What people should understand by now is that Epic exclusive is almost always a limited time exclusive & most games eventually make their way to Steam. But Epic gives a higher percentage of sales to the devs and often offers monetary incentives for limited exclusivity, which is very attractive or necessary for small/new studios...especially as funding gets tougher

The cool thing about the diversity of the characters of the expanse was that it was never preachy, contrived or a sledge hammer to beat me with present day social issues.

Now that theres an Expanse game. That means u Have to make a season 7 right? =P But seriously, you could do whatever you want with this show at this point... you have The Gate system up... the possibilities are endless. The Gateway system can make the same secret sauce that made Star Trek: The Next Generation so huge: and that is a new story with each episode.

I look forward to trying this myself, but I also think a TellTale Expanse game might be a good gift for my sister who likes sci-fi but isn't much of a gamer.

I'm super excited for this! I'm not a big fan of Epic, but I believe they have the highest percentage of money going back to the developer, so I get it. I think a game like this will be worth the extra bit of hassle that is Epic, much like Mechwarrior was when it released.

From a purely visual perspective, the characters don't seem quite 'right'. As if they are not quite human. For example, Drummer looks almost like someone had Cara Gee described to them but they had never seen a real human face. I know TellTale can do realistic characters, so I presume this was an artistic decision. But it still feels unsettling. Agreed regards not releasing it on Steam. That seems like a 'shoot yourself in your foot' moment

When it comes to the art style I agree with what you are saying. That being said I've been getting used to it as more trailers that come out. It doesn't bother me as much anymore. The whole epic game exclusive thing is a bummer but it won't stop me from playing it.

Chris, what happened with the early development videos? It’s been 2 months, could you not find any more concept art?

A few things, the ships that remain, I either have very little, one, or zero pieces of concept art. Also, the last two concept videos I did (the knight and Navoo) didn't do too well view-wise. Those videos take a while to do, and when they don't perform, I prefer to try making other types of content. I plan on making more in the future, but for now, I have other types of content I want to try out. I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

I do not like EpicGames. If this won't be releasing for Steam, I'd rather get it on PS4. I would also like to see footage that will reflect what we'll get in the next teaser. Seeing the developers share their love about The Expanse is very telling about their passion and dedication. I also noticed the "Episode 1 Coming Summer 2023" that confirms that they'll be releasing each episode weekly. Deck Nine & Telltale usually do this with their interactive storytelling games. My opinion remains the same, this looks like it could be on par with The Walking Dead, Detroit: Become Human, & Life is Strange. If the launch goes good, this could get a lot more people into The Expanse. I'm really looking forward to this game.

If that's the final look I will say that I wish they'd use a higher polygon count on the characters' faces. Not that my opinion counts because I refuse to play any DRM'd game and nearly all are now. I'll say it again, you can make money with an open source game, it's the game assets that people are really paying money for anyway, not the game engine. Oh well, I'm really just talking into the wind anyhow because KZbin hides most of the posts I make anyway.

Epic store is kinda bad news for Linux gamers... maybe we can make it work through Lutris or the Legendary Launcher but it probably won't be as easy and "one-click" as it would have been on Steam

Yeah, Whilst I have games on Epic, the whole Epic Exclusive shit is kinda annoying! Game looks great though! I mean the Pre-Alpha build already looks good, how good is the finished game going to look? 😮

I don't think it will look much different to the pre alpha, to be honest. I think the looks are pretty established, but the gameplay, story, and bug fixes will be ironed out from pre alpha to full release.

I am sad to hear that it's likely to be "Epic store only" on Windows. I prefer Windows gaming and I want to have all my games on Steam so they are easy to manage. It could be enough to keep me from getting this game.
