Yes the key fob, it’s a 2005 VW golf GTI 1.8t. Hatch doesn’t lock when car is locked. Thank you for the advice I will check it out.

Hi I have a golf 1.8 Turbo and I have a problem that I can not solve. The turbo starts to fill and when it reaches 3,000 rpm empties, then refills again to 4 thousand rpm, then empties again What can it be?

Idk if you are still here but i have a cabriolet 2000 GLS same issue but only my car is locking but i dont see the Light blinking did i hold the key in the off position in the door to long cause i heard it beep 3 times and ever since the light i think has not been working!

Need more info. When you lock the driver door... did the passenger door & trunk also lock? When you unlock the driver door, did the passenger door & trunk also unlock? Windows down, lock the car. Reach through the driver window and pull on the hood release lever... does the alarm go on? Do the same thing but open the driver door. Do the same open the passenger door... alarm, no alarm? The alarm might be thinking that a door, the hood or the rear lid is still open. A battery disconnect and reconnect can sometimes cure weird electrical issues.

I believe I have a faulty lock switch on my driver's door. Sometimes it will turn on the alarm when I close the door and sometimes not. If it doesn't I don't care as it's a 2000 Golf that I just use around town. The only problem is sometimes it will arm the alarm when I lock the door and sometime will not disarm the alarm when I come back to use the car, causing the alarm to go off. Putting the key in the ignition does not disarm it. I have to keep turning the key in the door lock until it turns off the blinking light. Is there a simple way to just disable the alarm, as the car is 25 years old and not only is that lock giving me problems, but also the hatch door?

Simplest thing to do is to replace the door lock actuator / latch.

@EXOVCDS I was hoping to save a little money and time due to it needing a catalytic converter also, which in California they want $1500 for it, and I figured I'll replace the O2 sensors, as well. Plus the front struts, & control arms too, but I suppose it's only around $150 for the door lock, so I guess while I'm dumping money, why not. LOL

Thank you so much for this info. I started having a weird problem with my 2002 GTi 337. After my car is on and running the car just turns off and beeps like the key button was pressed. Then the dash starts resetting the timer and trip milage many times a second. Once I open the driver door and close it back again the car allows me to start it up again. It started happening once in a while but now it happens every time I turn it on. Have you ever heard of this before?

Check the main power & ground connections at the Battery. Check the connections of the small fuse box on top of the battery... and the ground connection under the battery (remove battery to check).

@@EXOVCDS Well, if you really wanted, you could always program a cheap arduino/arduino uno knockoff, splice it in before the +12v (or signal live?) wiring to the horn. Measure the duration of the beep pulses (1, and include the pause for 2 beeps). Then connect it to a small, amplified alarm speaker horn and have it play whatever you want when you lock / unlock, can even be two different things :) Use relays, Arduino output can't power the horn or speaker by itself (too weak outputs) - a Digispark most definitely can't. Reason to measure the beep pulse (/pulses and period with multiple beeps), so as to not interfere with ordinary operation. When it senses "the correct" pulse/pulses, ot plays the alarm speaker - anything else gets relayed to the "ordinary" horn 😊

Yes, it can happen. The door will lock because the car doesn't think the door was opened. You get in put the keys in the ignition and the get out because you forgot something. The car locks with the keys in the ignition... or whenever else they were left

Thanks for the video Mike. I have a 2000 vw gti that started tripping the alarm if I sit in the car with the key in the ignition and the drivers door open after about 1 minute, it engages the door lock. When I turn the ignition key on, that's when it starts alarming. I wait for about 30 seconds and it finally goes off. Does it sound like a micro switch problem in a door as you were explaining? It started happening right after I replaced the battery. Thanks.

If the alarm does not beep when locking the car, or if the alarm doesn't turn on when you open the door (car locked, driver window down) by reaching through the open driver window and opening door from inside... it's probably a micro switch issue or wiring.

