I remember being a 21 year old pioneer back when it was 1000 hours per year. I was supporting myself working as a janitor at the time for an elder. With no warning the elder fired me because his elder friend wanted a job. So that month I was so stressed out with anxiety looking for work to pay my rent, that I was only able to get 54 hours in for the month. A different elder made me feel like garbage that I didn't get more time in so I quit the pioneer work. That same elder called me stupid for doing that. (he wasn't even a pioneer) And now it's only 50 hours a month to be a pioneer! UGH! Also I did start my own cleaning business and secured a grocery store contract to clean at night, and the same elder that fired me prior came in and underbid my contract so I lost that account! The best thing that ever happened to me was waking up, getting out and finding my freedom. So happy I was out by the time I was 25. Lost years for sure, but so many others had it far worse.

How archaic is this shit? My kids are now 24 & 29 and my husband was constantly doing things for the 'congregation' besides his career and so I was left to almost EVERYTHING! Raise our kids, including homeschool them. Which I felt pressured to do, even though I worked full time myself, running my own cleaning business and had employees. Cleaning our house, doing all the grocery shopping, cutting the grass, taking out the garbage, the gardening, running the kids to anything they did with friends or family. Wally you nailed it on this video. At 1:36 she picks out the Pyramidology SITS vol 6. They praise watchtower for the adjustments in time for pioneering( 8:11 ), like the recent changes of pants, beards, disfellowshipping. God cares nothing about those things. 18:50 they don’t know about the women found in adultery in the Bible, John 8:1:11, because it has been removed by Watchtower. Johns message of forgiveness and judge lest you be judged, is lost on watchtower and its followers.

Idk why they didn't have him say my delivery. Because, every person who gets on that platform is given an outline or told what to say by higher ups. Nobody is doing any teaching on their own. But I liked how added in that the outlines are the same old tired messages that the audience has heard for generations. Just nit picking. But I thought it was interesting that they had him say my teaching as to convey some sort of individualism when guys give talks. I think it's on purpose.

@annemarie195532 ай бұрын
Bobbie Lee, Watchtowerites are heavily programmed to believe that only THEY "know the Bible," and they are programmed to believe that EVERYTHING Watchtower preaches, teaches, and prophesies is TOTALLY based upon the Holy Scriptures. How??? Watchtower cleverly "sets up" a person with a clear scenario or picture 🖼️ in their mind, and then presents a "cherry-picked" scripture or two that appears to support whatever they are being taught to believe, even if later that "truth" changes. In other words, the Watchtower Cult disrespects God's Word so much that they have not only changed and rearranged it many times over the years as to more support their current doctrine, but in indoctrinating their followers, they will manipulate God's Word so as to make it appear to "back up" their lies, false prophecies, and twisted "truth." It is truly a sad and disgusting thing. And these poor, programmed people are so heavily indoctrinated to believe that only by following, serving, obeying, and being loyal to the Watchtower Organization will they have God's approval that they will do whatever Watchtower tells them to do...even to the point of allowing their own child to bleed to death, or to disown their own mother, brother, grandparent, or child if they ever leave "God's" organization; yes, they will do all these things and more in the name of "Loyalty to Jehovah." 😢 Watchtower is not only a true CULT, but they destroy lives, tear families apart, break up marriages, and they have routinely dismissed children who have been molested by JW Pedophiles, warned them to keep their mouths shut while protecting the pedophiles among them...and all the while they tell their trusting followers that the ugly truth about Watchtower is all just "lies from Satan spread by 'wicked apostates' who have 'left Jehovah'," aka, The Watchtower Organization. Heartbreaking how tricked and deceived and how grossly these people are manipulated, and all the while Watchtower is pressuring them to give them more and more MONEY 🤑, and to be sure to leave them their assets and properties when they die. Disgusting. 😮

Ive been out so long that when she said "Mary" helped her, (lol @Gonzalez 🤣) my ears perked up, but turns out it was back to the video for an "example". My own spiritual journey away from the Witnesses has been full of twists and turns, but its funny to look back and realize how void they are of deep spiritual meaning. If most people today told me Mary helped them, even in a metaphorical sense I'd understand it on a deeper level as in, 'support from my ancestors' or a sense of love and compassion from the universe, but JWdom always strips away that aspect and turns it into a "practical lesson" and i find that very lonely, in all the examples really. Like there's a spiritual disconnect. One i didnt see when i was in, or even for many years later when i realized i could connect with just about any religious background from the standpoint of a universal love that JWs dont acknowledge at all and i realize when i have face to face conversations with them similar to these, we are speaking the same words, but a different language.

