This is my favorite video just because I see almost more than half pro mma fighters that could evolve there stand up with this but end up looking like 15 yr olds exchanging wildly in there first stand up fight, but thats why we are all awesome in our own style, some pick up others that work in fights diffrent ways and some have bin taught since birth.
@fizicstv534210 жыл бұрын
Cody Miller Actually couldnt agree more. Many great strikers in the UFC lack basic boxing fundamentals. But also, you have to remember not every striker in the UFC uses boxing at all. Muay thai is really the main striking martial art in the UFC and in Mauy thai there is very little head and lateral movement at all. Instead they use counter striking with leg kicks, catching shots, deflecting with the forearm, and follow up with body kicks to defend against strikes.
@elixthirst10 жыл бұрын
Indeed, I think its a tough and brutal outcome when a true boxer meets a muay thai striker in MMA. Muay thai guy has elbows from hell, But the boxer has Hooks with more reach but the Muay thai has longer reach with his kicks then the boxers jabs, But the boxer has the ability to slip those kicks and get inside but inside they have elbows, but a great Martial Artist picks up everything and crams it into his own style IMO like I try to do. I practice alot of leg checking just because low kicks hurt like baseball bats when they connect

I think you are the best breakdown guy on you-tube. I train mma and I have really working on foot work my boxing. I tend to be flat footed so this a video that helped me a lot especially in sparing. This a major tool that I have working on adding to my overall game. I spar a lot of boxers in the gym do you have any videos that would help someone to nullify the defense of a Philly shell fighter. I find that I get the most success in countering as he is opens up and starts to punch. also I can land the over hand right some times as he backs up. just like the mma fight with tj dillashaw vs renan barao. but its hard to land once they become aware of it.
@PrecisionBoxing10 жыл бұрын
lastrosenfeld you are smart to throw when they are throwing. Another good tactic is the double over hand right as you step to their left side. So you would go double jab, overhand right, overhand right. watch the third round here, this is similar to what Maidana does - Ricardo Mayorga vs. Vernon Forrest I (part 2 of 2)
@PrecisionBoxing10 жыл бұрын
lastrosenfeld another is right hook to the body behind the lead arm, similar to Sugar Ray against Mayweather Sr.

Awesome video, very informative and broken down. Sorry for the consistent bombardment of questions, but do you already have a video where you go more in-depth on the duck unders (bob and weave) after a punch? Also do you have any tips when it comes to ducking under/bob and weaving to the opposite side of a executed punch. Ducking under the same side of an executed punch feels way more fluid than ducking under to the opposite side of the punch, but I wouldn't want to become predictable in sparring or competition by always ducking under the same side of the executed punch. So when it comes to ducking under to the OPPOSITE side of the punch does it pretty much just involve shoulder rotation/shrugging and shifting those hips?
@PrecisionBoxing9 жыл бұрын
Chance Cottle Ducking under the same side is very natural, it can also be predictable. Here is another video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHOQkmCanpeUas0 I also have instructional videos that really break things down if you are interested - www.precisionstriking.ca/shop/
