@@markkozielec2200 sounds close to the real deal? I own an Engl Savage and a Randall Satan both with parallel loops and I might buy this... (although the Randall has a series loop too)

Kiss Shot Acerola Orion Heart Under Blade Shinobu I mean, I haven’t actually sat there and did a comparison. Most are designed by the actual designer. So, Engl designed the preamp for Synergy. As did , Soldano, Morgan, Friedman, etc. Friedman even designed the Plexi module for them. All that being said, there are factors that change the sound. Power amp, speaker, cabinet, etc. I believe they’re close, but not exact. Definitely fun to play with though.

Pete, Hey man the gear is fantastic. I have a crappy 50 watt amp with a fizzy dirt channel which I hate... but I dropped 6v6 power tubes in it and the clean channel is now dam good. So basically I use my clean channel and pedals. So yes! The Synergy is perfect for me. But dude thats not the actual reason for my comment. I watch a crap ton of KZbin guitar channels including yours, and after a while its easy to get "numb" to guitar playing in general. I love it, but I just dont get "wowed" nearly as much as I used to. So just wanted to remind you that you are a freeking MONSTER player. You did stuff in this simple little demo...just off the top of your head that just sounded awesome. Dude WOW! You are one talented mo fo! Take a bow. My hat is off to you! Thanks

I remember when Randall made amps with modular preamp sections. I always assumed that you were just swapping out tone stacks, but I know you can run these modules into the old Randall and Egnater M4, so I was clearly wrong. I know you have to set them for the cathode bias (dual/split/etc), I think you can only use one channel if you run these into those amps though.

The synergy has an effects loop and you can patch effects there and they will work with both your amplifier preamp and when you’re using the syn preamp.

Hi Pete! So, as always, I absolutely LOVE your gear reviews and demos! So thorough and awesome! Looking back, I used to use big, heavy tube amps, but tried to scale down a bit with the digital stuff and ended up with an AxeFX and Matrix 1000FX PA, but that took me down a rabbit hole that made me miss my traditional amps. That being said, I have recently discovered these Synergy preamps and seriously considering trying them out, but had a question about power amps… I know that Synergy is pushing their modules with the 50/50 tube PA, but was wondering your opinion on what these module preamps would sound like through a Matrix 1000FX? I’d like to save as much weight as possible as that is what inspired me to go with a SS power amp in the first place, but I’d hate to diminish the feel & sound of these modules if they just don’t work well with a SS vs tube power amp. Would greatly appreciate your feedback, as you have so much experience with this gear and would offer an unbiased opinion from real-world experience. Thanks so much and keep rockin’, my friend! 🎸🎶

Superb demonstration / explanation. Just one question: I often use a JHS "Little Black Box" as a sort of Master volume for my amps (I suppose this question would also pertain to volume pedals as well). Normally the "Little Black Box" is the last in the loop chain just before hitting the return. Where would it go with the Synergy System? Last in the Synergy's loop or after the Synergy System in to the amps return? Thanks!

I have a question! Could you wire it from the amps preamp to the syn1 and then back into the power amp ? And then just go straight into your amp from your guitar ? I have a boogie mark IV that comes with a footswitch that lets me have the FX loop activated for separate channels. So I can have the FX loop on me clean channel and then with the press of a Button i go to the lead channel without having the FX loop active. So basically selecting the SYN1 with the boogie footswitch. U get where i am going with this ?

Synergy completely rejuvenated my guitar playing. John Browne from Monuments put me on to them. Then I saw that they were endorsed by Steve Vai. Any chances of a Suhr PT module???
@markkozielec22005 жыл бұрын
Edward Patrick White I think there will be another new module or two announced over the next week or so. There was lots of chatter a couple of months back about a couple new ones, excluding the Vai one, on their Facebook page. Some people were busting balls about how long it takes them to release modules(they have had a pretty bad track record from announcement to release), and their moderator commented that we’d all be surprised this summer. I hope it wasn’t shit talk. The last batch released are killer
@edwardpatrickwhite66795 жыл бұрын
Mark Kozielec - I do want the Vai one. Imagine it will be pretty close to the Carvin Legacy tonally. I just know that PT has the UAD software license going but I’m not a fan of emulations really and there’s no way I’d get the head. So a Synergy Module of the PT/Suhr collaboration would be ace.

Pete,love your signature Suhr amp,it sounds great and ur playing is incredible ! I am curious how theses will sound through a Roland JC series amp, like the JC22?
@philfrank56014 жыл бұрын
I would assume they'd sound as good as a solid state power section amp could provide. And Rolands are great solid state amps.
@JRP3music4 жыл бұрын
I had an Adamp-1 run through another preamp to use the stereo fx loop. Then the power section was a Tube Works MosValve. I have used Marshall 9005 with that rig. Subtle differences. I also tried a Marshall dual Mono Block. On one track of my cd. Great sounds. The selling point for the Synergy Syn-1 is the simple addition of channels to any amp with a series fx loop. More examples of this with different amps might really get these units to sell more.
@robertj13035 жыл бұрын
They are almost the price of an amp! $500 for the empty syn1 and $400 a module so $900 to start, makes the Axe fx good value for money! PT15 IR already high price talking another $1700 on what you demo’d. I think too much. Maybe for the pro. A lot of second amps heads for same or less!
@barndawg775 жыл бұрын
The price is what keeps me from diving into it as well. 1700 bucks for the twin module setup, with two modules and the footswitch. I will say if somebody had a studio, and wanted to get a bunch of amp sounds...this would be hard to beat.
@jonathanellison22395 жыл бұрын
BUT, think of it this way. You can use the Preamp with the tube amp you already have! You don’t have to have the syn head. So as long as you have the little chassis that the Preamp goes in, your good. So $700 for the first one, and $399 for any channel after that. Or buy used for about $600. I can give my Bogner a SLO-ish channel for $350, or a Diezel $350.
@Robstafarian4 жыл бұрын
Two tube preamp channels for $400 is a great deal, after one already has a chassis. For a hobbyist, running a SYN-1 (which costs about as much as a Mexican Fender) into an audio interface beats running a tube amp at mouse fart volumes (and modelers do not bear comparison). Personally, I think the declining quality of power tubes is reason enough to get a Synergy rig.
@tubo7775 жыл бұрын
Amzing demo as usual. Do you have to crank the power amp to get the best of the Synergy modules or they do the job at lower volunes too?
@PeteThorn5 жыл бұрын
well, the majority of tone comes from the pre but it always helps to get the power working a bit
@sxdrujandis9 ай бұрын
Why are the chassis so expensive?? Can't figure it out. None of these are available used online, no alternatives. Too bad they didn't make a rack that can play two modules at once to get a stereo sound.

I did not understand quite how the synergy is hooked up. Could you explain it, I like that you can turn it in and off and still keep your amp sounds.
@aviel-kiss59855 жыл бұрын
It’s a simple “4 cable” method. 1) Your guitar connects to SYN-1 input on the SYN-1 front panel. 2) A cable connects the input of your amplifier located on your amplifier’s front panel, to the rear of the SYN-1 “TO AMP IN” jack. 3) The send and return jacks of your amp connect to the back of the SYN-1. The jacks are labeled “TO AMP FX RETURN” and “FROM AMP SEND” That’s it. You get a two button foot switch. One switch toggles between the modules channels. The other “magic” button toggles between your amp and your amp but using the SYN-1 preamps. It’s really very very cool!
