"Trauma is a hurting experience which cuts you off from yourself. Disconnects you from your authentic self." - Gabor Maté So every time you punch that time clock for a job that you hate and you have to stay there for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week just in order to survive... What is that? Is that not continuous repetitive trauma? And we wonder why we have rampant depression, anxiety and addictions in this society.

Strangepete Plutocratic Oligarchy, its the economic system by which trauma maintains the masses in order. In other words pure evil is how USA and many other couture treat 99% of their populations. Chattel, the poor and middle class are merely a means to maintaining imbalance.

Addictions do more than just ruin. I appreciate that under the auspices of the current legal and health organization systems addictions are seen purely and equivocally as negative. Gabor states there was Massive relief from ones trauma in the use drugs of addiction. Individuals state this fact in this video. our country is set up to keep the poor in poverty and to control the middle class by fear of poverty.

Addicts are grown in the womb. Right Gabor. Parents can’t parent bc they were traumatized by their parents and so on and so on. It’s a rabbit hole. I wish Gabor was my dad.

Gabor Mate is full of wisdom but in this video he appeared condescending. Am I the only one who sensed his contemptuous attitude towards Alfried.

M Humaikani I totally agree with you.

Completely agree. He appeared "existentially defensive".

I love Mate’s work but he did seem defensive and condescending. I don’t think he is use to being challenged.
