If they made him a no-ult champion like udyr and make his R a mana regen skill of some kind that had Flux interactions, he'd be viable in solo queue, less precarious to play early game, and have a smoother power curve in pro play. Something like twisted fate's blue card, where it restores mana if it hits and maybe gives a shield if there's flux, replacing his old shield

For example when he procs flux depending on the first spell cast in his combo he gets a different bonus. If he uses Q first he gets movement speed. If he uses E first he gets a shield, If he uses W first his next 2 spells will have their mana refunded. This would give him versatility but still make him vulnerable. you can also make his ult scale so it's weaker at lvl 6 and better at level 11 and 16. I think the roaming ult is still fun to use but just not viable for lower elos.

The problem with ryze is that his ultimate is highly dependent on cooperation with your teammates. So it's way more useful in the professional scene than in solo q. That is why it's impossible to balance him in a way that he's good in solo q and not OP in pro scene. He needs another rework.

and honestly, in a game with 140 champions, i think it's fine that some are less viable in non-coordinated teams. but tbf, it's not that hard to use his ultimate. you can use it to escape when being pinched or chase down enemies. it's just a lot trickier to use than most ultimates which are just "press R when shit hits the fan and things need dying"

Yeah, this is the problem with Ryze. He needs to face damage dealers, mostly assassins who will 100 to 0 him in a blink of an eye. And thats not enough that they have instant damage and movement, but they just cant be punished in lane. There is still this insane lane sustain and lifesteal meta what makes them literal drain tanks. And NO the grievous wounds worth nothing against their infinity selfhealing. The only thing RIOT achieved with the GW that the support role feels more useless. Really they need to differentiate between selfhealing and healing others. Until they cut down this ridiculous lane sustain, selfhealing and lifesteal at least 50% I dont want to play this game.

FAQ - WOW! There's a lot of new viewers on this video! I can tell by how many people have asked about the league footage, which is something I've done for a while. I'm glad you guys like it. So... "How can I make my league look like this? Does it look like that when I play?" Short answer: Unfortunately, no it's post production. Long answer: It's a combination of a few things really. I have a 4k monitor, but the footage is recorded all in replays, not live. The Creator Suite replay tool is used to make the cinematic camera movement and the fog and shadows. The colors are color graded in Adobe Premiere Pro. My league of legends looks just like yours does when I play more or less. See 9:18 in the video of me in the practice tool recording my live gameplay!

If anything more and more people are playing League than ever as you see more and more streamers stream the game than there ever was 3-4 years ago, like no joke I see a person post their twitch link in my gold games at least once in every five games I play, this never used to be like this back in 2014, people would actually play the game moreso for fun and not care about a viewership, now it seems like every game you play (mostly normals) everyone wants to ff at 15 when they die once in lane lmao, I killed a teemo yesterday twice in lane and he immediately afked in the fountain, it was unfun to play against because people don't even want to put in the time and effort anymore, the upside to this however is that the more people that play and the better you get, the more you will feel a sense of accomplishment because you can tell yourself, and it actually being true, that you are better than ##% of the player-base. This has nothing to do with the game, it has to do with the player's attitude towards the game because honestly, why do people keep playing it if they aren't having fun lmao, I'm not talking about addiction, I'm talking about people who take a break from the game, and then all of a sudden they want to play League, then they get upset because they don't want to try, and so on and so forth. I have actually had more fun playing ranked than I have had in normals because the community is actually terrible. On a side note, I was playing with a challenger player named Zyko (you can look at his games I was playing Pantheon), and I was doing incredibly bad, like I needed to go to bed at the time and I actually felt tired af, he said in chat "i dont think i can carry this guys" and he threw up an ff vote, i said no, and he proceeded to be toxic the whole game and steal camps i was taking, but i proceeded to click no every time a vote popped up, we ended up winning because people need to honestly shut the fuck up and play the stupid game, there's more to league than just "carrying" that all these pro coaches seem to care about so much, there's giving your team reassurance (saying gj every once and a while and making your team feel good about themselves) while there is also banter to the enemy team, NEVER EVER flame your team, it honestly does more harm than good because people are so stubborn these days they don't want to listen to any advice to get better. TL;DR; The problem with league is the disgusting evolved community, the only way to deal with it on an emotional level is to honestly get better yourself to prove to people you are capable dealing with all the toxic shit in this game, while simultaneously being able to carry your team with whatever means possible, I see diamond players try and 1v9 wayyyyyy too much, when they need to admit to themselves that they need their team sometimes (obviously this is nonexistant in low elo, but in low elo thats when you use your team as bait, not people you can rely on), they are still a team, all they need to do is hold a tower for as long as possible until someone pops off. There is no need to play aggressive as fuck every game, especially in games that are in your own elo because you don't learn anything, you're just doing things that got you there, which this eventually isn't a viable way to climb anymore. Alright, I'm done rambling, hopefully you've learned something, and I know you probably don't care about any of this, I just want someone else that has thought about quitting League to know that it isn't the game's fault it's the players lmao.

