Went through almost exactly the same process as you today, except I added an extra step where i tried counting the dots. I think this is my favourite puzzle so far this year.

I enjoyed this puzzle a lot! I think it really helped us that we were three people. We each had a different insight and were able to put them together to figure it out pretty efficiently. It's definitely different when you do a puzzle like this on your own. You have to go back (just like you did) to see if there were things you didn't notice. Great job working through this one solo!

Also didn't notice the dots on the bows, regardless of the multiple hints (in the story text, and the dominos on the door). The wife immediately saw them, leading us to the solution quckly. Great sovle, Gareth

Ah, I never made the connection with the dots on the dominos! I idly wondered why they were there. Great observation!

Did you note that in the story they mention "polka dot bows"? I solved this puzzle myself but only after then watching your video did I note that.

No, I forgot about that - although I reckon that would actually discourage me from considering the dots as anything other than decoration! :)

When you noticed the dots you "connected the dots" (I'll see myself out) pretty fast. It took me some time to figure out what to do with the dots. The dominos when you open the room misdirected me pretty good.

I missed the different numbers on the bows. I waited for your video and stopped watching when you discovered the numbers. Just finished drawing the numbers myself and got the correct code. Phew! That was tricky.

Glad it wasn't just me! :) I wondered after finishing recording whether I would have seen them right away if solving 'normally', because I have to have my desk really dark so I don't get reflections - and there is a camera arm between me and the screen so I can't directly see chunks of the picture while solving - so it's interesting to hear that you had the same issue anyway. Probably didn't make any difference for me then. ;)

Your initial solution would have meant once you figure out which pieces are involved in each puzzle you wouldn’t have to solve the spatial part at all. The second part made that worthwhile/needed and made sense in the end 😊

Oh, you're absolutely right! Yes, that didn't make sense at all to just count the bows. Nor did my initial explorations which didn't use the toys! I think I was slow on this one. :)
