When I first started having chest pains, a cardiologist scheduled me to come in for one of these stress tests. When I got there, and the nurse hooked me up to the monitor, she told me to sit down and went to get the doctor. He looked at the EKG and told me to go straight to the emergency room next door. Later that day they tried to do a stent, but could not due to the location of blockage and the next morning I had a triple bypass. I have done the stress test about 18 months after the surgery, but they did a chemical one....Pretty weird, having your heart feel like it is going to explode from beating so hard and fast, then when they inject the med to slow it back down, you get an awful metal taste in your mouth. The nurse gave me a soda, and that helped take the metal taste away. The other bad part was the scan they did before and after the test...(I hate having to lie so still for that long!) Hi! I just found your videos on my search for what a heart catheter procedure is like. I had a VSD and transposition of the greater arteries six weeks after I was born. We always knew I couldn't keep up with other kids in elementary school, but back then it didn't matter. Then I went to middle school and high school where I couldn't pass the mile run test in the time allotted. I had my first exercise test at fourteen, right as I was entering high school. From then on, I was excused from running the mile, but I continued to dance through middle school, high school, and even college! I also had an MRI done when I was 18 to check for any problems going into adulthood (I'm 26 this year). We only just found out this past year that I have a residual ASD which is keeping my oxygen levels at 88%. I am going in for a catheter procedure in about a month to see if they can close it up, and I really hope they can! I can't imagine breathing at a normal level and how euphoric that will feel. I totally get how you feel about how scary cardiology appointments can be. I have been very lucky to only ever have to see mine once a year, but every time I'm afraid that this will be the time that something life-threatening will be happening. I hope they figure out what is happening with your heart! W can always exchange emails if you want someone to talk through during this journey!

Hi Alicia, My apologies for the delay in replying. I see you commented about a month ago now, so I'm not sure if you'd had the cath yet but I hope the procedure went well! I could imagine that was some scary news to hear, but I'm glad to hear they found a cause for your lower oxygen saturations with a relatively simple fix. :) Thanks for watching!
