I think people get hostile because it's just part of the process of grief for most people, before fully accepting that it's over we sometimes get angry and we become hostile to try and protect our emotions from being hurt or relieved to the person who hurt you. We sometimes feel resentment towards that person and it translates to hostility.

I like what you said that when you start a relationship, you must bear in mind that it might not end the way you wanted. It's important cos there's no guarantee, even in marriage... absolutely no guarantee!
