No stranger to the TEDx stage. Building on her powerful TEDxWanChai Women talk in 2015, Lori talks about taking a chance on YOU and not focusing on what other people think about you, but rather what you think about yourself.
The road to success is paved with failure and determination. From mother, to chef, to entrepreneur her journey was anything but smooth, but it was all worth it!
Lori Granito is the founder of Kitchen Sync, Hong Kong’s first culinary incubator for start up food entrepreneurs. She is also the owner of Go Gourmet Catering and the award winning Magnolia private kitchen. She is the co-founder of Little Burro, a growing chain of San Francisco Mission style burrito restaurants. Lori was responsible for the development and marketing of her company’s concepts, including implementing the marketing plans, developing all dishes, organizing all PR, as well as the recruitment and training of staff. The ongoing success of her companies is directly attributable to her vision, energy and skills.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

My dog Louie departed 8 days ago, and the pain and anguish is almost unbearable. Guilt, regret, grief, and second guessing are the emotions that fuel my racing mind. It's a horrible experience that I have unfortunately been through 5 times. But I know that he loved me, and wanted only to make me happy, and that is a beautiful thing. All of the love, laughter, loyalty, and devotion are given to us on credit, and in the end, we pay dearly for it. So is it worth it? I take great comfort in knowing that he spent his life with me. I cannot imagine not knowing him, or how hollow my heart would be had our lives not intersected. Yes it is absolutely worth it! 100 percent. I would do anything for him, including going through this horrible pain and grief. I miss you Louie, more than words can describe.

Listen and pay attention because this lady knows what she is talking bout. Failure is part of the process. Being afraid is failure is definitely going to hold you back. People fail all the time and you just get up dust yourself off and keep your mind on the success that comes from your learning process.Fear of failure is holding you back. Get over the fear and you’ll succeed or accept failure and settle for a life of regret. It’s your life and your choice so choose wisely.

I've jumped. I was going to die in my situation if I stayed in it any longer. I parted with everything I loved. I had no interest in leaving any of it behind. I was in a DV situation and self-harming to be away from control of women. It was not a pleasant experience but I'm not good at taking help well and find the concept to be controlling and offensive, also. The situation created for me was to lead me to being a dependent when I was already extremely independent and fighting for better. I'm still better off dead than I am treated like I don't have a right and am a woman made for f'ing and cooking. I don't mind cooking. I don't want anybody "taking good care of me" or isolating or torturing me again in the manner in which i was. Yes, I miss my dog, home, job, everything I love. I wanted all of it but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I miss all of it every day and nothing will really replace it. I ended up on a park bench sleeping the night with my feet so swollen the skin popped off of the bottom. I made my way out of the situation. To be honest, I'd rather sleep outdoors than be "cared for". Oppressed, taught my female role in society, have my religion picked for me be told who I am. Shoes don't fit. There has to be one of "these". There was nothing wrong with what I was doing and I don't need people beating me until there's nothing left in me to get what they want from me again. I'm not made for slavery, mental, physical, religious - I suppose one man's junk is another man's treasure. I can reuse happily.
