The Rekluse team set out to create a new generation of auto clutch that provides more direct power delivery, improved durability, and rider-focused functionality, especially when matched with the power characteristics of modern bikes. The process involved countless hours of work, on and off the bike. Here's how they did it.

I've purchased a Rekluse for every quad I have or had. Between the Honda 450's and my new Yamaha 450's, I won't race without a Rekluse!

I'm missing my arm below the elbow, I can still hook over the handlebar and reach the clutch but it's always been a pain. Had the auto clutch on my 97 cr250 with a steering stabilizer, OMG I wish I'd done this earlier in life, its been phenomenal!! Finally technical areas w/out stalling. I can even bump my front end up w/out clutch. I just purchased a Beta 300rr and received the 4.0 within 3 days of ordering. Can't wait to try it. These guys over there are the best. I have nothing but praise for there outstanding customer service. Worth every penny! Thanks for all the help/advice guys!!

@tbrinkley112 were you racing back in the late 90’s? I remember a guy that had the same situation as yourself and I want to say he raced Atleast 1 Pro race or some other kind of High Profile race. He never qualified for the main event but he did try. Never heard from him anymore. Either was was just curious if it was you.

I just installed it in a '21 KTM 300 xc-w. I'm extremely impressed. Much faster lockup with less slipping than the 3.0. I highly recommend it and if you have the 3.0 then most assuredly I'd upgrade when they have the upgrade kits available. Bill Wade.

Had an older Recluse EXP 3.0 (in 2014) on my KTM500. Just put the EXP 4.0 on my Gas Gas ES500 and the 4.0 is a big improvement over the 3.0. Great addition to my bike!

I had an early version of the rekluse in my wr450f and it really done well. It lasted 8 to 10 years with a lot of harescrambles on it. I had a 3.0 on a yz250f and it did not make it a year. It had nylon bushings in it and when it would get hot, they could fail. When I replaced my rekluse in my wr, I found an old pro version and it is doing well.

With this new design, are you not worried about the bearings creating 'dents' or 'impressions' on the softer aluminum carrier? Similar to what happens to headset bearings where the balls settle into the depression on the race from pressure over time.

Does the 4.0 help cut down on engine breaking on a 450?

I have these clutches on my 23 KTM 300 and 350 and they work flawless. I put one on my 24 Beta 390 race edition and I just can't get it to work like my KTM's do. Im to point of going back to stock clutch. Such a fine line between engagement, free play gain, slipping and dragging.I think some of it has to do with the way the Beta idles. I don't know

If you’re dead stop on a hill does it just free fall and you have to be on the breaks 24/7? Or is it that not a thing that happens?
@onthethrottle7104
@onthethrottle7104 6 ай бұрын
If you are dead stopped on a hill, yes it will free fall but that's why most people that climb gnarly hills with auto clutches install the Left Hand Rear Brake (LHRB). Not only do you have the foot brake but also the left hand brake so if you have to bull dog down a hill the LHRB really comes into play. Once you get used to the LHRB, you ride the bike like a mountain bike, using the right lever for the front brake and left lever for the rear brake. You can use the clutch if needed but most of the time you just leave it alone. Hope that helps for anyone looking at auto clutches, I see this question come up a lot.

Nothing to stop you from putting a little throttle in to prevent the bike from rolling back

Can you make an auto clutch that you can still bump start the bike? Running the Zstart on my CR500 & it transformed the bike for enduro. Would like to run the newer versions eventually. Just wish I could still bump start my bike.

Bring the price down!! Too much for a tiny little disc. I can't afford to put these into my bikes, if they were in a lower price range I would buy them and be recommending them to my friends.
@Superdisco199
@Superdisco199 Жыл бұрын
The obsession with the stock clutch lever feel has killed off your offroad market. The average offroad 4 stroker doesn't really want/care to use the clutch so the clutch feel isn't the be end and end all. Price and function is. The zstart pro worked and so many people i knew ran them, now I dont know a single person who does and no one will take a punt at this price point. The friction pads on the rekluse disk need replacing (or fail) which costs a fortune and the reduction of discs and/or move to propriety friction discs scared people off and drove up the price too. Shame.

Agreed, I'm still running the z-start pro after 330 hours on crf450r and that thing is a beast. Pity they stopped making them. Not even sure if spares are available for them at this point? New rekluse is like $2500 here in australia. May try a new one in the future but worry that it looks flimsy at best.
