Pretty cool to see transparency and how open you are with everything. I'm sorry youtube hasn't been working as you expected it. I hope your future plans with university goes well! I just graduated my bachelors degree a week ago so it's pretty cool to have that degree with you

@@Exiled7 so many of your videos resonate with me. I'm at that stage in life where I have to be oicky about what game I play and how long I can play it. I tend to spend more time on the PS5 dashboard/Steam Library than actually playing games lol
@Exiled7

indeed, I get that. I went through that exact thing. All I do now is just turn it on when I want to play something. A video I've wanted to make for a while now but haven't is something like a "how to enjoy games again". So I might try to work on it on the side.

@Exiled7 I also feel gaming was just more enjoyable 10 years ago. Don't get me wrong, we do have a bunch of great games that have released over the past decade, but we also have a large quantity of games which massively failed to live up to expectations.

Best life advice I ever heard was to have a job with regular income, have a hobby that brings in subsidiary money (youtube in this case) then have a hobby just for personal fun (learning an instrument, a new skill or something social, a club, sport or similar). Having the split of three things and ensuring you do all three in equal measure is good in so many ways but I've found mostly having three things prevents you mentally getting stuck on one path at it dominating your time (a rabbit hole I've then been known to fall into and get consumed by). It was about balance for me and having multiple things to juggle meant I was forcing my brain into different mental states for differing periods of time during a singular day. Fun, puzzle solving, concentration being examples then to something physical and challenging. This prevented that intensity building up to focus one one thing only and also prevented me fixating and getting so deep in something, I'd ordinarily got frustrated yet carry on anyway under the guise there would be some benefit or reward at the end. As you said in your video. With this, I'd already be onto something else before that happened. It made times where i had nothing to do filled and planned in advance. There were other benefits like i could fall asleep in 30mins not 3 hours. Other Just getting more and better quality sleep had so many positive knock-on effects . Benefits are too long to go into here but it provides a structure and one that promotes and maintains variety. That aside some personal experience from someone a bit older to anyone who's got this far, on a more general note, don't turn a hobby you love into a job as the restrictions that inevitably come with it (and a lot you didn't even consider) will make it the thing you end up hating. I don't know anyone who has done it that didn't eventually regret it. I'm pleased you are re-assessing based now on objective fact and obviously being very self-aware is a skill to harness, which will prove you good in the long run. Wishing you all the best and a great decision for you I think based on the reasoning and thought processes you've shared.

I love the transparency. A lot of things you talked about are very relatable. Being a KZbinr can be extremely stressful, with no certainty on how a video can perform, your left with anxiety and uncertainty. I know for me personally, KZbin will always be a side hustle with the opportunity to be much more but I’m not counting on that. I’m seeing where things go and I’m taking my time. I love the videos dude I’ll watch everything you put out 🤙

That is completely understandable for making changes for the amount of the videos quality is important. You are right that some people will talk alot more then what they would say in person and they can be very toxic. Having balance is important Having a part time job can help and do youtube and allow you to have less worries money but again less time as well

I hope everything works out the way you’d like it too. I really enjoy your content and looked forward to it whenever it would come out. I still will! No matter the upload schedule. If we’re being honest, there’s plenty of content added to KZbin every single day, a few less videos from you a month isn’t going to ruin anybody’s life but yours. I can see KZbin in the gaming space specifically being very hard. Not only because of the amount of gaming KZbinrs that exist, but because there’s no way to supplement your income other than videos or streaming (both of which are huge time sinks). I watch a lot of car related videos and most of those channels are shops that already have clients coming to them for work outside of KZbin. The videos they make are extra supplemental income to bring into the shop. With gaming, it’s the sole money maker. Thank you for the content you have given us. Good luck with everything to come!

Always should take a space and redial! I think KZbin, or really anything, is something you really don't know the reality of until you do it! You make incredible things and have a beautiful body of work man! It could be a hickup to a realization of content you'd want to make, another career path opening up, or anywhere in between! As you know, the skillsets you've acquired to do what we do are invaluable in itself and I genuinely think you are equipped to do anything you set out to do! I'm really happy to have had so many insightful conversations with you, share advice, and all the little gaming debates we've had over the past year or so! To whatever's next man! :D

Being a creative of any kind is extremely at odds with the modern economy. As a musician, people always ask me why I'm not trying to make it as a professional, and they don't understand what I mean when I tell them that's the last thing I would ever want. I love music, I don't want to associate it with the stress of earning money. The music that would earn money isn't the music I want to make. Go get yourself a steady 9-5, enjoy the safety and comfort of a regular income. Just be aware that a great deal of what you are stressed out over is just part and parcel of adulthood, and you are going to have to, for want of a better term, suck it up. There's always bills to pay, there's never enough time to do all the things you want to do. Compromises have to be made.

