Electric carving knives are AWESOME for trimming off the excess foam. 😉

Good tip!

What do you use to calculate how much silicone you need in the mould box. Is it rice? Also what type of clay do I need to buy that's suitable for silicone moulding? Thanks you guys!

All the clays on our website are sulfur free but the Protolina soft is our most popular for mold work. Go to the resources section of our website for more videos on calculating volume etc.. Rice is a good method.

@@brickintheyard Thanks! Usually I would buy from you but I'm sadly in the UK on a budget so I can't afford the extra postage. Do you have a link to your video on measurements for mould boxes?

@@projectdalekmark Go to the "Poured Molds" section of our video library. You can find the video library page under the resources tab.

Can this foam be used for lost foam casting? To make this skull aluminum.

Very cool, thank you! Do all foams not stick to silicone moulds? What about tin moulds, I would have to use a release for that huh. Is olive oil an okay release?
@brickintheyard3 ай бұрын
I would not recommend Olive Oil. A good quality silicone (platinum or tin) will not require release for casting flexible or rigid polyurethane foam. A release like E313 or E302 may be used to extend the life of the mold. Foam chemistry can be greatly effected by the release agent. Be careful and test first if you are trying an untested material or technique!

This video was very informative! I’m thinking of casting rigid foam for a mould of a foam guard. Which means that it will be an about 2cm diameter, 10cm long rod. Do you think that it will be rigid enough to hold its shape? Sorry if this is too specific… (The foam I was looking at was 200kg/m3 density)
@brickintheyard3 ай бұрын
Some of that will depend on the density of the rigid foam. Call BJB. They have a great selection of foam as well as tech people who understand the foam. Their contact info is available on the BJB Enterprises website.