I like the general assessment here, but I really thing you missed out on a huge part of the story, which is Realm Warp. It's such an astonishingly powerful ability in organized play that it eats up a huge portion of Ryze's power budget. But in solo queue it's waaaay less useful since it usually requires the sort of coordinated split second decisions that aren't really possible without comms and practice. If Ryze's numbers were balanced for solo queue he would be 100% ban in pro because he would be a powerful DPS/burst mage with one of the most impactful semi-global abilities in the game.

They could just do it so : life steal and most big heals : heal 70% of their value instantly and 30% over a duration of five seconds. This will punish players who relly on lifesteal too much and make it more balanced.

Hello there, Ryze main here, 780,000 points, peaked at rank ~1200 on him on LoLgraphs. Just establishing some credibility. Unlike many Ryze mains, I joined in the later years of league, the end of season 7, when Kayn was being released. Since that horrible decision of me picking up that champ, I've seen many things, none of which are good. In season 7 he was awesome, he was a good pick in solo Q despite his team-oriented ultimate, and he could hold his own in 1v1s since he had a unique playstyle and somewhat high ceiling of mastery. Due to pro-play, I watched my blueboi (as referenced in r/RyzeMains) get dismantled one fragment at a time: - Zhonya cancels ultimate channel - Reduce overload effects (shield and movement speed) - Reduce AP rations - Increase mana costs - Increase ultimate cooldowns - Completely remove his overload shields (granted they did buff his damage, but that just made him worse as he is just another glass cannon, except he doesn't deal that much damage and needs a fûck ton of items to excel) - Rework E (Spell Flux) spreak and remove its damage - Reduce W (Rune prison) root duration - Change W from root to slow This just about sums up his nerfs since season 7, making him disgustingly unplayable in solo Q. Riot gives 0 fûcks about solo Q though, as all his nerfs were made as he had not only a

This is random but I've hated Irelia ever since that clip of Faker getting 1v1d while being fed on Syndra, having everything up, landing all but 1 Q, exhausting Irelia at 2% hp, and still dying because Irelia. Oh and Ryze is here too yeah he exists.

I really can't see how you can hate Irelia based on that clip. Yes Faker hit almost every spell he had, but he was a 0/2/5 with 160cs and utility runes against a 2/1 Irelia with 200cs + Mercury + Conqueror, and Syndra really lacks damage once she gets behind. As @Deathly Void said, Faker's placement was disrespectful in that situation, didn't flash anything, and he got punished for it, nothing to be angry for.

Ryze's early mana issues make it very hard to impact up to mid game. If you try to shove a wave there'd be no mana left. If he can count with the 2nd and 3rd blues it's still very viable

I mean have you even seen taliyah? Taliyah is unplayable in both her main role and off role. The only viable way to play her is as a cheese support/adc. And even then you have to have a duo who understands how to interact with taliyah. It's so depressing because all of the champs that were good in s5/s6/s7 are just getting gutted in favor of champs like Qiyana and Katarina. Super depressing to see some of the most unique and coolest designs in the game being gutted. It really shows how far riot has fallen when the meta is just damage and healing.

Azir is absolutely not as bad as ryze. Azir has a good and safe early game and his cc from ult alone makes him so much more valuable in team fights compared to ryze.