Your point about literacy totally debunks the idea that god used the written word to reveal his will and requirements. Even today, there are many millions who are illiterate. Direct personal experience with the Source of All is so much better 🙂

I'm sure you've answered this before, but for an active non-pioneer, hour many hours a week are you generally expected to spend on church-related activities between meetings, preparing for meetings, home worship, reading Watchtower periodicals, witnessing, etc.?
@CoffeeAddictEvan2 ай бұрын
You're expected to "give your best," which basically means as many hours as possible, and then some. Before last October, to be considered active you had to get at least one hour knocking on doors during the month, 15 minutes if you're considered infirm. To be "in good standing," you had to get at least usually 10 hours a month. Plus 2 weekly meetings, that you're expected to arrive early at and stay late, plus many people drive over 30 minutes each way to attend, which translates to 6-8 hours/week. We used to spend at least 3 hours "studying" for each meeting. And then there's Family Worship Evening, which is another 1-3 hours. That's a minimum 17.5 hour weekly commitment plus travel time, just to be "in good standing," and doesn't include time spent getting dressed, planning meals, or preparing for special assignments.

One more note about the literacy of Mary is that women were the absolute least likely in every setting to be able to read, to be allowed to study scripture even if there was a written version available.

16:20 (the scene where the Mom is struggling to get the teenaged son to study in the husband’s absence) Son: “What is there to GET? This is pretty simple stuff.” Truest statement in a WT video ever. You just know the teens in the audience picked up on THAT concept.

Which church are preaching the gospel of the kingdom around the world to all nations as Jesus Christ said? Matthew 10:16, 24:14, 28:19-20, Mark 13:10, if not only only only the Jehovah's witnesses..

In fact, the Watchtower reminds me of the world we live in. The same model in a miniaturized sphere. A small world within a bigger one. In this world, if you express the slightest doubt about an event, if you question media discourse and dominant thinking and the lobbies that accompany them, you are a dangerous "conspirator". And so you are an outcast, you are pushed aside.

Psychological manipulating and indoctrination includes following a script, just like the movies and ads you see on TV. God sure needs your money. He can't survive without it.

It’s so nice not to be hanging around people anymore who feel the need to give bullshit council for the volunteer work your doing. When I got “counseled” by a dad of some high energy kids for being silly with them , I understood that I don’t belong there. Specifically because I thought this dude an overbearing idiot with his kids and for this guy to think he had some kind of higher position to tell me that his version of destroying the joy of his children was something I should also be doing because god said so. Well, that was the end of my relationship with that guy pretty much. He was no longer a safe space. The whole of watchtower is not a safe space unless your a drone

How long was the convention? @0.51, with the initial "don't worry about thinking, because we will tell you how to think about the information", has that not always been the case? From what I have read and seen through friends and some general research. @7.38, OK thanks for kinda answering my above question. @16.00, Oh there's the darn patriarchy again. Risking his income, to be present with his family...because of the nagging wife, who wants him to help with the chores, rather than playing a video game. Poor husband. The poor kids in high school though. The reason you likely felt it was like a children's show, is probably because of the condescending tone of voice and attitude. It almost feels like the writers were thinking. oh "hey, let's put modern issues like dating and video games in so the kids in the congregation can relate, and have a fellow teen, telling him the right answers." Right because we say it's right. Apologies if that offends people- I was just analysing the video, as I would analyse a piece of drama, poetry or books in English class at school. I used to act/ assistant director, in school, and evening classes outside of my university degree subjects in "psychology and another one in healthcare and science." Also did a little community theatre and university classes online, while working a long time ago. That doesn't mean I am trying to boast about my accomplishments...I think it's probably best to stop digging a hole for myself explaining! Sorry.

They always say worldly people are unhappy but the witnesses in these videos are constantly fighting inner demons and are clearly having conflicts with what to believe but the worldly people are the unhappy ones. I’m even more happy now that I left so what does that make me? Explain that watch tower

I once had an older man and his partner, a much younger fellow knock on my door. This was waay back in the mid nineties in Sacramento, California. I didn't let on that i was raised in a JW family. But after i let them go thru their opening introduction. I quuickly mention some of their beliefs being heretical. I (being a history nerd) started listing those errors and letting them know when the early church condemned these beliefs as heresy. They panicked😅 They said they would come back with another brother who was supposedly knowledgeable in history. They never came back👍You really have to be ignorant to fall for the nonsense doctrine the JW's peddle.
