There's a reason you only see this shit in video games. If it were affordable and practical the military would already be using them. But they would be both expensive and inefficient. Civilians never consider heat and the fatigue. Heat is an infantrymans worse enemy. Even just in training I've seen many men lose consciousness, have seizures, get brain damage etc. From heat. Almost died myself once... and that was with less shit on than this. It doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal to Civilians but that's because Civilians never put on 3 layers of clothes and carry 100 pounds in the summer heat walk 15 miles. It feels like your internal organs are cooking inside you, one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life lol. And a decent amount do die from it. You just never hear about it

Why not? When you can do all of that in full medieval plate armor, jumping jacks included. He can walk around and move reasonably normal, of course he can go prone and stand up again. Is it sensible to do that? That depends on the situation and the use case for it.

@@mephisto8101medieval armor won’t stop a rifle round
@mephisto8101
@mephisto8101 7 ай бұрын
@@Nach0s187 That absolute statement does not stand. If you talk about modern rifle rounds, then most likely a medieval breast plate is not protective. However, when firearams first came up they didn't pack the punch they had a century or two later. In these days it was very common for armorers to test the effectiveness of their plate by shooting it. There are lots of armor pieces still around from these times, where the armorer has done test shots on it and the plate has a sigil on it that this specific piece was able to hold a bullet. ("Beschusstest") However, technology for firearms quickly progressed and what was true in 1500 was no longer valid in 1700. Firearms became much more potent in this time and had better abilities to penetrate armor. Hence, we see a reduction in armor protection in latter times due to the progression of effectiveness of firearms.

Usual concerns about how much of a tradeoff there is between mobility and protection, and from what kind of weapons. Most modern body armour (not ballistic shields) can really only take a handful of hits before it's not useful anymore, so this needs to grant the wearer the same flexibility and speed as a soldier in a flak vest, but much better protection. If this slows the wearer to the extent they can be easily targetted by repeated fire, it becomes useless.

This sort of tech MIGHT be viable in 10-15 years. It's still very far away and might be an obsolete idea by the time something like this could ever be viable to begin with. I think flying drones are going to get smaller and more versatile with more sensors and be able to do 90% of the fighting and DB-type robotics will do a good portion of the logistics and handling, while driverless vehicles do the shipping. The only human element will be someone sitting comfortably behind a controller at a base back home, commanders, IT engineers and technicians, ordinance systems specialists, and command. The battlefield will mostly be robots dispatching humans that are part of a regime/military/rebellion that do not have access to robotics tech and support. Of course this is a slippery slope into allowing the wrong person to handle such autonomous power, but that is what checks and balances are for. I don't believe something like terminator's skynet could ever exist outside of scifi. As someone that works around this industry, I see a far brighter future where less harm comes to humans due to automation, conflicts are solved much faster with less bloodshed, humans are more free to do positive things for themselves and the world with access to UBI, socialized healthcare, robotics, and AI that can supplement an entire team helping you get through your day. The people wishing to exploit this system simply can't due to the complexity of human-involved support, isolated proprietary programming, and a logistical network that is run by AI that can't be influenced by any malicious outside data. We already have systems like this in place, and they are getting safer and better in every way, literally everyday. We have seen nothing but positives from these systems, even seeing drones being far more effective as a fighting force with better precision and an allowance of mercy. Russians in Ukraine waving the white flag and being taken into custody, dangerous criminals backed into a corner being hit with less than lethal and pepper spray by a robot to get them into a position to be put into custody, and of course these systems being used for non-violence. Such as removing slave-wage jobs, taking up jobs that are dangerous and damaging to the human body, and menial tasks that create incredibly important data to analyze and improve conditions, equipment, etc.. I think the human element being taken out of danger allows for better control of a situation, allowing for cooler heads to prevail. I think exosuits may be supplementary to some jobs, but will mostly be used by the hadicapped. I don't think exosuits will be sued for any sort of battle or war, just ridiculous notion all-around.

People who think this is a good idea are naive civilians who play too much video games.. go but on all that gear with a ruck sack, water, food, etc. in the southern summer heat marching for 5-10-20 miles. You'll have a heat stroke and die. I've seen a ton of people in the military come close to death from heat and they were wearing half that amount of stuff. Maybe it would be useful spec ops in specific situations but for the most part this isn't practical. Civilians don't consider factors like heat, have to March long distances everyday, having to sleep and be ready to hop up and go in an instant. Ain't nobody gonna have time to take that big bitch off and put it back on quickly. Plus there's the fact that the cost of it wouldn't be worth it.

This will go through the usual Military, Police Trade Show/Expo route like all the other Exoskeletons that have come out in the last 20+ years. Then it will ultimately be shelved and/or abandoned for something that's even less cost effective. Like Hover Bikes or Jet Packs.

dawg you haven't been studying how this was made and designed, mehler has been making full body heavy armor rigs for over a decade for swat teams using hard armor this armored exoskeleton is designed for swat teams for breach buildings to handle rifle fire or sustained small arms fire, hopefully you can understand that.

@@TimothyMark7 So have a lot of other Companies that make the same products. Plate Carriers and Exoskeletons are not one in the same. One is a Dime a dozen on the Market, and the other will require more precision manufacturing that will cost a shit ton more to the Consumer. I am not holding out for this to be nothing more than a niche product, or anything at all. This is not Call of Duty bro, no Police Department other than maybe Dubai is going to buy this for their Tactical Team. They seem to like throwing money away on ridiculous things that never pan out.

@@CuervoBlack07 I have no idea how is this related to call of duty, but from the looks of it you never studied body armor or even European body armor companies at all, mehler has been making full body hard armor rigs for decades, European swat teams have been using full body hard armor for over a decade compared to the U.S that would use soft armor that's using decade old aramid materials secondly do you even know what does a passive exoskeleton do or how does it even work or even how it works compared to powered exoskeletons?
