The cracking you are hearing in the ceiling is from the heat beating down on the metal roof and the wood it's heating the wood up to where it starts to crack if you were to get ventilation going from one side of the peak of the building to the other side you would not hear crack

The tolerance of the metal after being foamed in probably is causing it to pop. metal is heating faster than foam and is basically loosening past the other plates. only thing thats gonna fix that is cutting reliefs in the joints and adding more screws to pin down the metal outside. NOT worth doing. just live with it and keep music playing when you work. Love your videos btw.
@camodragon092 жыл бұрын
BUMP so he sees this. It's not worth worrying about, it's a normal process of a metal building. There are options to address it if you have to (a drop attic, slits, etc); but there is nothing WRONG with your building. Enjoy it, and gratz on 600k!!
@alpinetype98R2 жыл бұрын
Extra bump, was just going to say this. Even with extra screws there's a chance of you still hearing it. Depending on how much sun it gets throughout the day, it could even buckle harder and louder being fastened any more than it is. Either way I agree with it not being worth it.

The popping sound is most likely your metal roofing heating up and expanding at a different rate with it being closed foam sprayed.
@perlyg2 жыл бұрын
thats it, or the wood expanding as well

It's going to pop like that weather it's insulated or not. Metal expands as it heats up. It's nothing to worry about.
@jayfitmob86452 жыл бұрын
The temperature of the building getting warmer as the sun rises will cause the metal to expand. Any wood also will expand and contract with humidity and temperature. Your building is just breathing 🤙

the sound: its thermal expansion, the metal roof heats up with the sun, then then foam has to give, but it moves at a different rate, your roof foam will probably get little cracks in it over time, no worries, but probably will start to calm down after a few seasons. :)

Just recently started watching you. I was a basshead back in the early 90s. Wow it's amazing how much it's changed. I remember my first experience was at a local radio shack. Rockford Fosgate had a van with 4 18s and several punch 1000 amps. I was taken away at how hard it hit. They were playing DJ Magic Mike " Feel the Bass". I never had a huge setup. I was rocking 2 12" kicker comps with a punch 75 ran mono and a punch 45 pushing my mids and highs. I built my own boxes to spec. Learned a bit from my uncle that's a carpenter. Watching your channel has definitely reignited my passion for it. I hope to get another bumping system in my car. It's so cool to see all the success you are having doing something you love. Looking forward to watching you grow and hit that 1 mil. I'll let all know that's curious my progress when I get my new system started. Things definitely cost a bit more than they used to lol. Thanks for all the awesome content!

It’s the metal expanding and contracting because of your spray foam insulation If you drop down the ceiling and put an attic in with blown in insulation on top of that you’ll be fine that’s what we had to do to our metal shop

Hey EXO! Long time follower, thanks for constantly sharing your journey. I'm happy I get to do it with you. To comment on the workshop contracting, I worked at a movie theater in Phoenix and the duct work would contract every night when the ac turned off. It honestly sounded like Christmas hams in a dryer. Eventually I just came up with various made up explanations for the sounds and it really helped not drive me crazy. I made it into a game. Maybe a new association with it will help. Godspeed!

Exo, looks like you might have gained a bit of muscle! And I'd say your hearing that noise because the spray foam can translate sounds through the roof, any flexing or say branches dragging on it would transfer through
@briandacus22352 жыл бұрын
It's the metal heating and expanding. They all do it. Once building starts to settle a little, it will quiet down some, but will still do it.
@Mooseslife2 жыл бұрын
I took screenshots in your video of the wheels before and after the load was removed. Honestly I could t tell the difference in ride height though I am sure it did rise. Measure it now and then again after the install. As far as your building noise. If it was built with non pressure treated lumber you will get that noise as the building heats up and cools down.
@baronvonfritz2 жыл бұрын
Its just thermal expansion of the metal. Happens with wood too. Really only way to eliminate it is to fully finish the space with drywall, more insulation, especially on the ceiling. Give up all that internal volume, and money, just to make the popping noises quieter. Just turn the music up, eventually, you'll tune it out and wont even notice it after a year.

We have doors like that at my work. Each room is an actual enviormental chamber of its own. With a corner exhausy to goes to the roof of the building. I work in a chassis lab for emissions testing. Those pops are definatly related to the doors and changes in pressure. I E heat from the sun or a certain draft due to some boards being lifted off the ground ever so slightly could be a an issue. Maybe some peieces of wood that can wedged and wood glued could help for many 5 or more years. Keep up with the vids. Ive been watching you grow since 2012 man. Been a ride and a blast. Keep the projects + many side projects going!!! Till the next time

Took the words right out of my mouth. It's really bad if you live in the south. Sun comes out, especially in the summer time and you will hear your roof pop. Sometimes it'll do it if it gets cold enough fash enough. But his problem seems to be the heat causing the wood/metal to pop. Nothing to worry about homie!!
@MSW-uf5zu2 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what i would do. can also insulate that new ceiling to keep down noise and help hold in the heat/ac of that mini split system too as a bonus
