I don’t know how they drive these I can barely turn a corner on clay without either traction rolling or going straight to the pipe
@fleppie753 жыл бұрын
@@thercracer1717 I think a lot has changed since I drove myself back in the 90's but I know that the sponge tires had chemical fluid on them so they would stick better on the carpet, and they did stick, great grip when used correctly.

Respect to these racers!!!!!! I've not raced 1/12th, but I have raced on carpet at various clubs in SE UK a few years back, and the focus required when racing RC is at the same level, if not higher than when racing real cars at top level. When the next car is less than 0.5 of a second behind, mistakes are not an option!

After about 15 batteries (or a couple race weekends) you would be surprised how slow it really feels. The cars have so much grip that they are very responsive and not too hard to drive. You can get into racing now (with all the Used cars for sale on websites) for only a couple hundred dollars now. Try it for yourself! :)

wait what? no reverse on these cars?
@zx81uk2 жыл бұрын
It is possible to have a reverse on the electronic speed controllers, and this was used in the early years of this R/C electric car sport, ('nitro' cars never had reverse!), however, reverse got banned because cars reversing caused many big accidents, taking reverse away solved most of the problems. Many times you will note drivers can get themselves out of the barriers by using the springy-ness of the front bumper - but at this level you have lost at least 4 places, so a barrier 'tap' once in a while is the most you can afford.

@wolfcastle84094 жыл бұрын
devotidchannel Yeh, you'd expect professional paint jobs at the worlds, do they bother with concourse anymore?
@zx81uk4 жыл бұрын
As far as I could see, there was no concourse at this 1/12th World's, some drivers did indeed have 'race paint' as opposed to 'qualifying paint'. In the A final 8 out of the 10 drivers had their own 'proper' paint jobs - only Michal Orlowski (all green) and Marc Rheinard (all white) did not.Both drivers are not really 1/12th specialists - however, if they can sniff a World Championship opportunity then who can blame them for having a go.These 2 drivers could probably have a go at almost any R/C vehicle race and come out tops. Imagine you brought 4 body shell types to the finals and make that 3 of each, = total 12 body shells, now go paint them or test car setups.

no idea what happened to the Japanese driver.
@zx81uk2 жыл бұрын
On the second final he presented his car for pre-race inspection and it was measured over the 4.2 volt limit. The rule is there to prevent over-charging the LiPo. Evidently he was warned earlier in qualifying for the same infringment. All the top drivers were suffering from being on the limit of remaining power in the battery on the closing laps - so it's not surprisong that every method possible was being used to cram in a bit more power. With a bigger japanese team around him possibly this fault could have been spotted sooner, but rules is rules and I have to presume he could not produce another legally charged battery quickly enough to get to the race start on time. If he had been allowed to get away with it, the other 9 drivers would have liked to cram in a little more power just the same.

You could see Olly Jefferies was annoyed by that, he tried so hard, in fact he must have bust a gut trying so hard, simple fact is he made those finals that bit more special and memorable. The rush you feel from the top 4 or 5 cars travelling around that circuit so close, really glad I took the chance to be there. At about lap 30 the, the effect of him and Marc Rheinard driving down the straight, that close and at that speed set the crowd on fire. He should be proud of that. Fact is Michal Orlowski, Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa and Marc Rheinard all had a small edge on him.
