You always deliver 3 points Tom and Andrew, unlike Pompey who seem to have slipped backwards, reverting back to previous seasons. One bad result/performance happens, two is concerning, three is very concerning. All that really matters is being in the top two positions at the end of the season, we're only halfway through.....please PUP !!

Thank you Tom and Andrew. Long drive to the Exeter ground and for pompy to only get a 0-0 result is disappointing. Yes it is a point but when pompy look tired and lethargic like you say it's not a great projection of what the rest of the season will be for us. I hope pompy find that spark that got them the results to get us on top of the league because if we do for some reason get promoted, playing like we are in the last few games won't keep us in the championship. Moving forwards we can only do what we can from the sidelines. We can shout, cheer, sing and boo at poor sportsmanship, but for the pompy lads and coaching staff they need to have a review of what is going wrong internally. We need to play like a championship team now so we can hold our own against some of the teams currently in the championship. Thanks for all you do and thank you to the lads who join in the videos. They make it a great watch and love the opinions they give, it is hands down the best coverage of being a pompy fan this channel. See you in the new year!

‘Championship ready’ style performances are important for any side wanting promotion and that’s what we were looking like for large parts of our season so far, yet as you say the last week has let us down and we now look a lot further away from being anywhere near ready for the step up in terms of performances! January comes at a nice time for us, so we’ll see what happens with that in the next few weeks. Thank you for your very kind words on what we’ve been putting together, it really is very much appreciated. Looking forward to bringing Monday’s video to you!

It's at this time of year that squad depth starts to show. Bolton and Derby have the best squads in this league in my humble opinion. Player rotation is critical in getting through so many games and if it's not done right or the depth isn't there it's inevitable that standards drop. Look at Bolton's bench last night as they clinically executed Fleetwood. Look at Derby's run. Those 2 were both the bookies red hot favourites for a reason. Their bench would get in any team in this league. Leaugue 1 is a war made up 46 battles..to win a war needs depth in the ranks and Portsmouth need to add quickly.

Slight concerns for our club at the moment. For me the problem is the pedestrian pace of our football, especially in the first half of games. Possession is pointless without some sort of cutting edge. We have to find a way to play Yengi and Bishop together, although that problem disappears for a while now!

Other teams have worked Pompey out. Add into the mix nerves and a toothless attack, and I'd be surprised if we won another match this season. Well, we will, but only when the pressure is off and out of the play-offs come end of April. Stevenage are a good side and could give us a good Blackpool-esque schooling.

Hard to understand what Mousinho is thinking with his starting 11 with Morrell, Kamara, Saydie and Yengi sidelined. I can only imagine he underestimated Exeter's resiliance and overestimated today's Pompey starting 11's ability to create against them. Gavin Whyte doesn't seem to add much in the way of creativity. The team looks devoid of ideas and capability to create decent chances. The miss by Bishop was almost unforgiveable, his mind doesn't seem to be in the right place, not for an out and out striker anyway. We also seem to be reluctant to shoot from the edge of the area. Worrying.
@johnkirton2534
@johnkirton2534 Жыл бұрын
A couple of decent signings in January are badly needed. Robertson has run out of steam, others seem to have played too many minutes recently, Sparkes being one. I expect lots of toys being thrown out of prams if Monday sees a similar result/ performance. Lots of fans got over excited before this poor run. We are a bit short on squad depth and lucked out some results earlier in the season. Still in with a good chance of the two automatic places if we get the January window right. Why hasn't Stevenson been given more of a chance? Has Whyte got off the field issues? Has Bishop had his head turned by transfer interest? A few of the squad just aren't good enough.

