Actually, I'm going to UNsubscribe. Because I am better at researching than you & your entire team put together, by all appearances. You've sold out -- you don't care enough to make sure your audience hears the medical consensus, or what the latest studies indicate, vs your guests' sales pitch. I don't trust you anymore. You are now a cult channel, only out for money, and you don't care if you are leading your audience to their peril. Shame on you. You could at least interview a guest from the other side of the debate next time. Your format is NOT the dialectic. Either you decided to go wherever the algorithm leads, or your research term has you totally baffooned, telling you they are doing quality research. They are mistaking sales pitches for research. You are providing salespeople a platform to lie from. It has been so gross to watch happen.

I came home excited to talk to my husband about this episode and found myself sobbing by the end of our conversation. I’m 42 and have been expressing that I just haven’t felt right the past couple years. In 2023 I was on a mission to figure out what caused this massive shift in my sleep, mental health, energy etc. I saw a sleep doctor, saw my obgyn and primary care Dr multiple times just to be prescribed an antidepressants that made me feel worse. I have felt unheard, unseen, misunderstood, devalued and invalidated. I was made to feel like I was losing my mind! I was told I just need therapy. Many days I lost the desire to exist. If this is what the next 40 years is going to feel like, I want no part of it! But this episode has restored my faith in women’s healthcare and I’ve never felt so validated and empowered! I am so grateful for this podcast!

Older generations of women were on antidepressants for years. When they were abruptly taken off them in old age, within a short time their brain went into mental decline such as senility....I discovered this while visiting an elder at a Care Home, the head nurse informed me this was quite common. The brain had gotten so used to the chemistry of a Diazapam type drug (she called it "the Pams") it could not do without it. Are Dr's having sleepless nights worrying about the well being of older post menopausal women? Highly unlikely. This info is so valuable, we don't need to be going off the cliff. Wishing you well and that you love yourself...a LOT

I am so glad that you asked because NO ONE speaks about post-menopause, and especially the first three years, which continue to be painful. You don't just get out of menopause, even after one year of not having your periods. I am going through it and it is debilitating still. I do not take HRT. I wish you could create an episode focussed on all the challenges that women face post menopause - from becoming invisible to men who choose to look at younger women, to being put inside a box (grand mother), to sexual drive, nutrition, exercise etc. We are the most underserved segment of the population. Unfortunately women need to choose and the earlier, the better. As a former natural bodybuilding fitness competitor and now a trainer for 12 plus years, it is imperative to understand the female physiology to derive the best possible outcome when it comes to health and fitness. Often times male trainers do not understand the female bodies and would apply the same principals to both men and women. However, information and studies are more readily available and things are changing...Understanding hormone fluctuations in the different phases of the menstrual cycle, is best for programming workouts and knowing what the individual can handle and of course it varies from person to person. I'm loving this interview but I have even more questions. Why are there so many experts that don't agree on the data? It's very frustrating. I could name 10 other experts in their field that say differently about carbs and fasting. What about eating ancestrally? What about eating locally and seasonally? What about how fruit has been genetically modified to be larger, more sweet, and less fibrous? What about anti-nutrients in veggies? What about the differences in people who are fat adapted versus carb adapted? What about all the people who have cut all carbs for 6 months to a year and their gut microbiome improved and became more diverse? What about ice baths and the different effects it has on people with a cold climate maternal lineage versus those from a hotter climate? What about all the hormone experts and brain health experts that say fat is what you need? I've listened to so many different interviews of doctors / research scientists/experts and they all say something different. Some say it's all about your liver health, some say it's all about your gut health, some say it's all about your circadian health, some say it's all about your mitochondrial health... The more you learn, the more confused you are.

I agree, Dr. Mindy Peltz has a slightly different view on the fasting, even though she does adapt it for women based around their cycle. And we all are biochemically unique in addition to which different blood types also will respond differently to different diets. I’ve worked a lot with the Blood Type Diet in Fertility and it’s a game changer to work from that perspective and it really is what turned me onto eating a Paleo diet for my old blood type and feeling so much better but it took 30 days of intermittent fasting to break years of Thinking I was hypoglycemic because I was eating carbs for breakfast< even though it was hot cereal instead of cold cereal I felt much better eating fish or Japanese style breakfast or post salmon or bacon and eggs and now I know for myself I need to add the greens to all of my meals as well.
@dez627815 күн бұрын
@@carlamcclure1911 You might be insulin resistant, which eventually causes blood sugar spikes from eating carbs alone, then crashes that make you hungry again in 3hrs. Look up Reactive hypoglycemia. Eating slower digesting foods like protein and fiber with the carbs can help decrease the spike and crash.
@liny852815 күн бұрын
Experts can't agree because the data is inconclusive, but instead of saying "we don't know" they state their best guess as facts because that is how they become relevant. Here’s my advice as a 51yo woman who still has a regular cycle and minimal weight gain (I’ve actually gained muscle not fat) over past 10yrs. Cut right back on cardio, do strength training - I do power yoga twice a week & lift heavy twice a week and then long walks sometimes with a weighted vest 4 to 5x a week (but not super heavy weight). I eat animal based every meal, I no longer do any prolonged fasts just eat 3X a day clean and animal based with l o animal fat & fermented veggies, no snacking, no alcohol, v minimal sugar. Go to bed early, stay cool, get rid of chemicals/toxins. Get rid of toxic people & stressful work. Love yourself & find joy in the small things. About improvement of symptoms after menopause: My mother had hot flashes at the age of 78 when she passed away. My symptoms got much worse 14 years (!) after onset of menopause. I went for HRT patches 9 months ago and the frozen shoulder, UTI-like symptoms, back pain (osteopenia), joint pain are gone. Hot flashes 90% reduced.

