I think for me the thing I'm focusing on is how chat responded to someone who shares a lot of my traits as a neurodivergent person. Even if he isn't (which isn't our business, you're totally right) I think these comments are coming from a place of being upset at seeing someone who shares our characteristics being insulted :)
@TinyGhosty2 жыл бұрын
I think only autistic people can have an opinion on this. Autistic people are working very hard to destigmatize autism and let people know it is literally an unchangeable neurotype and it is not a mental illness, which is a very common misconception. An autistic person thinking someone else is autistic is not the same as "diagnosing" a mental disorder for many reasons, it is sharing the love for autistic people and autistic traits. I am autistic and see nothing wrong with autistic people saying "AYE I spy some autistic traits." Having allistic (non-autistic people) telling us not to suspect others being autistic feels like there is some negative reinforcement of how autistic people are perceived and how it is not something to be proud of. Many autistic people are proud af being autistic and would not want to change regardless of the struggles we go through.
@JupiHornet12 жыл бұрын
The thing is that neurodivergent people (like myself) can generally tell very quickly when someone else is neurodivergent because we share a lot of the same traits and "quirks". It's not just people making things up out of thin air