Trying to keep the faith 😬😬 We can't really say it's because the boys are leggy - it's the same for all the teams and the ones behind us are coming at a gallop. Trying to pin it down? We are not scoring...obvious I know, but Bishop just doesn't look like a threat at the moment. When was the last time he scored from open play? One big factor has been Robertson. The last 3 or 4 games he has been completely out of it. Ball control, first touch, passing - just poor. He was a massive influence on moving the ball from back / midfield to attacking opportunities. Let's hope he gets his form back fast. Sorry to say, but so far I've seen nothing from Whyte to justify him starting at all. But....we keep the faith! PUP!😊😊

So so disappointing Tom. What has happened to the team that outplayed Bolton and were superb at Northampton? Yes the younger players have played a lot of games and need a break. But the moose seems fixated on picking Whyte, who does very little. Bishop does not seem fit and is certainly not sharp. I think Monday is absolutely crucial in the way our season will progress. Win and we can get back on track but lose and all of the positives will be lost. Many thanks as always Tom. Excellent and honest assessment of where pompey stand. I’m lost for words mate. We cannot score for love nor money, unnecessary recycling all the time to Norris just for him to lose it. Such a boring game to watch too, not making excuses but ref yet again made some howling decisions for both teams and I genuinely think he left his cards at home. A point is a point but standard Pompey, 9 point lead down to a measly 2. Also with Colby not scoring and Yengi who’s off soon it just makes me wonder if this is the downfall? I’m speechless Tom! PUP 💙

I said to the boys around us off camera at the start of the night that if the ref continues to give every little challenge as a foul then we won’t be able to get our rhythm going. However, a good performance starts from the back and the distribution was well off - thus setting our standard! The lead is slandering badly as you say, but I imagine many would have taken 50 points after 24 games at the start of the season? Long way to go!

My takeaways from the last 3 games are a) Morrell and Robertson work better, we look favored dynamic and energetic in midfield both with and without the ball. Pack hides behind the opposition when we have the ball. B) Whyte shouldn't start any games even when rotating. C) we don't have a plan b to break down teams with 11 men behind the ball. Not panic stations were top going into the new year, however its bitterly disappointing to have thrown away such a big lead at the top against these 3 sides. Would've expected 5 points absolute minimum.

Well Tom, we had this very chat a while ago, the facts are clear, every year at this time until the window closes, we are bloody awful, we revert to hoof n hope, we have players who’s contracts are up in the Summer, with the potential of being sold, they don’t know if they are out the door or not. Bishops form is well below his usual standards, is he on the way out, does he know this himself or not? Whatever, he appears to be playing not to get injured ahead of a potential move away. We are playing like a normal bang average L1 team, devoid of confidence class or a will to win, a far cry from the Bolton game , a game where we hit our peak perhaps, all we know is that the games that followed,have been dire. Once again we hit the January window and we have 11 players out of contract, it’s not rocket science is it? Happy new year to you and your channel Tom. PUP

Watched the excruciating performance on iFollow...thats ANOTHER 90 minutes I'll never get back.! Pompey had so much of the ball...but inexplicably spend half of that time passing BACKWARDS, ACROSS and back to a goalkeeper who seemed intent on kicking the ball out of play.! For all the effort he produced, Bishop could have stayed at home and put his feet up with his family. It was really only when the subs came on that Pompey actually looked a bit dangerous. Why they werent on from the start is worrying. Whyte, Devlin and a couple of others were just not in the game. There was no passion , no fight...and no leadership. Exeter should have won the game but for their woeful finishing. This is beginning to look like Pompey of the past few years who start off like contenders, but then fall away in the New Year. Mousinho MUST get in a couple of experienced Championship players to bolster this squad, which needs a new injection of skill and passion...or its going to be a nail biting end to the season to even hang on to a Play Off place.! Thank you Tom, from all of us exiles who watch your vlogs which keep us up to date with our precious team. Happy New Year to you and your family, and as the saying goes in Scotland "Lang May Yer Lum Reek" !!!

7 goals from open play this season, which is less than one in three for the team at the top. His finishing has been poor this season and he's missed more big chances than anybody in the league despite mossing some games. Yengi's xG + xA is much higher and he leads the line more effectively. Where Bishop is particularly poor is dropping in short to receive the ball to feet or into his body to then lay off or hold up. I agree that he's decent at aerial duels but often heads the ball on to nobody.
