I appreciate the [nice] comments. Things to know: These posts are for a simple, tiny 4x4’ light duty privacy fence that hides trash cans. Nothing structural. This is not insulating foam. It’s made for exterior fence posts (rivr.link/MRG-zL9eLz). We live in Texas where it’s warm most of the year. No frost line, not windy. No, we are intentionally not using the level as a level but instead just as a straight line to get the posts in the same plane. Yes those are treated posts. Yes, I’ve used and love Quickcrete. This was just a good opportunity to try a new product. No, the rain has not affected the product at all. I did this 2 years ago and the posts are still rock solid. No rot, no wobble. I’m pretty impressed. Great product for a small job like this, in an area like this, or if you are in a spot with no access to water to mix Crete.

80' is relatively small for a fence. Is it solid or open? Wondering if it catches significant wind load. I'd expect this product to last 3-5 years but I'm interested to learn how it holds up after 5-10.

In my short 32 years on this earth I've found that no matter how you do something construction related, there's always a line of men to tell you how you did it wrong and how they would have done it. But at the end of the day, if it works for you or what you're doing, it's good enough and most of the people having an issue with the way you do things have no idea how to think outside the box or try new things.

I was a former chemical grout technician. We used foam of different densities to secure bridge approaches and departures as well as railroad crossings over asphalt. Much of the work included slab jacking concrete to eliminate trip hazards (sidewalks, driveways, etc.). I would use the foam if it is designed for this.

We used that a lot long time ago. I live at the German border. It's not really for insolation, but making things rigid but not 100% locked. Like with water hamer, the pipe can still move a bit and reduce the impact. And also good for noice reduction. When pipes go hot and cold, it will make a ticking noice in your home. And it's just super fast and easy. Thus also good for the leazy handyman :-)

In loose soils, make a plywood "cap" with a square hole in the center, and screw it to the post so the foam will pressurize and push outward into the soil, they will be super tight. Remove the cap afterward. (In other words, stop it from coming up out of the hole)

The last time i used it was on my outdoor kennel , on the gate posts. I've used this stuff a bunch of times. It's about nearly impossible to pull the post back out once it's cured. It also coats the posts with a waterproof membrane because it is closed cell foam, which increases the post's longevity. The only downside is that you have to have the post 100% square, level, and braced before you start the pour. It sets so fast that you have no time to make any adjustments.

Being 66 years of age & by myself I most definitely will use this product. This will make it so much easier for me when I have several hundred post to place around my property . I’ve been needing to place a white picket fence up . I thought the most difficult part was finding the right auger . Once found then I thought about after I dig the holes how do I keep them straight to finish . Wow! Grey product. ! Now I know ❤🎉😂

@@868_gus from what I understand cement is fine to use as long as the post is placed BEFORE the concrete is poured. If you push the post in after, then you create a concave dip in the concrete that will just funnel water down into the post instead of shedding it off into the ground. It’s hilarious because on concrete videos everyone comments and says you should use foam, and on foam videos everyone is saying use concrete.

One thing to know about concrete it’s a sponge that absorbs water and rots your posts. Ever wondered why the post above ground is ok and the part of the post that extends below the concrete is ok but the bit in the concrete has turned to mush. Wrap plastic round the post or tar it where the concrete is it will last years and years longer. And that is with the top of the cement formed to run rain water away.

SO IM NOT SURE HOW UR POSTS ROTTED INCASED IN CONCRETE BUT U SCREWED UP SOMEWHERE. MAYBE U USED MORTOR OR LEFT A INDENT NEXT TO GROUND LEVEL MAKUNG A CUP EFFECT WHEN IT RAINS.. BUT IF U LEVEL OFF CONCRETE A GROUND LEVEL . MIX IT BEFORE U POUR.. DONT DUMP IN DRY CONCRETE THEN POUR IN WATER. I HAVE DUG SEVERAL POSTS UP THAT THIS METHOD WAS USED AND THERE WERE SEVERAL DRY PLACES WHERE CONCRETE NEVER CURED WOULD NOT HOLD A GATE FOR VERY LONG EITHER. @@jaylondon283wood will always rot if let sitting in water. The ideal situation is to never have the wood underground at all but use concrete with steel joints to mount the wood to the concrete above ground. Much more expensive but will last a lot longer. IF you need to put posts in the ground you want a few inches of drainage underneath the posts in the hole first and then you fill the post with a cement that allows drainage as well so even if the post does get wet then the water has a place to go instead of staying on the wood. This expanding foam crap is expanding by filling itself with air so there are clearly air pockets so I think it will absorb the water and hold it like a sponge and rot away the beam much faster. Like 20X faster.

Concrete is used for posts like these because not only is it sturdy, fairly weather resistant, it’s also heavy. That foam I don’t know is any of those. I’m also not a carpenter so idk what I’m talking about.

우레탄폼은 습기에 약해 기둥이나 포스트같은 기초공사에는 적합하지 않으니 콘크리트 또는 시멘트로 타설해야 오래견딜수 있습니다. Urethane foam is weak against moisture and is not suitable for foundation construction such as columns or posts, so it must be cast with concrete or cement to last long.

@abbyynorman2874 Do you drive a car ? Where does the rubber go that wears off of your tires ? Does it magically disappear ? Guess where it goes. Right into the ground. Or it goes into the drain system with all the waste water. It's contaminating the water in the sewer systems as well as the ground water. Which situation is worse ? The foam around the post isn't going anywhere. It's not breaking down and leaching into the ground water. It's no different than the plastic barrier that surrounds the foundation of a lot of homes to stop water penetration. Should people remove that because it is made of plastic ? Just let water flow into our basements ?
