For those who don't know, Exodus is a new IP developed by former BioWare devs who worked on the Mass Effect games.

That explains it. I looked it up and it sounds a lot like Mass Effect Andromeda. Interested in what it'll be like.

That's teenager for you... in real life, sometimes they wouldn't look back until they were a successful businessperson, sometimes until they were alone and broke on the side of the road, sometimes when they have 4 children and no partner... sometimes their parents have to drag their body inside a bodybag... i guess in the world of interstellar travel, this scenario is the most likely one

Exodus is a new game that hasn't released yet. It is being developed by a lot of the talent that left Bioware several years ago and worked on the original Mass Effect games. It is looking to be VERY good but we'll see. I'm very optimistic about it.

Since the show doesn't dive into the lore this is the backstory... Earth, is dying do to war and gross neglect. A fleet of Arkships is constructed and launched. Over a period of 200 years the solar system is completely abandoned. There is no known form of FTL, so the Arkships take melinia to travel across the Galaxy. Some of the Arkships reach the Centauri Cluster. There they find hundred of habitable worlds. They send the green signal(hey ya'll come live here, its sweet and cash). It takes centuries for the signal to reach the surviving Arkships scattered across the galaxy. Then, depending on how close they were, centuries to melinia for those ship to begin heading towards the Centauri Cluster, let alone arrive; there are still Arkships arriving in the modern day of the game's. Unfortunately, humans being human, human things up. War comes to the Centauri Cluster as the many human colonies fight for dominance. The earliest humans to arrive in the Centauri Cluster. Through natural adaptation and deliberate genetic engineering transform themselves, to the point of inhumanity. They Collectively call themselves the Celestials. The most powerful Celestials Dominion the Elohim. Construct the "Gates of Heaven" to link the Centauri Cluster. They impose a code of conduct and rules of war. Then they leave... No one Knows why they left or where they went. The other Celestials Dominions are so scared of the Elohim that they still refuse to break their rules. The Celestials care little for the arriving humans, at best treating them like special needs children that need to managed for their own good and worst death.. Given the past history of catastrophic, world devastating wars. The Centauri Cluster is covered in the ruins of dead empires. Some of arrived humans desperate to survive and be free of Celestial dominance. Take their chances and explore those ruins, hoping to steal tech and mateials that they cannot produce. These are the Travelers. ... Yes, that was the short version.

Sorry, but that man buried a stranger. His daughter died the moment she left the planet. She robbed him of getting to see her grow as a person, a lifetime of love. No grandkids, his friends back on the planet all dead, but at least she had her fun. She didn't even say goodbye. Also no she did do well on her own she literally had to be saved by her dad multiple times without knowing about it. And the last time he sees her, she's old as hell and immediately dies. He didn't become a traveler at the end for adventure, he did it because he has nothing and noone left.

@SacredHeart1813 сағат бұрын
@@txt5220 I don’t think that’s the issue. It’s the way she left that’s the issue, at least for me. She ran away from home with essentially a stranger, with no guarantee to ever go back. If her father had never decided to go after her, I assume that she was prepared for the possibility of returning to his gravestone. If he had never gone after her, he likely would have always wondered whether she was okay, alive or dead, or was able to find happiness. I really did like this episode, but I have to admit that I was upset/sad for the father (and a bit for the daughter because she lost time with him). To have to bury your child that has aged beyond you and you never got the chance to see them into adulthood is… heartbreaking to me. In some ways it reminds me of Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”.

One thing preventing me from enjoying this episode. The explanation of near light travel doesn't make sense to me. What is the point of near light travel if it's slower than normal travel? If they're both using near light travel, she shouldn't have aged as much. If only he's using it, he should arrive at her destination before her, not after she's already lived on it and left. IF IT MAKES SENSE, there's something the episode left out that explains it. Without that piece of information, i can't enjoy the episode. Edit: I understand how time dilation works. This isn't my first sci-fi story. We're told (and I accept that) Nik's trip was one year for him, but 8 years for Mari. My issue is with Mari's first trip. How long was it for her to get to Scotia? If she traveled at near light, how long was it for Nik? This is the basis of my entire problem.
@highlander3152718 сағат бұрын
You're confusing a year at near lightspeed for a year on a planet. Also, we have no idea how long Mari spent not traveling, just living on a planet. Mari wasn't constantly traveling. At 99.3% the speed of light, a month for you is a year for anyone else not currently moving at the same speed. It would take Nik two years but Mari would age twenty if she stayed in the same place. But Mari didn't. She may have spent five or six years on a planet before moving on, requiring Nik to age a year at near lightspeed to get there too late, as the actual time to get there in real time would be over ten years.
@Dell-ol6hb18 сағат бұрын
I don't really get what you're saying about near light-speed travel being slower than normal travel? But I believe the reason she is aging faster than him is because she is in a faster ship than him so she gets to her destination faster than he can and since she is relic hunting she could spend years on a single planet excavating out of time dilation while her father is still traveling at near light speed and aging much slower than her. Then by the time he makes it to where she was, she's already left to another world and this repeats over and over again to the point where she is basically as old as her father, if not older.
@k9commander18 сағат бұрын
@highlander31527 I don't think you understand what I'm confused about. Let's try to make this as simple as possible. When Mari first left, what kind of travel did she use?
@ThriceGreatHermes-c6p17 сағат бұрын
I can explain it. Momentum and the experience of time are related. Though the phenomenon is only noticeable when you near lightspeed. A trip one light years distance, at near light speed will take little over a year . However the person traveling at near light speed. Will themselves only experience a fraction of the year of travel. I do not know what the ratio is. Nick first worked as a technician on a merchant ship,then indentured to Celestials couldn't travel exactly when and where he wanted. That is how Mari got so far ahead of her father
@SaiyanHeretic16 сағат бұрын
People actually liked this one? More power to you, I guess, but I was bored as shit. imho if your short film needs a ton of narration, then maybe you shouldn't be trying to write a SHORT film 🤨
