Baylor might actually be a pushover this year. For me, if we beat OSU, I might think nine wins is possible. If we beat UCF, I might think 11. I'm not convinced we'll be both Baylor and Arizona back to back. I think we drop at least one of those games.

BYU fan here. I'm still doubtful about where you have us here. I think we need to prove more with our offense before we can say that we're a complete team. Also, that 6 minutes was the biggest (most amazing) circus show I've ever seen during a college football show, but anyone who watched that first half (before the 2 minutes) had to have doubts about who was the better team out there tonight. Also, last year BYU struggled in the last half of the season. So, I guess I'm waiting for them to prove it to me that this has changed.

Words of caution from an Utah fan and former PAC-12 member…. Beware of descriptors like “most wide-open conference”, “most parity” and “most exciting because every game has an upset possibility.” It’s great for us BIG12 conference fans, but nobody else broadly speaking cares and it will hurt the conference if we don’t have elite representation each year.

I think one thing no one is really mentioning, that will have a dramatic effect on B12 Conference play is… Altitude Kansas State looked gassed against BYU at 4500ft Baylor looked slower 2nd half in Bolder at 5400ft OK State and Kansas are going to have the same problem playing BYU… TCU and Iowa State will have to deal with Salt Lake at 4200ft… KSU will have to play Colorado in Bolder. It is a real factor for the traditional B12 teams that are not used to playing in the Rockies… Worth mentioning when you talk about the home field advantage of those three teams But it also can skew results. It will be interesting to see how BYU does away against Baylor, ASU, and UCF when not playing at home

So glad you saved yourself at the beginning by putting the indisputable #1 in place! BYU defense played well but if Avery Johnson didn’t hand them a few picks and the punt return that was MUFFED wasn’t a lucky return this is a totally different game because BYU’s offense sucks. Couple lucky bounces this whole game is different. I’m not salty just pointing out facts. BYU D is tough but the lucky bounces made them look way better than what they really are.

So what you're saying is that in every game, whether it be high school, college or professional, all bounces of the ball are lucky? And that if an offense doesn't take care of the ball, it's a lucky bounce? If we were just to not play the games on any level, and believe what's "on paper", then games wouldn't come out like they do. That's why we actually play them. But attributing them to lucky bounces is unfair to any team in any market at any level... period! So you know what to write going forward, right. Do some self analysis on your judgments. Think about what I just wrote, cause it makes a ton of sense!

Arizona State (-4) 11. West Virginia (+2) 12. TCU (-4) 13. Baylor (-3) 14. Cincinnati(+2) 15. Kansas (-1) 16. Houston (-1) Disclaimer: I’m an Utah fan/Alum and an alum of U of Iowa. Last week I said: The loser of Kansas and West Virginia would drop to #15. The loser of Cincinatti and Houston would drop to #16. The winner of Utah vs OKState would be #1 The winner of KState vs BYU would be #2. Notes: Since OkState and KState face each other, one of those teams will have a nice ‘bounce back’ win, while the other will be in a 0-2 conference hole. It’s a home game for the Wildcats, so my money is for them to win a close one. Should be a great game. Later in the season, OkState plays at BYU and KState plays at Iowa State (both avoid UCF). Thus, this is probably ‘must win’ territory for both teams. I was hesitant to give UCF any bump this week as they had a bye, but since they are still undefeated I moved them up. A win against Colorado at home then against meddling SEC team Florida (but in Gainesville) would do a lot for me to think they are ‘for real’. Their win against TCU slipped after the Horned Frogs screwed up against SMU. I was also hesitant to give Arizona a bump after a bye, but I can’t put them lower than Tech, the Buffs, ASU or the multi-loss schools just yet. We will see what they do in SLC on Saturday. Iowa State continues to climb, which is what you do when you keep winning. I can’t see them losing at Houston or home against Baylor the next two weeks either. Should be 5-0 when they travel to Morgantown. So solidly at #3. Texas Tech’s win over Arizona State-hmmm, by 8 in Lubbock--does that mean Tech is better than we thought or the Sun Devils are worse? Or neither or both? More data needed. Yes, Wazzu is 4-0, but the Red Raiders lost to them by 3 TDs, while SJSU took them to OT. Colorado beat Baylor but needed a miracle to do it. So how did they get a 3-bump in my power rankings? Because all of those 1-loss teams are still a bit of an enigma to me and so I defaulted top entertainment value. Cincinatti had a nice dominant win but it was over hapless Houston. As such, I’m not quite ready to put them over the other 2-2 teams. I have Kansas at #15, but I only see them rising from here. Close losses each time. Still a dangerous team, even at #15, just much less dangerous than we thought at the start of the season. We’ll know more after their TCU game Saturday.