This is important to note as this means you need to invest more of your time to learn him while being in efficient due to Riot always keeping him on the underpowered side of things, which equates to a terrible time spent for reward. I could also just play 50 games of Katarina and have far better results than 100 games on Azir Does Jack shit before at least 2 items compared to Ryze which has single target burst which matters considering the skirmish early game meta we live in. People always bring up his "safe early game" yes it's safe but he also by far deals the least amount of damage in a short period of time. And remember burst > dps in early to mid game If you go in for a shuffle you are EXTREMELY vulnerable so you have to absolutely know when to go in otherwise your team lost one of their dps Champs. So in conclusion you have one of the few last remaining true hyper carries in the game who is not only chucked by Riot games balance team but also the decreasing game timers which make it incredibly difficult to carry reliably

As a Ryze main myself, the real issue is working with your team as Ryze. If you're low elo, it is expected to group and team fight in NA so you lose a lot of what makes Ryze good. As fair as the items issue, the beginning of the season was not good for him due to everyone having to unlearn what they had done for years with him. The removal of a lot of items that gave mana really hurt him as well until we learned the new items that worked. Again the main issue for Ryze, is that players do not know how to work with him in game that for the Ryze player themselves and their teammates.

Ryze could use an Ezreal like teleport or a quick dash option and do away with the ult teleport. As of right now, he is entirely dependent on hitting a group of minions and triggering a chain reaction from the back but once you're forced to fight another champ 1v1, you need to hit that root or else you're screwed.

I really enjoy Ryze. I always have since S3 in all of his iterations, and his current is likely my favorite. He's one of my most wanted m7s (he's m6 rn) but I've found it immensely challenging to play him consistently since the item changes, and have not had a lot of fun with him this season. He really just needs RoA or something similar but maybe slightly weaker to be enjoyable again imo.

Well, actually I'd say ryze's CS/Min is actually one of his best qualities imo. Rush a lost chapter then you can just spam E - Q and become an anivia with 200 cs at 20 minutes. Although, it's a lot harder when you are behind like many Ryze players are.

His 5 man ult is not a positive feature in ranked, its a NEGATIVE feature. You REDUCE your chances of winning by 5 man ulting.

I always wanted to try Ryze out since I got to lvl 20 or somewhere around that but was kinda scared of how complex he's being presented. But if you're saying that he's actually OK maybe Ill give him a try now that I'm lvl 143 xD. Oh and BTW since everfrost gives a bunch of hp and recently Riot buffed warmogs maybe it's worth going for a hybrid build? In my head I can see something like : Everfrost, Seraph, Death cap, Warmogs, Demonic embrace and boots of choice that can be traded for Cosmic drive later on. Sounds like fun ;)! P.S. I refuse to believe that Irelia has such a low win rate when she's that broken... Just 🅱️ R U H how can you even lose lane when you've got so much healing and damage + Yasuo's mobility?!

Ryze becomes very hard due to his low effective range, in theory his damage combo is simple, but when you consider the fact that you need to kite and dodge skillshots while targeting your combos against your enemies, it essentially means Ryze at least skill wise becomes harder than every single adc in the game, apart from maybe Draven or Kalista, who has similar range(The longer the range the easier kiting/positioning becomes) and has to do something other than right click to output their sustained damage. Ryze also barely has any good matchups in midlane, most frontloaded champs(assassins) just farm him if you are not extremely good at playing against them, like Zed, LB and Qiyana, while most mages has a very easy time playing against you since they outrange you pretty hard and through that laning becomes very painful where you need to know their cooldowns if you want any window to punish them and dodging everything they throw at you. Toplane is better for him atm if you play against immobile champions, but there are just so many better picks at punishing those types of champions that Ryze is a good pick into, like Jayce, Vayne, Quinn and Cassio are just so much better at making life hell for champs who only has 1 way or less to gapclose on you.

I’d only build Demonic Embrace if you’re building Liandry’s, which is generally only good into heavy health based tank comps. If you’re building Everfrost, it’d be better to replace Demonic with Rylai’s for the extra 20 AP since you’ll be going for burst over DOT

After watching this video, I tried Ryze, but instead of Phase Rush(He seems to have enough movement speed options to escape most things, except things he probably wouldn't have gotten out of anyways), I tried him with Dark Harvest because he can stack procs due to his E flux spreading to everyone and if he gets a kill, it can produce more procs. Seems to be working to great effect with Celerity and Relentless Hunter to cover some of the downsides to not having Phase Rush and I've been blowing people up quite well. I don't normally enjoy mages but seeing people's HP bars melt always gives me joy. Now I have a safer option than the champions I usually play. Thanks for the vid.
