Exhaust Porting Pt. 2 Air injection delete 2ZZ

So what about the injection delete???? I have a modified ex manifold (pipe cut crimped and welded). I want to swap that out so I can eventually Do my tiki if chain cover gasket without having to remove the manifold. I have a 2003 ECU in it (It’s a 2004 matrix xrs) so I’ve passed emissions. So I don’t really need the air injection. What’s on the other end of the air injection pump? Like is there something behind the bumper?????

I believe early model 2zz don’t have air injection. So if you have a repinned ECU, I believe you can just disconnect the air injection pump and not triggering a CEL. I took it off just to clean up my bay. I hardly drive mine so I’m not too worried about emissions.

That’s a intake Diffuser. It leads the air to the cold air intake.

@@gansitoheimperformance271 well I was just trying to figure out what is attached to the air injection pump on the driver side….you known it has that metal tube across the top of the radiator that goes somewhere behind the drivers side headlight etc. I think there’s a solenoid of sorts or something. Anyhow….wish to god they would’ve come up with a bette redesign than that damn metal tube that comes off the exhaust manifold. Sooooo stupid (again, tahinis all about my timing chain cover gasket….having to loosen and all but remove the exhaust manifold in order to remove the cover. Just dumb). Anyhow…thank you.

Unless you plan to reflash your ECU with R9K or go stand-alone. You’ll trigger a Check engine light. It’s an emissions component that the ECU needs to read. I had my Check Engine Light bypassed with R9ks reflash.

No it won’t. It’s just an emissions component to help the environment with the rest of the other millions of cars. Mechanically you really don’t need it and won’t harm the performance of the vehicle and overall.

It will not. You need to Tune the ECM if you plan to delete it.