I thought about your problem with making money as a KZbinr a lot yesterday. Here are some points I think will help you. I want to write this as a separate comment because I don't anyone to confuse it with other things I said. First is the monetization methods. As far as I know, Ads are not even a reliable method in fast place. I think You need to get to a point where some brand want to sponsor you to turn it into a full time job. Things like Patreon will also help. Second is a decent amount of Royal subscribers. I mean the people who gonna watch everything you upload. I think you need to have some unique presentation style or other things to make people watch your video just because it's you regardless of the topic. Once you got there selling Merchandise will also become an option. Idk, but I always thought I need at least 100k subs to turn KZbin into my full time business. I think we really need to diversify monetization methods instead of solely relying on Ads if we are to turn this into our full time job.
@Exiled7
@Exiled7 4 ай бұрын
Yeah I do have a Patreon, I've also done ads but the amount of ads that aren't just scummy bad quality ones are hard to find when you're this size. I agree with diversifying however I would say don't think of it as needing 100k subs as that means literally nothing if only 10k of those people watch the videos. It's mainly about getting a video outside of your audience base as Adsense unless it's for videos like mine that are longer don't do particularly well monetarily.

One advice here, I can clearly see your guilt on gaming is coming from toxic "Self Improvement" environment every time I hear "Go outside, have a life". No offense but WTF bro. Having a life and going outside is completely unrelated. Mediums we love whether it's games or movies or book can give us amazing experiences that sometimes surpassed what our "REAL" life can offer. To be brutally honest, I prefer playing the games I love over having chit chat with people. Bro, There are type of people called Nerds or Introverts or Loners or whatever people like to call them who prefer staying indoors and alone. it's just who they are. Demonization of games in self improvement space is definitely harming you. It was also happened to me. Man, I'm glad that I love that space. Now, I feel no guilt in pursuing a hobby I love, which is playing games, that helped me in so many ways. Many "Self Improvement Advice" in that space are myths and mental health disasters.
@Exiled7
@Exiled7 4 ай бұрын
I'm sorry good sir but you're just wrong with your first take. It does matter when you do something that heavily brings you into being in side all the time. My feelings of guilt when playing games doesn't come from a place of wanting to leave the house more. It's more that I want to do more with my life or just that I'm not enjoying the game but can have very small moments were I do. In this instance I've been playing ghost of Tsushima and really enjoying my time with it, I'm having no guilt and I also know that in the long run I'll probably make something out of the time I've spent with the game. While I agree that some areas of self improvement are bad and cause a toxic belief around games like I've spoken about in the guilty while gaming this isn't one of them. If you lived a life for the last 18 months were you felt like you had to just keep grinding and doing the thing and that thing was only in doors meaning you hardly left the house, work on yourself physically and had little social connection I think you'd also see what the meaning behind "going outside more" and "go touch grass". I would also like to say that sure you can prefer playing games than having "chit chats" with people, but that's you, not me. I prefer having actual convocations with my friends and family over playing all day or playing loads of games. I loved my time playing red dead 2 and me and my friends have had a load of conversations about the game but fundamentally I would trade my time having played and experience with the game for fun days out or deep conversations with them. I get what you're saying but you have to remember that you are commenting on someone else's experience based on what you believe and what has worked for you which isn't going to work for everyone or most.

@@Exiled7 You got some points buddy. I was talking about my opinions the same as how you're talking about yours in the video. I'm fully aware that things like this are very subjective. It's just the word "Go outside, have a life" irritated me a bit because it sounds like people who prefer staying indoors and alone have no life. I already tried my best to socialize, touch the grass, make new friends, blah blah blah. I found my passion on cycling and travelling by doing so but I hated every single second I forced myself to socialize. Maybe it's just me being a Misfit. Also, I'm currently forced to live indoors for some reason and found out that I'm completely fine by that. if you like socializing, that's good on you. You definitely shouldn't force yourself to stay indoors and alone. Everything in this world have their own upsides and downsides. I'm just trying to say my point of the view. I also have that mindset that I need to make something out of the time I spend gaming. To be more exact, I didn't allow myself to move to a new game until i write something about the game I finished. That mindset, Instead of helping me enjoy games better, make me wasted lots of time on KZbin because I just don't have energy to write sometimes. Apart of that is me being a perfectionist when it's come to writing. I started a KZbin channel and end up cancelling one project after another. I wrote on Reddit but my account and all of my threads got removed by reddit. idk why, maybe algorithm thought they are spams. Now, I'm starting a Facebook page but still don't getting anywhere. I kinda feel like that mindset "I need to make something out of the time I spent gaming" is hurting me more than helping me. Sorry if I used wrong word. English is my second language I'm still working on it.