Hopefully she'll get some of that money Biden released through executive action. While everybody else was talking about stupid political dog whistles that don't affect our lives at all. There was an executive order signed for the first time in the history of the United States government to fund medical research on women's bodies. I only found it because I came across The tick tock. Maria Shriver was there and posted something. Let's hope it doesn't get overturned with a changing administration.

For some reason I can take a cold plunge colder and longer than any man I know. But when it comes to being in the chilled (not cold) water (72-76°F) for 5-8 hours, I get so much colder than everyone, including the other women (though none of them are as skinny as me.) I cried listening to her!!!! I have struggled all my life loosing weight … my life has become eating so little and if I eat one normal meal I kill myself with guilt. 20 years!!!!! And I wouldn’t loose weight as much as my male friends. And they always body shamed me and told me I was cheating on my diet. It’s hurt me and psychologically damaged me SO much!!!! I was always taught to follow what men were doing but much less calories. Now that I’m 41 I am facing all the issues in my body and energy levels and I don’t feel heard! Listening to her made me feel better! Knowing it’s normal to feel this. I still don’t have a solution because I am tired of feeling tired, there’s so much I want to do but I can’t.

I hear you. So much bad information out there for women. If I can pass along one piece of advice, find a functional doctor. They do in-depth research on your health issues, what is at a good level, what is low, and based on blood results, what to suggest to align your insides. I'm in Canada, and the visit is not covered under my regular health benefits, so I do have to pay to see her and I do have to pay for the prescribed blood work that is above what a GP would prescribe. It will take time, but a functional doctor will dig into your health issues and work to get you on the right path to looking good and feeling good about yourself.

So much comes back to exercise and movement - physical, mental and spiritual fitness. Hormone regulation, mood, physical strength, stamina, flexibility, wellbeing, clarity, creative thinking. Just MOVE in all directions, lift heavy things, climb, jump, skip, dance. Yet we do jobs that have us move less and less, more and more effort and supposed time saving gadgets so we use our body less and less. Plus we label those children who don't want to sit still as disordered in some way🙄

Finally!! A nutritionist who really understands that not one diet or exercise fits all--but especially for women!! I've always stayed true to my own rhythm and needs, avoiding what everyone else is doing that may or may not be working. Short term vs long term effects are not discussed enough either, especially if weight loss is the main goal. Every new diet one goes on will most likely feel better in the beginning, but in the long haul, what's really happening to the organs long term? Women in peri or post menopause in particular must rethink/revamp their whole lifestyles, not just food intake.

Almost 50 now and my research has revealed ferritin needs to be at least 50, preferably 70-80. Started taking iron supplements and CoQ10. What a difference in energy levels. Dr's put me on antidepressants, acid to reduce monthly flow and tryptans for migraines ..... all they needed to go increase my ferritin levels. Don't trust doctors anymore.

Also, can I just say how refreshing it is to see Steve wanting to better understand the menstrual cycle and support his partner? That kind of curiosity is so needed. One thing I wish had been mentioned, though, is that these physiological differences don’t imply superiority or inferiority between genders. Women are NOT less than men because of these differences.

Amazing! I tore my ACL twice, once as an NCAA D1 athlete, 2nd recreationally, and I remember my rehab being focused more on strengthening my quads and the muscles surrounding in knees. This was almost 10-15 years ago and no one ever structured anything for the differences in our body. It was standard rehab and training even though at that time, we knew that our composition was different. Makes me resent that our healthcare has been focused on what is easier, more cost effective, and not what is truly in our best interest. Thankful for women like this MD, who have are fighting to display our beautiful differences, so the future generations can avoid some of the issues so many women have dealt with, as athletes.

It looks like women should be able to compete against men if they are able. But XYs should NOT be able to compete against XXs because of muscle, skeletal, heart, and lung differences.

Who is "they"? Are you talking about the doctors and specialists who blatantly ignore differences because studying men is easier, as she explains at the beginning of the video? If anyone believes that men and women are exactly the same, it's because women's health has largely been ignored and the healthcare system has been tailored to men. And the trans community are not saying men and women are the same, they are figuring out how they fit into this world and how they feel in their bodies, something that we need to be sympathetic and compassionate towards.

This information is so important for women. We are not built like men, we are more complex. There's a way to eat and train according to where we are in our cycle. I'm still trying to figure out what that looks like for me; the adjustments I've done have already been amazing! When researching online about resistance training, it's all male centred and doesn't take into account how our hormones play a key role in our performance. Unless you want your hormones and out whack and a period that has disappeared, you need to train and eat according to your cycle.

Now this is proof that they should not mix the sexes in sports and let a person who was biologically born a man to compete with a biologically born woman. There are differences between men and women and it’s not fair if that man decides to compete in women’s sports because he wants to volunteer to change his gender. God knew what He was doing when He created a male to be a man and a female to be woman. There are differences that cannot and must not be interchanged by society’s standards.

@@cilitagaspar2132I think you misunderstood. You need vitamin D3 WITH K2 There is no vitamin DK
@toade2214 күн бұрын
@@cilitagaspar2132 It's not necessarily completely different.. it's suggested to take Vitamin D3 and K2 ..those are two separate fat soluble vitamins that work synergistically.. The other guest just took it a step further. It can be a lot to remember all those little details especially in this midst of convo.. I think he does a great job given all the little details But yeah it can definitely feel we are all being told different things. You try different things and see what feels best for you! ❤️

Thank you for bringing Dr. Sims on your show. Shedding light on the differences in male and female biology is so important in the world of health and fitness. Women are finally getting the info they need to understand why the way they feel.
