In late 2019, I was fortunate enough to special ordered a 2020 Lexus IS 350 FSPORT w/ rear-wheel drive... which I absolutely loved and was generally very happy with, until the redesigned/enhanced 21' model debuted. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to be able to (again) custom order the 21' version, this time with Dynamic Handling Package + rear-wheel drive, and replace the 2020 version following nearly a year of ownership. I must admit, EACH time that I drive my 21' IS, the more I love it! The feel is so natural, yet refined, yet communicative, and analog, compared to most modern cars... even within the Lexus lineup. I actually get excited to drive my car and get behind the wheel, and it is the perfect car of its type for my driving style, taste, and needs. There are faster cars, but as far as compact luxury sports sedans are concerned, this one is SUCH a delightful and authentic driver's car. These are underrated, and people don't know how to really appreciate them the way that they deserve to be appreciated, and were designed to be enjoyed.

I think the Lexus IS is still one of the better option to choose if you want a luxury sport sedan. I think the current IS is the best looking one by far (either that or the 2nd generation IS), but it is definitely getting a little bit long in the tooth in terms of the interior. Although even that interior still looks very nice, as Lexus really knows how to do interiors really well, compared to their other Japanese luxury car competitors. Lexus just needs to update the interior and maybe the transmission. The current 6-speed is not a horrible transmission, but definitely in need of a better transmission to help it feel faster and sportier.

I owned a 2018 IS300 4 cyl for about a year and a half. It was a great little car. Only downsides are interior room and maintenance costs. It ran through a set of tires in about 15-20k miles since the wheels are staggered, turbo regulator valve was stuck open and replaced under warranty, 4 cyl calls for spark plugs every 40k miles, and water pump started failing around 65k miles. Traded it in since depreciation really started taking a hit and got a 2009 Acura TL. Definitely a different feel, but it’s sporty enough.

It’s a shame they got rid of the Yamaha Sports Bike exhaust tips from the 2017-20 models. Instead, they replaced them with some ordinary looking round tips. Also there’s a big difference between the F SPORT and non F SPORT models for 2017-20. The seats, suspension and driving dynamics are so much better on F models. The car feels so much eager to go faster and more stable at speeds on corners. The non F Sport is too relaxed and it’s always trying to stay in the upper gears. I’d like to try the 2021 models for comparison:)

I have MY2018 IS 300H F-Sport with AVS suspension, moonroof and ML sound & premium Nav. I still love this car even after 150k km. There is some magic that I can´t explain, robust interior, excellent sound system, in dark when I walk by to take out garbage it illuminates mirrors I give look on it. Build quality is awesome and everything works like charm even I got 220k km on ODO. I have big problem because they end selling it in EU after 2019, what to drive next, I don´t want ES or SUV, this is last RWD Lexus in market.. Maybe I go with Corolla because it´s all same to me after all :(. But I have still 100-200k km left to run. I have driven many MBs, Audis, BMWs but something is missing, German made cars are kind of a cold, too engineered and complex. I also hate touch screens. Lexus IS MMI is crappy, I learned to use it pretty good after all, but where Lexus beats all competitors are physical buttons, basic functions are separate and material quality is very nice. I bought it just before Covid-shit and interior is like new, materials are true quality, hot summers and very cold winters, no any rattles or squeeks. Many German made cars door panels are annoyingly loose in before 150k km. Greets from Finland!

Although the Lexus wasn't as fast and agile as the 370z, it made me feel good even when driving at slow speed cause it drives so smoothly lmao. My grandmother approved of it as well, as she was worried of my 370z from making all of that road noise when I used to give her rides to places and when I first got my Lexus, she was in prayer position thanking God while the car sales guy was laughing his ass off 😂 I also want to mention that my monthly car insurance went down from $212 a month to $84 a month when I made the switch(I've been driving for around 10 years with a clean record besides 2 minor accidents towards the beginning of my driving years both which wasn't my fault)

Hi, i'm seriously interested in a 2021 Lexus is 300, been studding and learning the features especially between the 4 cylinder turbo and 6 cylinder. My understanding is the turbo fails at about 150K miles or less is massive cost repair, love the style of this car, anything you can add ??
@MeynMotorGroup Жыл бұрын
Yes skip it and get a 350 F sport and most importantly, no point in messing with the used car market for a semi new car, just get a brand new one. Autcompanion is offering 11% off msrp on new Lexus IS 300 & IS 350 and additional incentive for leasing. Literally ends up costing the same if not even less to buy new in this market

Carbon buildup due to Direct Injection. Putting additives in the gas tank do nothing as the gas never hits the back of the valves. Shame they just keep doing it over and over and over. The IS350 has duel port injection so they are not affected by carbon buildup issues.

@@MeynMotorGroup Because of the lack of power? Reliability?
@MeynMotorGroup Жыл бұрын
Lack of power and carbon build up since it’s only DI
@Marcoshary Жыл бұрын
@@MeynMotorGroup I see. Although CBU , I wouldn't worry too much of all the maintenance is done properly and up to date. There's no record of any problem like that in IS models in my country. Also, the gasoline here(regular one) has higher percentage of ethanol, which helps not to formate the carbon. I heard opinions for long time owners as well, and if the maintenance is done regularly, there shouldn't be a problem. Regarding the power, that's something to think about, but I think it would be enough. Let's see. 😀 But thanks for replying. 😀

I personally wouldn’t recommend tuning a car as it voids warranty. I think the best thing is paying up for an IS 350 F sport AWD as it will have better resale value as well. Also I forgot to mention the IS 300 RWD is a turbo 4 engine which I don’t recommend

I have a 17 is300 awd with the same 3.5 v6 as the 350 f sport, just about 30 or 40 hp less. if buying a used one a tune is a lot cheaper than getting the f sport model IMHO idc for the red interior
