thats my question to, im debating between the 1100kv and the 800kv but i dont know wich one to choose
@Collyne07 Жыл бұрын
The answer you’re looking for is torque. The 800kv motor is purpose built for 1:5 scale, but you have the option of putting it in the xmaxx which is closer to 1:6 scale - they will both “move out” insanely quick. The lower the “Kv” rating the more torque the motor has. Which means that it requires more skill with throttle and steering inputs. Hope this helps.

Ok,so I need some help understanding this as I want to get an 1100kv motor too. The 8s speed gearing is 18/46(mod 1) to achieve a theoretical 50+mph. I use a gearing calculator for the xmaxx and mini max and it has been spot on, it guesses the "18/46" to go 49.19 mph. But when I calculate your gearing 25/35 mod1.5 (when translated to mod 1 is equivalent to 38/54) it says you should be going 76mph(all numbers given 8s packs at peak 33.6v)! When I first thought this one out I was going to use a 22/46 mod1 which calculated to be about 52mph. Where did I go wrong as this is the only car out of about 30 I have used this on and it has always worked!?!?
@ExocagedRC3 жыл бұрын
You’re not wrong at all on that. The thing is rolling resistance, grass and wind plus when the front comes up the center diff gives a bit and it runs slower. The biggest gains from this is raw power. Backflips and just a more powerful fun factor.

I’ve installed this exact 1100kv motor with the max5 esc. I drive 35t mod 1 pinion and 50t hardened spur gear. This setup eats diff gears (#7791 and #7792) I have had two sets of stock rear diff demolished within one battery pack. Punch level is set on 1 and I drive very carefully. The traxxas x-maxx diffs are not made for this kind of power. I now use hardened diff pinion and crown wheel. But how is your experience with the stock diffs and this setup?
@ExocagedRC5 жыл бұрын
Niene Pro wow I’ve not had those issues. Mine is also set on 1 punch now and the stock 8s Diff gears have done fine except for one really stupid short landing full throttle. That killed the internal spider gears but the ring and pinion survived. Broken a few drive cups like most anyone. Right now this truck has a 800kv HW motor with a 43t pinion and a 54t plastic spur. Sounds crazy but so far it’s living and also way quieter than the metal mod 1.5 gears.

5687 is the size , right. That's a huge motor. I'd put a couple of fans on there like your buddy recommended. I haven’t had much respect for companies like Hobbywing because there's alot of reverse engineered technology taken from Tekin and Castle and Holmes-Hobbies(as I say this two additional servo's hit the market that are took'n from the direct power SHV500 servo). But in the last year or two it seems they have really been trying to distance themselves from that stuff and really "upped" their game. The 1/8th Holmes-Hobbies 4274S Puller Pro is the biggest motor I have at the moment....it has a 1/6th size rotor/magnet. I put it in my TRX4 so it'll never see its full potential. But HEY!!...it I ever want to go 50+ in my TRX4 , all I'd have to is gear-up and throw in a 5 or 6s.
@ExocagedRC5 жыл бұрын
yeah it seems there are an unusually high amount of rebrands and and knockoffs as of late, I'm pretty sure the JX46kg servo I have are the same as the G13 which as I've been told is a rebrand of the Holmes SHV. Maybe I should do some servo teardown videos and get a look at whats inside them. I would hope that Hobbywing is big enough now to not need to rebrand anything, hopefully this isn't the case with the new motors. I can tell your 100% for sure the new 800kv is not a rebrand of the castle....yes a teardown video of them is in the works.
@tomlucasrccrawlers91085 жыл бұрын
@@ExocagedRC That would be cool to see.
@outkast1875 жыл бұрын
Holmes is a rebrand itself. Hobbywing is superior to tekin and castle. If you doubt it...run each a year and compare. Hw will be sportless inside, tekin will need 4 rotors. Hw is the king.
@tomlucasrccrawlers91085 жыл бұрын
@@outkast187 You do know that 90% of Holmes motors are built and handwound and assembled "in house"...brushed and brushless motors. The cheap closed-bell motors are built out of USA but built to John Holmes specs. The only thing that would be considered a rebrand would be the BR-XL...it's essentially an old Mamba Max Pro 6s. John puts his little tweaks on it , of course. Hobbywing is a decent company but most their tech is reverse engineered China stuff. It's old tech. Holmes motors , especially the Puller Pro, Revolver, TorqueMaster Pro, TorqueMaster Magnum and Crawlmaster Pro motors are THE top quality/power/torque and smoothness in the world. Castle and Tekin motors are about equal and a step down. Hobbywing isn't at the bottom of the spectrum but are below Holmes-Hobbies, Castle and Tekin...not only in quality but in power/torque. You can be a huge fan of Hobbywing(lots are because of affordability) , that's fine but facts are facts.

Hi All - I’m working on an outboard boat motor where the manufacturer recommends a Turingy 3948/4 1100KV brushless that would fit under the cowl. The motor is from China - virus - can’t get it anymore. Can someone please suggest a replacement with low end speed for scale like cruise speed on a 37 inch Sport Fisherman boat - I’m fitting it with two outboards. Not looking for a high end RPM motor. Much Appreciated !

ok if heat is an issue and you want a solid 8s 50mph truck you gotta go with the big 800kv, they simply run harder and stay cooler than any other motor out there. You can pick up a fan from Sean Larmond if you want and a mod 1.5 gearset from B&M RC Racing, I'd recommend going with the 30/35 ratio I tested with the 800kv. Runs great and doesn't cause many issues. I have a 1750kv sitting here waiting for the mount from B&M to get here, its only rated to 6s so 8s may be an issue, but yes I will 8s it for sure.