Hi great video 👍🏼. I’m having a issue with my alarm, I locked the doors and after the alarm is set about 5 to 10 minutes later it goes off. The rear hatch doesn’t lock when the car is locked with the key pad. I’m thinking it’s a bad lock module for the rear hatch. Can you please give me your thoughts thank you.

What key pad? FOB? Year, make, model? Check for broken wires in the hatch wiring looms. Open hatch, peel back the rubber loom cover to check the wiring.

The single lock beep is a quick way of knowing if there is a potential issue with the central locking system. =)

But to alter anything with VAG comm is has to be CAN-BUS, does it not? After 2003, I believe, yes?

I'm not a 100%... my understanding is that (can-bus or not) starting 1999, things could be changed / coded / adapted. The next time I am working on this 2002 Golf (Nephew's car) I will check (non can-bus IIRC).

Sorry to go miles off topic, but I'm really scratching my head here.just bought an old 99 Passat estate. LHD, it's a european (delivered for Sweden from factory), so it's K-line (Euro didn't mandate OBD2 until 2001), and I don't think it has a central comfort module, but a central locking module. Electric adjustment of mirrors don't work. Central locks don't work. Driver front window works fine, no life in other 3. Any ideas? In my mind, I imagine that many things, and those particular things together, not working - makes me think that it's likely not actually the window motors, mirror and lock actuators, but rather a module issue. Or possibly a wiring to/fro said module. The driver window working fine though, confuses me.

@@ynabella4143 Yep. A sadly common fault it turns out. Water had gotten to the wiring looms running from the little side panel towards the door in the driver side (LHD) footwell, into that looms running along the floor towards the door opening, and branching out to the CCM module in the big black box underneath the drivers seat (all of this under the carpet, so seat must out, cut battery ofc). Roughly 30-35 cm in each direction from where the loom branches off to that module, and all the way along that branch too, right up until the connector. This wrapped loom has a lot of poorly wrapped, soldered splices within. No moisture barrier preventing water from reaching those bare joints. So most of those joints had corroded so badly they fell apart when unwrappping the loom. Inspect the module in the box and its connector pins for corrosion first, if you're really lucky it's only some corrosion damage there, or inside the module. But if not, then you have to unwrap the whole loom in the sections mentioned above. And inspect all the wires and joints for corrosion very thoroughly. A small puncture in the insulation on a wire, can cause complete circuit break from corrosion inside - but you can easily spot that. Take this advice to heart: There's a bunch of different leads in the loom with identical color markings, but they don't all join together in a circuit. So have a roll of paper tape and a marker on hand, then be suuuper carefulnand patient when unwrapping the loom. Some of those joints will fall apart when you unwrap the loom, so go slow and delicate, and once you find a corroded joint, label well all the ends that go together to that joint or lead immediately. If you don't, you unwrap the whole section, lots of leads and joints break apart - AND THEN you try figuring out which ends actually is suposed to go together.. Then this turns into many full days of frustrating work instead of about a day. You have to splice in extra cable in most places that break apart, so trace every corroded wire far enough back that there's bare shiny copper inside, no black or gray oxidation. If you're uncertain about a wire, trace it to the nearest connector on each side of the shady looking bit, then use your multimeter to check for beeps/continuity. How you do your wire/splice repairs is up to you, just make sure you got clean shiny metal in both ends: This stuff is like cancer, if you don't cut out all of it, it will come back very soon. You don't wanna do this job twice. And since the seat must come out, if it's your only car then make sure you have all the tools and supplies you need before going at it. I opted for soldering in new segments of wire, with good quality heatshrink over all joints to keep moisture out.

The alarm is on / set. If it does not beep... you can open the door (smash window first if need be) and the alarm will not sound. Once the alarm beeps (once) then the alarm is set. If a window is broken and the door is opened, then the alarm will sound. If someone crawls through the open window, the alarm will not activate (because the door was not opened).

@@EXOVCDS But that's the beep. My Audi used to beep, before the door lock microswitches started giving up the ghost, but that's retired now. I'm more curious about the boops. I'm certain they're boops, not the traditional beeps. Not sure if it's me being anal or if I need to get my ears/head checked 😅
