@T Aharon Nothing bad about the binding, I think the pickups aren't doing it the favor. If everything was the same, but the pickups were black, the guitar would then be gourgous. Still, if someone wants to send me one for free, I'll have absolutely no complaints, I would think it's the prettiest guitar in history of wooden instruments and I'll be the happiest man on earth.

Gary was using the engl savage on the Exhibit B album, Tempo was a langner modded 800, the subsequent albums used a 6l6 peavey triple x with a presonus eq in front.

When Gary used the xxx in the studio he used a Randall xl cab and on tour I believe he used either a Marshall or engl cab. Also he used el34 tubes for the studio and 6l6s on tour

Gotta say Gary Holt is by far one of my favorite guitarists. His riffs have rivaled anything the “Big Four” have ever done. My picks for that list would have be Exodus, Testament, Nuclear Assault and then yes Anthrax. Being 45 I’ve listened to all their albums and those for have just been constant in their releases. Just my opinion. I know not many will agree with me and that perfectly fine.

For tempo they used his lagner modded marshall into t75s for shovel they used the peavey XXX with t75s for exhibit A they used the peavey again with v30 for exhibiz b they used the engl savage with a presonus eq for the latest album blood in blood out they used the marshall again with v30s for their new record they are using the modded marshall and the jubilee with an eq and od the neck pickup 89R is not because red but because reversed meaning the single coil is closer to the neck

Actually the R in 89R means that when the coil split is engaged, the closest coil to the neck is selected compared to the regular 89 where the closest coil to the bridge is selected

I bought an EC-1000 last year and it came with the EMG 57/66TW set and I ended up changing them out for the classic 81/60 set. They just sound way better to my ears than the 57/66.

89R as in REVERSE. the split coils are reversed so you have the single coil in the neck.

The EMG 89R is actually one of their coil-splittable pickups, but the R means they switched the position of the single coil in the pickup so that the 89R goes in the neck position rather than the Bridge where the 89 is meant to go.

I have the exact same problem with my EC256 - it doesn’t stay on my leg very easily when playing seated. Other than that I love it. ESP for the win. It’s a far better guitar then any Epiphone by a very long way.

Would love some day to see a video of Ola trying out the EMG 577/66 TW that have 3 coils so it can be a single coil and a humbucker in the same housing they even have a 7 string version. I've used the base 57/66 set in my own guitars and love them. WOuld be really interest to see Ola's thoughts as the active pickup game is hot with Fishman in the mix now days too.

i think the biggest thing with gary's tone is the positioning of his hand for palm muting which is further from the bridge than normal, hence the really scratchy choked tremolo picking. i liked the one on Exhibit A the best with the Seymour Duncan SH-5 into Triple X but Tempo, Fabulous Disaster and Exhibit B sound great too

I have had the Gary Holt V-1 from Schecter and it too had the same color scheme. TBH I just couldn't handle the red pickups and switched them out for the James Hetfield HETSET from EMG. Not only is it a better sounding pickup set, the black nickle with one row of exposed magnets gave it a sick af look. The red binding was then perfect by itself. Love that guitar.
